Just a question for anyone that's experienced a high or low hcg during pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son, my hCG was remarkably low which made me so nervous, but throughout my pregnancy I barely had any morning sickness or other symptoms. But my best friend got pregnant through IVF as well, and she had an exceedingly high hCG and her symptoms were terrible, very rough morning sickness. In my previous IVF thread, I noticed a trend with really high hCG numbers and really high symptoms and morning sickness, etc. like with twin moms. So I'm just wondering if hCG is related to morning sickness directly? Does anybody know? I know each woman and every pregnancy can produce different levels of hCG, I'm just wondering if it's a common link?

It can be yes. As you said, in twin pgs symptoms tend to be worse.

But, the number of times pregnant (whether or not you carried to the end) affects this as well. After five losses, my nausea with my successful pregnancy was through the roof. Hcg was normal. I was on diclectin for 23 weeks and hugged the toilet for 22.

Interesting quandry! I never thought of that! My sister has 4 kids and each pregnancy her symptoms got worse and worse. Maybe our bodies just remember and react accordingly. Thanks for the input and I'm so sorry to hear about your terrible nausea, that's the worst.

My hcg was around double the mean for both pregnancies. I had nausea for a few weeks with both but no Morning sickness. I also have less symptoms this time. Last time I had carpal tunnel and horrible acne. Not this time.

Interesting question! With my twins my HCG was of course very high and my singleton started really low and stayed pretty low but I had zero morning sickness with either. My other two twin momma friends also had zero morning sickness. I have an inkling that some may be more genetically predisposed than others as my mom didnt have morning sickness either but dont think its related to HCG.

To my knowledge, there is a rough correlation between hcg levels and symptoms, but it is not necessarily a causal (i.e.direct) relationship. Lots of women have wicked nausea with low or average hcg levels and vice versa. I think it's still one of those mysteries about which relatively little is known.

Good luck 2brides :)

My mom and sister also had mild pregnancy symptoms so I think it may be somewhat hereditary... or we were lucky!
