Well, it is starting to become a little ridiculous the many different ways in which DH and I are getting to experience miscarriage.
Today we had the viability ultrasound and discovered an embryo measuring 6 weeks (should have been 7w1d) with the merest flicker of a heartbeat (couldn't be measured). So that confirms no hope but of course cruelly falls just slightly short of an actual miscarriage.
So now we have a referral to the early pregnancy assessment clinic at BC Women's and likely a D&C next week.
On the positive side I am grateful not to have had pain and mess during this week of 12 hour work days. Also it was nice to have a chance to say hello and goodbye today.
On the less positive side miscarriages do rather get in the way of moving ahead with the next step. We will need to have the D&C, wait for the next day 1 to do a hysteroscopy that cycle, and perhaps at the next day 1 we could start a long shot FET cycle for our remaining frozen embryo. But given the clinic's closure at Christmas we will be very lucky to get the FET cycle done in 2011.
Another 3 months of limbo.....
Time enough to explore the donor egg option I suppose - any input will be most welcome!
