dmccoubs - Two days ago I would have said I would be joining you for sure, we turned down cycling in the January and February/March IVF cycle groups while waiting for our Fertility Tax Credit from our 2016 cycle. We decided the April cycle would be the beginning of our next journey with Heartland, but yesterday we got the most exciting and unexpected news, our very first BFP ever!!! Although we are over the moon with excitement, I am still cautiously awaiting a beta this week and hoping this is the little miracle we have been waiting for.

Even though our 2016 cycle was unsuccessful, I can't say enough good things about the doctors and nurses at Heartland. They were helpful and always willing to answer a zillion questions (even when it was the 10th time I was asking them). If I could give you one piece of advise, it would be to keep networking within these forums they provide so much support and information from other ladies who really understand what you are going through. I found the Heartland boards are usually fairly quiet, but once you know when you are cycling joining your Cycle Buddy group is a must.

I wish you all the best! icon_stickyvibespink.gif

We are cycling right now. I started the stims dec 30th. My last ultrasound showed about 8 follicles ranging in size from 6mm to 11mm. That was last Thursday. I had to double my Gonal f prescription and I go back tomorrow for another ultrasound to see how the follicles are growing. Have you started your meds yet?
IVF# 1 - Retrieval on Jan 13th/17 - 12 eggs retrieved, 9 fertilized with ICSI, 5 survived to day 5. 1 transferred on Jan 18/17. 4 frozen embyros.

Hi ladies,

I'm cycling is February. I had a successful fresh transfer in 2014 and have a 2 year old son. We've had three failed frozen transfers with my remaining embryos since then. Now we're starting another fresh cycle. Hoping maybe my body needs the fresh cycle to work for some reason?? We are "unexplained" , which is always a frustrating term because there's nothing specific they can focus on for our treatment. Im nervous for the shots (hated them the first time)... but it's a means to an end.

We are currently in our TWW of a fresh cycle IVF at Heartland.  (Just transfered 1 embryo yesterday)

I honestly didn't have the best experience through the monitoring & retrieval aspect just in the sense that I felt if I hadn't done my own extensive research I would have been in the dark with a lot of information.

It doesn't help that my Dr (Dr.Lee) is retiring and I haven't seen him since November and my major monitoring week was with a doctor who doesn't even work at the clinic.  Dr Mctavish was who did my retrieval and transfer and I LOVE that man so much. He has fantastic.

The stims themselves, wasn't terrible and went by quick. Retrieval, wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.  I had terrible cramping the day of, nothing a couple hot packs couldn't ease and slept the day away.  Next day I was fine.

If you ever have any questions or need some tips I've learned a lot along the way :)

Do you know when you're starting?

Hey guys! I'm new to this site and was hoping to cycle in October or November. Hopeharder, I had no idea Dr Lee was retiring. This concerns me. I really like him and have found him to be a big help during this whole process.

Hello cnnirka. I'm also at Heartland.

Yes dr lee is retiring he's been my gyno for 12 years. And recently my fertility specialist. I've been taken over by mctavish. Dr Elliot will be helping with retrievals till he makes his permanent return in 2018.

When do you cycle?

For real Dr. Elliot is here doing retreivals???? He was my RE with my successful cycle in 2013. I didn't realize he was here. I'm cycling right now. Been on injections for 10 days now. Have another ultrasound on Tuesday... I expect we'll have our retrieval on Thursday.
That makes me very happy if he is here!!

Dr. Lee is my doctor. Who I also think is great. We are in the middle of a fresh cycle. Should have retrieval next week. We had our son with our first fresh cycle. Theee failed FETs after they. So really hoping my body needs the fresh cycle and we'll have success this time. Only thing that sucks is I had bad OHSS last fresh cycle and ended up in hospital needing my lungs drained... hopefully that doesn't happen this time!!

Ok. We had a failed fresh and frozen. The frozen was natural. Probably going to go that route again. Anxious about the whole thing. Heartland isn't a top clinic and we had our struggles with them but just pray it all works out for everyone who struggles.

Hi Somehowsomeway,

We are just in the process of registrating right now. I jut had my last Fallopian tube removed last Thursday. Needed to be done before we could start the process. I'm so sad he is leaving. Kind of upset nothing was said last couple times I saw him.

Bobbi13

By natural do you mean you didn't have to do any injections (minus the trigger shot)? I've really been looking into doing this whole process as natural as possible therefore looking at other clinic that will allow it. I wasn't aware HL would let me do this!

How are you feeling Somehowsomeway? I'm sorry to hear you had to have it removed. Dr. Lee tried to reopen my left tube in June but it closed back up in under 2 months. It was tough on me going to get my last tube removed but mentally preparing myself for this whole IVF process now and seeing what options I have.

Hi Cnmirka,

The natural cycle is for a frozen embryo transfer. I don't know if you can do a natural cycle for retrieval? Otherwise wouldn't you only get one follicle??

I feel relieved. Actually. We did a cycle our second cycle in Jan before they were removed. Which I needed for my own piece of mind.

It was painful but on the mend. I look forward to moving forward.

I'm glad to hear that people have had good experiences with Dr. Elliot. I wasn't sure what to think when I walked in the room for my transfer and there was a stranger. He seemed good but our fresh transfer failed. I've been seeing dr Lee and he hasn't said anything. About retiring. I did really like him but I find that the further along we get I just find it odd that there were not much discussions about our health history or even discussions about anything else really. My experience has been up and down with them. I find some things are great, others not so much and I find the staff can be rude sometimes. I respect that they are busy but yeesh.

Oh pip I hear ya.

My gf went to both olive in van and Heartland. She ended up with the same results but said olive was way superior

My monitoring appt were garage. Like 5 minutes maybe ten. She said hers at olive were like half and hour 45 counting each follicle. They had a portal to see all results. And the list goes on and on.

My husband doesn't like Heartland that much but of course we NEED them. Did you have success with Heartland at all?

Somehowsomeway - my monitoring appts were similar, very short. Interesting that they were that long for your friend. We just had a failed fresh transfer in January. My sugars are a little high so I am seeing Dr. Lee today to follow up on that. We have not had success but at the same time we have only done the one transfer so far. We do have 4 frozen embryos so Dr. Lee said that they consider that to be a success. I have a unicornuate uterus so we didn't bother with IUI and they can only transfer one embryo at a time. Do you have frozen embyros then from your January cycle?

I'm sorry your first attempt failed. It's so hard. But you are very fortunate to get four more tries at a baby which I'm sure you won't need and they will be future siblings. 😀

Yeah it's crazy. They measured every follicle and were extremely thorough. She was surprised and they could access everything online under their personal portal.

We were very fortunate to have quite a few blasts but it was a freeze all. Tubes came out a week ago. I've suffered from recurrent ectopics. And they well mostly the left but they took the right as well because they are swollen and full of toxic fluid. So follow up and fet for end of march is the plan. We have the option of transferring two because I had failed in the past. A day 3 fail and a failed day 5. I

I know a girl who had the unicorn(her cute term for it) uterus and she had two babies but they came just a little early. But she was ok with that perfectly healthy.
