boring entry, I'm afraid

Well, we had our laproscopy/hysteroscopy today and it went smoothly.

Minimal incision (belly button only) hardly any pain and they did find and resect 1cm of uterine septum. So that's good because otherwise I would have been kicking myself about delaying the next cycle for this procedure.

My ovaries looked small and quiet according to the OB which I think is polite, sensitive language for 'old'. So that's less good. But who knows, maybe they'll perk up with the drugs. And if not then the uterus is now well set up for DE.

My cervix let the instruments in a little too easily so that 100% confirms the general (rather than last-pregnancy-specific) diagnosis of incompetent cervix and means a cerclage and bedrest will be essential next time. Definitely not good but not a surprise either.

And most important of all I survived my return visit to the maternity unit, feeling joy rather than anything else when I heard the sounds of strong heartbeat on doppler from the next bed over and, later, the cries of her newborn. I guess that would be what they call closure. Either that or total denial.

DH was a superstar, super protective of me re the unmeasured joy of the extended family in the waiting room. He has a unique sense of humour so when asked if he had any questions said 'just one - when do you give us the baby?' About a year was the general consensus so tremendous optimism there from the medical team!

Back to obsessing about cycle dates.

Still more of a lurker than a poster right now but much love and support to all my friends here (that means all of you by the way).

J
