We could move mountains...

Posted by kerrilyn , 25 August 2013 · 1087 views

This past weekend was spent with fabulous friends in Ottawa. We were brought together here at under the most trying circumstances and somehow we found each other... We are kept physically apart by the geographical distance between us, but together we stand beside each other, even if it is "virtually" most times, stronger than most forces of na...

Hello wonderful cyber friends!I have ventured down a new career path over the last few months and have been taking Real Estate courses to become a Real Estate Agent. I am doing my final course this week and write my last exam on the 18th and I have negotiated a position with a brokerage to start with as soon as I get my license. We're very excited...

Will the fear ever leave?

I don't know if it's from dealing with IF, having an emergency c-section at 36 weeks, hearing the words "if we wait 5 hours she's not going to make it", watching her heart rate and oxygen levels crash while holding my baby in my arms, seeing her hooked up to a ventilator, sitting outside her door and hearing them call "all clear...

Still around... mostly lurking :-)

Hi everyone!I do still lurk, even though I don't post much. I secretly stalk a lot of old friends and even though I'm not posting every day, I am always sending good vibes and hugs to those that need them.We have adjusted well to dealing with a baby with a heart condition. Really, other than giving her meds 3x/day, you wouldn't even know she had it. A...

Our new normal

Posted by kerrilyn , 10 August 2011 · 813 views

Our new normal consists of giving our baby girl meds every 8 hours. Luckily she is a rockstar when it comes to taing her meds and although we were warned that it tastes awful, she sucks it back as if it were candy, making it a much less tressful thing than it could be if it was difficlt to get her meds into her.Our new normal consists of worrying at every...

our world turned upside down

Posted by kerrilyn , 23 July 2011 · 1460 views

It all started Tuesday morning when I woke at 5pm to a baby wanting to be fed and realized she has slept 7 hours straight. At the time I was overjoyed thinking we suddenly had a baby who was going to sleep through the night. I fed her another bottle and she went back to sleep for another 4 hours. When she got up to eat around 9:30,n she ate a couple of ou...

I've been lurking but haven't had the opportunity to post much. I have been mulling over the content for this entry for a week or so now but I just couldn't get to the computer to post it.I feel sort of strange and lost with the lack of "counting" in my life right now. For so long I have counted something. When trying on our own it was...

Jaidyn Sydney Hope

Posted by kerrilyn , 28 May 2011 · 1606 views

well it seems we don't do anything the easy way...i went for my routine midwife appointment on thursday at 36 weeks and at the end of the appointment the midwife listened to baby Jaidyn's heartbeat and it was coming in fast at 200bpm. we both figured there was something wrong with the doppler so she hooked me up to the fetal monitor in the next of...

Moving and moving along

Posted by kerrilyn , 02 May 2011 · 706 views

We took possession of the new house on Friday and after waiting for the work pick up truck to make it back to the office I headed and DH loaded up our first load of boxes. We had a very busy weekend, taking down blinds and curtain rods, repairing nail holes, changing door knobs and kitchen hardware... led to 3 very long days and boy oh boy does my body fe...

Vitamin K & Anitibiotic Eye Ointment

Posted by kerrilyn , 18 April 2011 · 2512 views

My midwife recently discussed 2 things with me that are standard practice to be given, without most peoples knowledge or consent upon the delivery of a baby. One is a Vitamin K injection that is given shortly after birth to prevent uncontrollable bleeding. The other is antibiotic eye oitment that not only is standard practice but it is actually the LAW her...

Survival Rate by weeks pregnant

Another obsession I have had is counting down each week of this pregnancy trying to get to a stage where the baby will survive if the unthinkable should happen... found this on line:

Up until 21 weeks: 0% survival rate
at 22 weeks: 0-10% survival rate
at 23 weeks: 10-35% survival rate
at 24 weeks: 40-70% survival rate
at 25 weeks: 50-80% survival rate
at 26 weeks: 80-90% survival rate
at 27 weeks: greater than 90% survival rate
