I got my results from my RE

I have one blocked tube but he does not seem all that concerned.  I knew this already because the doctor doing the test told me this the day of.

My 21 day blood work came back

Very Low FSH he did not give me the number but said it was under 5

my progestrone was 2 so it showed I did not ovulate but I knew that as well...lol

all other tests came back normal (I do not know what tests as he did not say)

My DH sperm tests were great we got the results of those a few weeks ago I forget exactly but count was 90 million, I forget the other numbers one was a 46 and they were looking for anything above a 30.  But there was no concerns there.

We are thinking either IUI or timed intercourse with clomid and metformin

A few questions....is FSH numbers taken on day 21 as reliable as ones taken on day 3?

If there are no sperm issues is there much of an increase in rates with IUI as it will cost about 500 for IUI plus meds.

The doctor made it seem like clomid was a bit risky for hyperstimulation has anyone hyperstimulated on clomid as I thought that was more of a risk for Gonal F and meds like that?

I felt that given my age and only having one open tube we would want a few follicles to grow and it would not really increase my chances of twins but RE implied that it could still be risky so stated we should not go above 100mg and monitor closely.

I have not done IUI or been on Clomid but my sis and best friend did IUI and they started on Clomid and had really bad side effects.  they both asked to be switched to injectibles (Puregon) and both had two singleton pregnancies on puregon.

Hi there -

We did IUI with letrozole instead of Clomid. I tried Clomid with timed intercourse before then, and had a lot of mood swings and bloating.

We also believed at the time that I had one missing or unusable tube - I am assuming your doctor is planning to do an ultrasound to confirm which side is ovulating each month? At least then, you don't have to pay the full IUI fee if the side with the blocked tube is also the side of ovulation (since an egg released on that side isn't likely to make it through anyhow). We had no sperm issues, just the tube, and did not have IUI success. (But then - three of our four months had to be cancelled because I was ovulating on the side with the missing tube.) So  no success, but only spent the money on the drugs + one $350 IUI fee.

I did IUI with Letrozole. Doctor said mostly my right tube is blocked, but they were not sure, I ovulated on the right side and did have success with IUI.

Good luck!
