Im 39 and on a long road of pregnancy losses.
I've done PGS twice on 4 and 5 (day 5) embryos and only got 1 normal each time. So, I can say that 1/4 or 1/5 of my embryos are normal. I'm going to do a day 3 fresh transfer this time in case my embryos don't like to be poked or frozen. Has anyone transferred 3 or more on day 3? If so, what was the outcome?

IVF#1 Canceled, not enough follies. IVF#2 micro flare 23 eggs =5 blasts= 1 PGS normal. IVF#3 16 eggs=4 blasts=1 PGS Normal. 1st Transfer cancelled day before bc high thyroid. Transferred in Nov 2016 1 PGS embaby, mmc @ 8 weeks. Still have one PGS embaby on ice. Coming Soon: Fresh IVF + fresh Transfer, no PGS.

I transferred 3 3 days on my first attempt at 43 - BFN.  4 on attempt 2 (also age 43) - initially we had three sacs, then 2, and ended up with one perfect kiddo. Final attempt (47) we transferred 4 and that ended in an ectopic.

Fingers crossed for you.

After multiple losses my friend transferred 3 and had triplets.

I know another mom on the site who transferred 2 and one split, so she had triplets, two of which were identical twins.

Best of luck in getting the information that you need to make the decisions that feel right for you.

My former RE transferred 3 after several failed cycles. I was... 36? One was a top-grade 8 cell, a good-grade 6 cell, and a 4 cell. On day 3 - this clinic only did 3-day transfers. Even so, he was hesitant initially and made it clear it was the first time he had ever transferred three. It was kind of a pragmatic decision following BFNs, a chemical and a miscarriage with transferring 2 8-cells on all previous cycles. It was another BFN. It made sense for me with the results I'd been having over many cycles and the cost of transfers, and also with the grade of the embryos. I wouldn't have done it earlier on in my journey (and neither would my RE!) but I'm glad I did it that time.

Wow. Thanks everyone for your imput. With my history I actually feel more scared and likely to get a BFN/miscarriage than multiples.
I'm sorry to hear of your losses and BFNs. I know ectopics and multiple losses are horrible. Kayte I hope you are closer or have your rainbow baby.
I think I will transfer 4 on day 3. The other option is to freeze at day 5 and test again and put my PGS embryo in 5 days after my retrieval. That didn't work last time which is why I feel I need to change it up! I'm taking all the right supplements. Has anyone seen the supplements and acupuncture help from cycle to cycle? I've heard from doctors that it can't help the genetics, just may make the embryo stronger whether it's normal or not.

Thanks again for all your replies. It's good to hear from people who have gone through it. Hard to make these decisions. You just never know what's going to happen.

Regarding supplements and acupuncture, of course not scientific but in 2014, I cycled in april and July. Before the July cycle, I added acupuncture, coq10, melatonin, Royal jelly. And had far better results.

First was 8 eggs, 6 mature, 5 fertilized, 1 4b-a! I think and BFN, none to freeze. Next was 11 eggs, 10 matur, 8 fertilized, 5b-ab, my son and 3 to freeze. I am pregnant from my first fet as well :)

That's awesome Amp. And actually what I was hoping to hear! wink.png

My 2 egg retrievals both resulted in one PGS embryo but my first was a stronger round; more eggs, and the eggs were better quality and more lasted to day 5. I'm hoping it's because I did acupuncture and was more into the supplements the first round. The second round I kinda decided it was all hoax, but I proved myself wrong. This time I'm not doing a full fat diet (which my acupuncturist suggests) but I am doing all the supplements you mentioned and acupuncture. I'm eating healthy, low fat and low calorie, whole foods. The fertility roller coaster has helped me gain 15+ pounds, and I figure that can't be healthy so I'm trying to lose some weight before my egg retrieval and transfer.  I'm not obese, just a little over weight from all the emotional eating and the full fat foods I've been prescribed. Being pregnant and then not pregnant 4 times has been difficult.

Thanks for your story Amp. It gives me hope.  Did you focus much on food during your cycles?

There was a lady on the site who transferred three and was pregnant with triplets. At her second US they discovered one had split and she landed up with four.

Don't transfer more than you'd be able to take care of realistically. I believe two should be a max.

I don't generally ever focus on food. I did the four day cleanse from the woman code book. And then ate normally. Maybe more male that normal lol. I are Brazil nuts during Stims and walnuts and pineapple after transfer. Otherwise just ate what I wanted.
