I received my pre-treatment protocol yesterday. No endometrial biopsy required (didn't make sense when they told me it was required as we are doing FET after PGS and it is usually used to make the uterus more receptive to an embryo). I will continue OCP until January 29th, and will do orgalutran injections January 25th to 29th. Then I wait for AF to show up before starting stimms. Last time I had ER on day #17 of cycle, so if that holds true, ER should be between February 15th (AF shows up day after OCP end) and February 27th (AF shows up on my regularly scheduled day).

Just jumping the hoops of our clinic to try to get a paper prescription so I can order most of my medication through ivfmeds.com. It would mean a $2000 savings for us on this cycle.

Peanut I found it helpful to follow one of the previous month's forums to have an understanding of the process. At your first appointment have a thorough understanding of your protocol and know when you will be followed up.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum but have been going through fertility treatments for awhile now. Prepping for my third embryo transfer in February with a switch to the long protocol - fingers crossed!!! Our first was IVF funded by the government so we could only transfer 1 embryo and our second was a FET with our single frostie. This is the first time we've had to think about a single or double embryo transfer (if we are so lucky to even have two good embryos) and we're really struggling with the decision. At this point we would do anything for a th_abfp.gif but are nervous about the risks that come along with twins. The other hard part is that we are probably going to have to make the decision on the spot on the morning of our transfer. Is anyone else struggling with this decision?

Pattis, wecome and I hope you are successful. This forum is for ladies going through IVF retrieval. The February FET thread is here: https://ivf.ca/forums...ruary-2017-fet/ You'll probably find people there with similar questions and experiences as you.

Hi Returnable. Sorry, I'm new to the online world so it looks like I didn't explain my situation clearly. I am doing a full IVF cycle this time with retrieval.

No worries! Happy to make sure I'm in the right group.

I'm doing the long agonist protocol this time. I'm taking the BCP and Suprefact right now. Will be starting stimulation with Gonal-F and Luveris sometime in late January depending on my bloodwork. Hoping for retrieval sometime during the first week of February. This process has been a lot longer than my first IVF but in a way that is ok as I can stay in the "hoping it works" stage longer before having to deal with the reality of the outcome. I have been with the Ottawa Fertility Centre since the beginning.

I may be not too far behind you. I finish OCP on January 29th, and then it is just a matter of when AF shows up. Last time my retrieval was on CD#17, so I expect a mid-February or the week after retrieval.

Yes, it looks like we won't be too far off. Hoping things go smoothly for you and fingers crossed for success for everyone on this thread. My retrieval was CD#14 last time but I'm not sure how things will compare this cycle with a new protocol. I find the uncertainty of the timing a struggle to deal with. Trying to manage my work schedule so I can take a day off at any time is not always easy. I debated taking more time off around the retrieval and transfer but decided I would prefer to have time off when we find out the results of the cycle.

Yes the timing thing is a struggle for me as well. I have a business trip upcoming that I had to keep telling my boss I couldn't commit on the date as I wasn't really sure what was happening with my cycling. Right now I just gave him a two week window when I couldn't travel. DH also has a week of business stuff at his regular location, but it would be a challenge for him to take off, however that whole week is withing our ER window....it sucks...it's stressful, but we have no control over it. We are both very dedicated to our jobs and our bosses see that.

Hey Ladies! We will be doing our first IVF cycle the first week in March, i am starting the birth control pill next week! I have no idea what to expect, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time! We also have to travel to Ottawa as our province does not offer IVF!

Feeling a little hopeful and nervous!

Hi charaW and LNewfoundland. Welcome!

LNewfoundland - I'm cycling in Ottawa as well and just took my last BCP today. Looks like I'll be just a few weeks ahead of you. What IVF protocol are you doing?

charaW - congrats on your green light! The wait can feel so long sometimes. It's so great to finally get things going. I have never done PGD but it might be something we consider in the future if we don't get our BFP this time.

Welcome charaW and LNewfoundland. I am sorry for your struggles in getting to this point.

charaW - with PGD they would need to do you and your husband's genetic profile looking for your specific genetic abnormality and then develop a customized test for what you are trying to screen out. PGD takes more time than PGS as the test actually has to be developed for your specific case. We did PGS during our first IVF. The process of sampling is the same for PGD and PGS. They grow the embryos to day 5 blastocysts, take a few cells and send out for analysis. It generally takes about two weeks to get your results back. I would caution you to take it one day at a time and not make plans on when FET will be. As many women here will tell you, there are many road blocks ahead between now and a take home baby, and you can get stopped at every road block. I am not trying to be negative here, just realistic so you don't get your hopes up for something that may not work out exactly like you want. I have seen a few women crumble because of this.

LNewfoundland - sorry that you have travel on top of everything else. Any idea what your protocol will be?

charaW - then it's just a matter of the blastocyst biopsy on day 5/6 and waiting about two weeks for the results, though perhaps for the PGD it may be slightly longer as they are doing a custom test.

edubbs14 - welcome. You are better off in this group as generally people are in the buddy month when their egg retrieval will be. I will be about a week behind you (depending on when AF starts). What is your protocol? Is this your first IVF?

returnable - yup, first one.  I'm starting with 125UIs Gonal-F, plus Menopur - Orgalutran starting day 6, if all goes according to plan.  My gut tells me this is a low dosage, so I'm going to request additional monitoring to make sure things are growing.  How are you doing?

What is your dosage of Menopur? If it is one vial, then it is 75IU, if it is two it is 150IU, so with the gonal-F you are looking at 200 to 275IU in total, which is not a low dose. I would expect that they need at least five days to determine how you are responding before adjusting your medication. I assume they have set the dosage based on your case and their past experience. Good luck with your cycle.

Hi edubbs14. I go for blood work on the 27th and if everything is ok I will start the stim injections that day or the next. Looks like we'll probably be on very similar schedules. This is my second IVF and I triggered on day 10 last time with 150iu of Gonal-F. I responded well but could have been better so my dose has been increased to 162.5iu this time.
