Afroil we are a week apart, would be funny if we ended up delivering at the same time. I'm at BCW's as well and was there on Wed for my NT scan and Harmony blood work. Glad your apt went well!

Dawn- Thank you. I hope i start to feel better soon too. Is exciting to feel the baby move. I do sometimes but not offten. Maybe too early.

Breezy- im glad the fatigue is getting better. I remember you saying that fatigue was the main symptom tou have. I think the nausea and headache is probably the weather change or flue. Which i hope not because i was sick with a stomach flu for few days and it was terrible. Good luck with you anatomy scan. Im sure all will be fine as it has been until now.

C-Ross- Headache suck i get them occasionally as well bit at least you dont have nausea and vomiting. Thats sucks too as you cant keep anything down. You lucky you dont have a lot of symtpms. Good luck with your ultrasound next week.

Hi ladies, it's been a while since I posted so much has happened.

Loo- I'm so sorry, your going thru this, you are in my prayers.

CDGal- sorry for the loss of one, I thank God your second bundle of joy is doing good!

AFM, I too loss one :( and like you CDGal it was after a good ultrasound of both at about week 10. I had a fall the day after that scan and bled. At the follow up appt. the doc couldn't find the heartbeat and we saw no movement from one of the twins. I can't help but to blame myself sometimes. My obgyne is awesome! She is very optimistic, she said she's sure it wasn't the fall and explained how she saw a diff in the twins, she said she doesn't want me to blame myself. She said all this without me ever saying anything but the facts about the fall. I thank God for her!

Other than that I am doing much better now, occasional nausea, occasional headaches and I still have fatigue but all of those symptoms are much more bearable than before. I just had an appt this past thurs and the baby actually looks like a baby! He or she kept turning from its back to its side. It was so good to see! I'm 13 weeks now.

I had my amnio this week and it went ok.  Because of where baby and the cord were sitting they had to go in at a place with more nerve endings so it was ouchy, but at least there have been no complications!  I was super tired after so I took an extra day off work which was a nice treat!  I binge watched netflix all day!

The bad news is when I was checking out of the hotel (had to go to the City for the appointment) and I put the print out of my u/s on the counter (so it wouldn't get wrinkled in my purse) and the hotel clerk saw it and said, "oh, are you having a grand-baby?"   I laughed it off, but it was crummy.  Technically it's possible to be a gramma at 43, but still, why not err on the side of caution?  Or just say, "oh a baby!"  She wasn't even that young, probably in her early to mid 30's, so she should have known better.  Argh!

Everhopefull - Sigh.  People are eternally stupid and inappropriate.  Although it's hard, try not to let it get to you.  I deal with this all the time, as my husband is way older than me, so he is forever called the Grandpa or my Dad or whatever.  It hurts a little every time, but just try to let it roll off your back.  People should know better than to assume anything.  And 43 is NOT old to become a mom!  Jeez.  So glad to hear that your amnio is done and that it went ok.  Fingers crossed for happy results!

IVF cycle #1 - August 2013

- early ultrasound (7w1d) --> one baby with a heartbeat of 125! yahoo.gif
- miscarriage at 7w4d, discovered at 9w1d ultrasound. Devastated sad.png Doctor suspects miscarriage was due to poor egg quality on a chromosomal level due to low estrogen during stimulation phase.

IVF cycle #2 - January 2014
- retrieved 29 eggs, 5 made it to blastocyst stage, transferred two embryos, froze three more
- 9dp5dt hpt BFP!!! th_abfp.gif beta test --> hCG = 12, 11dp5dt hCG = 22, 15dp5dt hCG = 22 --> looks like another early miscarriage or possibly vanishing twin?
- 24dp5dt hCG = 83 --> WTF??? Could be ectopic?
- 26dp5dt hCG = 36 --> this cycle is over (6w5d).  Recurring Pregnancy Loss bloodwork panel done.

IVF cycle #3 (medicated FET) - June 2014
- March 6/14 lupus anticoagulant blood test result is weakly positive sad.png re-test result = negative / borderline weakly positive... doctor is satisfied that clotting is not an issue.

- induced cycle with progesterone (cycle 108 days long!)

- second ultrasound (8w4d) --> baby measuring right on track, HR 170 bpm!  preggo.gif
Sept. 4/14 - First Trimester Screening ultrasound (NT scan) --> healthy baby passed with flying colours!
Oct. 27/14 - 20 week ultrasound --> baby looks perfect, but diagnosed with "Velamentous Cord Insertion"
Dec. 5/14 - 26 week ultrasound --> unable to confirm VCI
Dec. 16/14 - High risk OB appointment - interpretation of previous ultrasound is that we have marginal insertion, not VCI.
Jan. 19/15 - 32 week ultrasound --> baby is measuring at 90th percentile!
Mar. 15/15 - due date!
Mar. 25/15 - after a difficult 34 hours of labour, our beautiful little miracle, Kira Rosalie, was born at 2:05pm, weighing a very healthy 10lb 9oz!  We are so in love with everything about her and are so thankful to finally have her in our arms! (surprised that when we saw the placenta, it WAS Velamentous Insertion after all!)

IVF cycle #4 (medicated FET) - fall 2016 - time to try to make a sibling for Kira!

May 12/16 - found out I have gallstones (caused by pregnancy) and need to have my gallbladder removed!  Grrrr!  3-4 month wait for surgery.   th_aggahhh.gif Decided to do a fresh IVF, freeze-all cycle while we wait.

July/16 - my screwed up cycle never showed up, so now we have run out of time to do a freeze-all cycle before my surgery.  Now we have no choice but to wait until October to do our FET.  It's always something. eusa_wall.gif

Sept. 1/16 - gallbladder removal surgery

Sept. 15/16 - started BCP to induce long-overdue cycle (three months and counting...)

Oct. 8/16 - CD#1

Nov. 3/16 - transferred one day 6, 4BB embryo

Nov. 10/16 - HPT BFP!!!  (8dp5dt) th_abfp.gif

Nov. 12/16 - beta #1 = 74! yahoo.gif Estimated due date = July 21, 2017! Nov. 14/16 - beta #2 = 113.  Only a 53% increase, 79 hour doubling time.  Ugh. Nov. 16/16 - beta #3 = 267!  WHEW!!

Dec. 6/16 - viability ultrasound - saw a happy baby measuring on track at 11mm, HR 145bpm!  Yay!!

Jan. 9/17 - First Trimester Screening is all clear and baby is perfect!  HR 170 bpm :)

Argh!

Wow - talk about rude... I'm sorry she was so inconsiderate. No, it's not out of the realm of possibility but she needs to keep her mouth closed. When will you get your amnio results?

PS - I am 41 and about 4 of my friends I knew growing up are grandmas! :/

I had another prenatal appointment today, the nurse found the heartbeat right away. :)  I'm starting to see my chiropractor and I got a note for prenatal massage. Those things saved my life last time. I'm officially in maternity clothes now - I tried to wear a pair of stretchy jeans on the weekend and it didn't go well. lol.

How's everyone doing?

Everhopeful - that's so terrible! I don't think that would happen here in Vancouver where it's super common to have kids in your late 30's early 40's. I was discussing my age (41 in a couple of weeks) with a doc at the hospital and he said "yeah, like everyone else in Vancouver". There's  a lot of grey hair and wrinkles at preschool drop offs so it makes me feel better. I prefer to cover mine up with highlights ;-) Speaking of which, has anyone had their hair coloured/highlighted during pregnancy? I've booked myself at the salon for 16 weeks for foil highlights because it's driving me crazy, but I'm a little hesitant about it.

I'm glad your amnio procedure was ok. How long before you get the results? Did you do any other screening or straight to amnio?

I decided to do the Harmony test as well as the IPS screening. And I'm super anxious about the results. 10 working days cannot come fast enough. Our NT scan went well, but I read on the WTE board this morning about a mom who's baby has T21 and her NT was normal.

I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and my energy levels are better and the I'm no longer taking anything for nausea. I've started telling people about the pregnancy because my belly is getting pretty big and I can no longer hide it physically. Makes me pretty nervous still to tell people, because I was trying to protect myself in the event of another loss by not telling anyone. Praying everything is ok.

Momagain:  So heartbreaking.  I am incredibly sorry.  Thinking of you.

Cdgal:  You are never far from my thoughts.  Pray everything continues to go well for you.

Everhopeful:  A**hole! Jeez, that is totally rude.  Hope your amino results are good and you get them soon.

Lumnay: Thank you for the kind message.  I'm not sure where you are in your journey, but I hope you are in a good space.

Kim2:  Ugh, I'm in the 10 day wait.  I think NT is typically pretty accurate.  Hope you get those results soon.

Breezy:  When is your anatomy scan?  Keep us posted so we can cheer you on and offer support.

AFM, no real update.  Had a r/p US yesterday, more fluid around Twin B and this time the nasal bone couldn't be visualized.  Anxiously awaiting my results but then I wonder if the results will make a difference?  My obs thinks there is a high chance Twin B will not make it regardless of the diagnosis, the issue is exactly when this will happen.  She explained the longer we wait to decide, the bigger Twin B grows and if the baby passes say at 20 weeks it will trigger labour and I lose both.  I seriously have no idea what to hope for... do I hope for a genetic condition that's incompatible with life so I feel less guilt ending Twin B's life?  Do I hope for a normal chromosomal screen knowing that unless the fluid is much better on the next US (scheduled in 3 weeks) I will likely have to end Twin's B life anyways?  Do I hope Twin B passes away naturally and now?  Do I take the risk of losing them both?  I'm feeling pretty lost.  I know many of you have gone through difficult times, you understand how crappy this whole is.  Ugh.
