I hope this is allowed: I don't know how many of you here are in the Adopt4Life support group, but if you are not, I highly recommend them! They have an awaiting parents group and an adoptive parents group (you get automatically moved from one to the other one when you are matched). They are pretty great, you have to sign up in their website and their Facebook groups and they also do in person support groups.

That's a great idea. I'm sure I will need support since I will have a sibling group and I'm sure each will have different needs.

Just curious from those who did public foster/adopt - how long did it take to get adopt ready (i.e. from starting the paperwork to approval) and how long did it take from approval to getting matched or placed with a foster/adoptive placement?

We are in Alberta. It took us 6 months from when we started our application to when we were approved. We were just matched this week and it was just a couple weeks short of 1 year since we were approved.

Thanks for you well wishes!  We are so excited. We already know that we won't be transitioning until July so we will be busy trying to keep busy for the next while hoping the time will  pass quickly.

I don't have much experience with 5 year old boys but I am sure he will keep us very busy.

My timeline was similar also in Alberta.  it took 10 months to get matched, then I waited 6 weeks for the info share meeting because of scheduling issues.  I will be meeting her about a month after the info share meeting.
