I want to start doing some acupuncture to improve the odds of IVF success.

The clinic recommends Dr.Chernish. Does anyone else have any other recommendations for other accupuncturists in the city?

How much did it cost?

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

    9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

    BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

     7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

     BFP:  day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

     .... it stuck and we welcomed our boy March 2017!

back on this crazy journey again: June 6, 2018: FET #1...

Thx Somehowsomeway and hs4816!
I stupidly changed my health insurance plan, so I don't have massage or acupuncture coverage anymore. I have to use money from HCSA.

Has anyone done acupuncture with Dr. Chernish? How much does he charge?

I have been seeing Dr. Chernish since the end of August (our 2nd embryo transfer) and really like him. Neither of our IVF embryo transfers took and Dr. Chernish asked us to give acupuncture a try for 6 months before starting our second round...we found out we were pregnant at the beginning of January after 2.5 years of no luck. Can't say for sure it was the acupuncture but glad we took his advice!! Initial appt is pricey, $250 or so and all others are I believe $93 (they just went up from $90 at the beginning of March). Feel free to message me if you have any other questions. 😊

Me: 32, DH: 35TTC since September 2014

IVF #1 w/ ICSI (long protocol) - June 2016: BFN

06/01 (ER) - 8 eggs retrieved, 6 mature, 5 fertilized, 4 embryos (day 3)

06/06 (ET) - 2 blasts (4BB (day 5) transferred, 5BC (day 6) frozen)

FET (medicated) - September 2016: BFN

09/02 (ET) - 5BC blast transferred

IVF #2 - Scheduled Beginning of 2017: cancelled because...

01/07 - Surprise BFP!!!

04/07 (U/S) - It's a boy! (16w6d)

09/16 - Estimated due date stork-baby.gif

Congrats J-Lee!

I think I may go with Family acupuncture because Dr. Chernish is a little bit too pricey and the office is only open until 4:30. If I wouldn't have changed my health plan...I would have acupuncture covered...hitting myself now 😣

I guess I will do acupuncture and stop massage therapy...I can only afford one

I have only gone twice in total. Going in tomorrow for 3rd time. I have no insurance coverage for acupuncture, so I can't go too much.

Dr. Yan on Portage ave is great too. He charges $50 and uses way more needles than other places I have been to for acupuncture. He is very interested and knowledgeable about fertility issues. He is also glbtt friendly 🌈

..the dredded two week wait. Thank you Hopefull1978. I feel very lucky to have made it this far... it was the battle of my lifetime to get pregnant and get my baby girl. Hopefully we get a second one, but I remain greatful either way. Given my age... I won't do another IVF cycle if this FET doesn't work.

So I'm switching to Dr Yan. Going in today for initial appt. I have insurance coverage now, so I can get more sessions in with him before I use up my coverage. He is very experienced, so we will see. Gotta prepare for my FET!
