Hi I'm a newbie
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on what to expect after reading my journey please. ?

We have been ttc for around 6 years and had no joy we decided to have ivf I've had all my tests done like blood tests and HSG/dye x ray everything came back normal so I have unexplained fertility.
I had my 1st consultation couple months back to which in was told I had to be 19 bmi in order to have ivf which is around 8 lbs thankfully I have gained this so I rang the clinic and booked my appointment to see the consultant. ( I was given 6 months to gain the weight and I'm well within that time frame )
So I was wondering what to expect on Wednesday,
Would I be officially on the ivf list awaiting for treatment
How did it go for you guys who dint need to gain weight or lose weight?

Thankyou for reading xx😘😚

Ash89. Have they looked at your FSH, AFC and AMH? What were those values? I will assume here that you have a male partner? What tests has he undergone?

Different clinics have different waiting times for IVF. At our clinic if you have funding privately, basically once you have your protocol set by your doctor, you proceed with your next cycle.

Welcome to the community!

Hi Returnable

I've had FSH test which came back fine I had a scan too to which I was told I ovulate etc I'm not too sure on the others as I had to go away and put on weight so maybe I've not had them yet due to my low weight and yes I have a husband he has had his seme analysis which came back normal.

I think Im just getting nervous and frustrated now and over thinking stuff doesn't help.
I just wondered what they will discuss with me on Wednesday.

Thanks for reply x

They may need to do a bit more testing before they sent your protocol. Your AFC is your antral follicle count which is done on day 3 of your cycle where they count the number of visible dormant follicles on each ovary. It gives them an idea for that cycle what to expect in terms of the baseline follicles that they will try to stimulate. Your AMH is a blood test that can be done at any time during your cycle. You can read a bit more about that in a summary I had put together for myself:

https://ivf.ca/forums...it-explanation/

For your husband's semen analysis, did they just look at count and motility? There is another test that looks at the DNA fragmentation. It is especially important if your husband is older.

Good luck at your appointment. Most of the time the not knowing is the worst. Use this forum and the many women on it with many years of experience to educate yourself. You are not alone on this journey.

I don't think I've had that test done yet then maybe your right there's more testing to come. For my hubby they only tested for motility and count he is 41 in November. I guess I only going to find out what the full sketch is on Wednesday

Thanks for all the help xx

DNA fragmentation tends to increase with age, so I would bring it up during your appointment.

It feels so long ago that we had our initial appointment with our RE. I felt like we discussed our preliminary results and any further testing that needed to be completed. When we completed a couple of more tests we had a follow up appointment to discuss a summary of results and then the IF treatment options. We are also diagnosed as unexplained.

We started out with clomid and IUI for many unsuccessful cycles then we decided to do IVF. Your RE will cater your IF treatment plan based on you and your partner. Hope you make some progress on Wed and find this forum group informative and supportive.
