I am going down for a day 3 transfer tomorrow and am worried about my low grade embryos. We had 9 eggs retrieved after an IUI to IVF conversion, 6 were fertilized and today at day 2 one was 15, 3 were 16, 1 was 16+ and one was 17. Has anyone had any success with such low numbers, also Dr. Hudson mentioned only transferring 1 in the past but do you know if they will transfer more than one if they are not good quality?

I just wanted to wish the best tomorrow for you transfer. I think your results sound pretty good considering it was a IUI to IVF conversion. There are members on here who only had two embryos on day 2 and transferred them both and ended up having twins. Others have transferred two on day three and had twins. Of course there's those of us who transferred good embryos on day three and it didn't work out.

If it's your first IVF I'd imagine VFC would prefer you transfer only one, although they may allow two if they aren't great quality. Regardless I hope you have success. Keep us updated!

I am not sure how your clinic grades embryos but mine were both graded low.

I did a 3dt with a grade c embryo - and a 2dt graded the same 3 - so both were Graded C or 3 (A and 1 being best quality) - both worked :D

My doc says many things can hapoen in the womb and the womb is the betteer than the petri dish for embryos :D

Good luck to you!

Thank you for the support. When we went in for our transfer we were told that two of the embryos had improved, one was an 18+ and one was a 17, so that was better than we were hoping. Unfortunately, my uterus was cramping too badly to do the transfer. Dr. Hudson said it was probably a combination of the retrieval and my body reacting to all the hormones.

We froze the two good looking day 3 embryos and are hoping that the three that were at 16 catch up on day 5 and give us some more to freeze.

We were very disappointed, every Christmas for the past three years we think that it will be our last without children and it gets harder every year. We are trying to stay positive and hope that 2017 will be our year!
