Hi all,

I have had 7 unsuccessful IUI's last year. We are unexplained but both healthy.

I start IVF next month and am trying to get an understanding of the meds that will be used.

I will be meeting with the IVF coordinator in the next few weeks, but I would like an idea of what meds would be given beforehand.

Could you give me a rough idea of the meds and dosage you have been put on?

Thank you!!

There are many many protocols and dosages based on various factors as well as the clinic.  It would be impossible for anyone to say what you might be put on.

Clarification: I'm curious what others were put on, rather than a guestimation of what I would be put on.

I was on Gonal-F 150 dose to start.  Then Cetrotide to stop ovulation and Ovidrel for trigger.  It was an antagonist protocol.  I was 36 and hubby was 40 and we have unexplained infertility as well but I do have mild endo.

For my first IVF I was on a 'low dose Lupron treatment'.  I took 10 units of Lupron for 14 days and then I was put on Lupron, Gonal-F and Menopur until the trigger shot.

I'm terrified of needles to begin with so I was extremely nervous and scared about taking 3 injections!  It ended up being a breeze!  I didn't feel the needles at all and no real side effects from the injections.  Of course everyone is different, but, that was my experience.

My second IVF cycle begins in April.  The doctor is keeping me on the same protocol as last time. If you need any support during your IVF next month let me know.  :o)

Hi dog mommy,

When I was in mid thirties stim meds were generally
Puregon 225 and luveris 75 with cetrotide (antagonist cycle) and them Estrace and prometrium for luteal support.

When I was older (40) best protocol was gonal f 450 (max dose) and luveris (150) with cetrotide and then Estrace and intramuscular progesterone for luteal support.

Some women are in other meds as well if they have immune issues (blood thinners, steroids etc) but that is not standard.
Currently 41, DH 46 - severe male factor, advanced maternal age, immune issues, uterine issues with TTC#2

TTC #1- 3 failed fresh cycles age 35-36 (one cancelled) and one successful FET at 37 (DS:)
TTC #2 - 2 fresh cycles at 39 and 40- one miscarriage and one failed (uterine infection after)
-2 failed FETs (both with complication of uterine fluid but went away after progesterone, uterine infection after one) -2 cancelled FETs (one due to uterine inflammation/infection after miscarriage and most recent due to uterine fluid) -3 good quality frozen embryos - one day 3 (at 39) and 2 day 6 blasts (at 40) waiting for FET without complications
