At my clinic, the nurses said a big "no no" to any herbal substances like royal jelly and maca root when I asked about taking them in preparation. Then I read on my protocol letter: "note: stop taking herbal substances 1 month prior to cycle"

Is it weird that I don't know my protocol at all yet? I'm just on birth control and injection class on March 17!

I found out my protocol pretty late also. I wouldn't worry about it. You can give a call to your IVF nurse or doctor to ask if you want to know. :)

So this morning, during [what felt like] my 800th antral follicle count, my physician mentions out of the blue that the protocol I'm on is for people who they don't think will respond well to stimulation!  I knew my AMH was low-normal, but I was never told that my follicle counts were low too.

Now I'm freaking out a little, because our issues are primarily male factor, so I've been focused on that.  What if I don't produce any eggs or poor quality eggs?!?!?! *screams*

Notorious - don't freak out! Which protocol are you on? I've been switched to one that is often used for poor responders too, and I've always had pretty high AFCs. I've also had pretty good follicle counts during stims too (except for one cycle which was a bit of a flop). Don't think I've ever had my AMH tested but I imagine it's fine too. It's not one size fits all, and there is likely a good reason why your RE has chosen this protocol for you. I know it's sooooo hard, but try to keep the faith :)

Hi all. This is my first cycle. We have been trying to conceive the last 3 years. We met with the nurse today to go through my med schedule-starting March 28! I also had my US today for follicle count-7. I'm a bit nervous as this is so low. Because of this, my doctor states he is going to give me a higher dosage of meds.  I feel the more I research and read about IVF, the more I feel this isn't going to work. I know this is such a bad attitude to have, I think I just don't want to get my hopes up. Good luck to all of you!

Thanks Violetta! Feeling much better today, but I was SO FRUSTRATED yesterday! Maybe we could disclose all of this before I've started my cycle? :)  I'm using microdose flare protocol.

Welcome MaggieMay!  Its my first time too and I hear you!  I don't want to be optimistic, because goodness knows, it feels like the odds are against us!  But, we're all here for the same reasons and to support and educate one another!

Thanks for the welcome Notorious IVF! I'm also doing the mircodose protocol. Lupron, menopur, and Follistim. They didn't have me take aspirin. Is anyone doing or has tried acupuncture with their treatment?

@maggiemay I did acupuncture once a week leading up to my IUIs last year and it didn't help at all lol but I might still try again for this upcoming cycle to help with my anxiety. Even if it's a placebo effect... If it helps with my anxiety, I approve!

AFM - had my uterus ultrasound today (can't remember what it's called officially) and endometrial scratch. RE said my uterus looks good, so.. 👍 We also did our orientation for our upcoming ivf cycle to get reacquainted with the entire process as it's been a couple of years now. So many feelings going into this!

Daughter born - October 16, 2008

Husbands car accident - October 24, 2009 (result - paraplegia)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IVF Cycle #1
February 10th, 2014 - began Puregon 75 & Repronex 75
February 13th - was told to do Puregon 150 as I had a reaction to the Repronex and to stop injecting Repronex all together
February 14th - began to do Puregon 150 and Luveris 75
February 15th - began Oragulatran
February 18th - trigger shot
February 20th - egg retrieval, 8 eggs retrieved
February 22nd - cycle cancelled, poor quality eggs
IVF Cycle #2
May 4th, 2014- began 0.5 ml Suprefact injections
May 21st - began Gonal F 300 & Luveris 75
May 26th - u/s showing about 10-11 follicles so far. Dr. said I am responding well to the meds and everything is going as planned
May 29th - reduced Gonal F to 150 mg and stopped Suprefact injections
May 30th - 12 follies on the left ovary measuring from 12.2 to 18.4 ... 10 follies on the right measuring from 12.7 to 21 ... endo thickness 9.9
May 31st - Triggered
June 2nd - ER - 16 eggs retrieved. That's DOUBLE than last time. I hope this is a good sign!
June 3rd - clinic called, of the 16 eggs, 12 were paired with sperm but only 5 of those fertilized. They want me to come in tomorrow to possibly do a Day 2 transfer and/or talk about our options.
June 4th - transferred two four cell embryos! Left the last remaining embryo to see if it would become freezable
June 7th - got the call that our last embryo started to degress so we have nothing to freeze. Getting so impatient to POAS!
June 17th - Beta at 7. Chemical pregnancy.
IVF Cycle #3
Sept 10th, 2014 - began 0.5 ml Suprefact injections ...going to follow the same protocol as last cycle!
Sept 29th - began Gonal F 225 & Luveris 75
Oct 8th - right side follies: 20.4, 19.4, 19.2, 19.2, 18.7, 17.0, 16.8, 15.9, 15.4, 14.6, 14.2
- left side follies: 20.7, 19.2, 16.8, 16.7, 16.7, 15.7, 14.6, 14.3, 13.8
- endo lining - 9.9
Oct. 9th - Triggered!
Oct. 11th - ER day. 13 eggs retrieved!
Oct. 12th - Fertility report - they were able to fertilize all 13 of the eggs after requesting my hubby bring two samples to the clinic on the 11th. Both samples were poor quality but they found 13 sperm to use. Of the 13 fertilized eggs, only 3 lasted through the night. Doc suggested we do a 2 day transfer TOMORROW.
Oct. 13th - transferred 2 two-cell embryos.. Beta scheduled for Oct. 28!
Oct. 26th - POAS at home and received THREE BFP pregnancy tests!
Oct. 28th - blood test in the AM...started spotting in the early afternoon. Heartbroken and shattered. Clinic called and said beta was 56 but I'd need to go back on the 30th.
Oct. 30th - Beta levels rose to 132. Still bleeding.
Nov. 1st - 3rd beta. Still bleeding. Quite heavily now with clots. Beta is now 369.
Nov. 3rd - 4th beta. HCG # still rising. Still bleeding. No clots now
Nov. 5th - beta dropped by 500 pts. Nurses told me to stop taking my meds. It's over. Another glaring failure.
IUI Cycle #1
October 2015 - hubby begins taking supplements to help his 0 sperm count
Feb. 18, 2016 - RE is THOROUGHLY impressed with hubby's sperm count. 0 to 36 million per ml. Suggests we try conceiving at home, though we've been trying actively since August. Suggests we try an IUI instead of ICSI as well as get an HSG done just to make sure there's not another reason why I keep miscarrying.
Feb. 19 - begin Clomid 2x/day
Feb. 26 - have HSG done - tubes are clear!
Feb. 29 - have follicular ultrasound. One mature follie.
Mar. 1 - HCG shot
Mar. 3 - IUI....RE warns beforehand that the sperm is shitty quality again and they had to thaw some of the frozen straws we had stored. RE says not to get our hopes up. th_agrr.gif
Mar. 17 - AF rears her ugly head. Another BFN.
IUI Cycle #3
May 2016 - FAIL
Welcome MaggieMay! I'm planning on doing acupuncture. I haven't started yet.
Notorious I.V.F.- I wished that the Drs explained why they choose the protocols for us. I guess we have to figure things out on our own!
I requested to get copies of my blood test results which should have my AMH and FSH etc levels, so I can do some research myself
Maggiemay I'm doing acupuncture! I've been doing it for a few months. There are a few studies floating around which seemed to have a slight correlation between acupuncture and IVF and my clinic recommends if so I thought, why not! (Plus it's covered for me which doesn't hurt).
Acupuncture? May I ask why you all are doing it? Its never been mentioned to me, but I have an acupuncturist who I see semi-regularly.  Should I be asking her to poke me in new, interesting places?
Hey everyone,
I will be happy to jump in too.
I'm 31 and DH is 38 we have been TTCing for 3 years. We tried in June 2016 but it wasn't successful and we were shocked that only 3 were fertilized with ICSI out of 12 that all were injected. I ended up transferring 2 not very good ones on day 3 but it was BFN.
We do not have much explanation on what happen exactly. My DH  has low sperm number and quality.
We are starting a new cycle IVF/ICSI in April and the ER would be in early May.
Good luck everyone
Notorious IVF-My gyn (not my fertility Md) had recommended acupuncture. I guess is suppose to help increase blood flow to the uterus and destress. My fertility MD stated I can go for it if I want, but there is no large studies to prove that it increases chances of getting pregnant.
I'm with you Lura! I'll take all the help I can get, it can't hurt!
Hey all. This is my first cycle. I just started the pill a few days ago in prep for an early April retrieval/transfer. Thankful to have a wonderful sister who has gone through all this and can pass on some words of wisdom. However, it's nice to connect with others who are going through the same thing right now. I have been reluctant to let too many people (even other family members and close friends) know about our journey. Anyone else find that they are more tired than usual the first few days after starting the pill? Maybe it's just me?
Welcome ACSaskie!  I've been on the pill for about 4 days now and my energy levels are WAY down.  I'm also nauseous in the evenings.  I don't remember feeling this way when I started the pill before, but I was a lot younger back then :)
Welcome ACSaskie!
We should make a list of everyone's ER and ET dates once everyone knows them. I saw that on the Feb/March Forum. It seems that a few of you are starting on BCP now.
He is doing multivitamins and zinc daily. We tried to see a male infertility specialist to do PESA or TESA with the IVF/ICSI for better quality sperms but we are on the waiting list and the waiting time is at least 6 months so we decided to try this time and see. We are waiting for that appointment anyway but I can't wait 6 months to just see the doctor.
I decided this time to try without telling anyone around me. It is so much less pressure. If I got a BFN, I will not have to talk too much about it but if I got BFP, I'm sure they will be happy for me.
There are so many who got their BFP on the first try. Just be positive and do whatever it takes to get that BFP.
I definitely felt more tired on the pills...fun side effect! :) Actually feeling tired was the major thing I felt once I got on the injections and also preparing for my FET cycle. I was sleeping so much and always felt tired. It's funny how I really never noticed how much I was sleeping. I right now have a one month break till I start my second cycle and I just realized how I'm getting up fresh in the mornings and not having to take naps in the day time...:)
@Lura - I feel you. The first time I around I shared it with a lot of people thinking it;s great getting all the support. But the hardest part was sharing the BFN - its draining having the same sad conversation with everyone. I think this time I'm not gonna share anything...only with a couple of close friends and that's it.
Lura - maybe you should look into ubiquinol to increase sperm quality? Heard great things about it for both men and women infertility. My RE has me on it right now.
We've decided to tell as few people as possible too!  People want a positive outcome, but the questions and the prodding for information is overwhelming!
