No bump yet!  I'm overweight though, so I know I won't show until later.  I think I was around 6 months into my first pregnancy before anyone could tell.  I could tell sooner, but it didn't really show to the outside world until then.  And I'm not one of those graceful, lovely pregnant ladies with the beautiful, smooth bumps...I just get blobby and puffy!  I'm not complaining though, I'll take a blobby and puffy pregnancy over no pregnancy any day!

I'm starting to feel more excited too!  I've told all the negative people in my life and they said their negative things so that's over with.  We found the heartbeat, and I'm just starting the 2nd trimester so the risk is going down.  I feel like I can finally start to relax a bit, which is really nice!  Amnio is on the 16th, if everything goes well with that then I'll be able to really start to enjoy it!  It's nice to be feeling more like myself after feeling blue for so long!

Im just starting to show now a bit. I got really heavy with DD almost 100kg. Then i droped 30kg within a year time so i went back to almost my original size which felt amazing. Now i feel chunky a bit but because i was sick and nauseas all the time for a while now i lost 2kg but i know ill gain it all back soon enough. I said to myself this time around i will watch what i eat and not gain so mich weight but who know. With dd i was always worried so i didnt feel like buying cute clothes or doing anything so i was just eating to make me feel better.

I went shopping today and got some cute stuff. And as you said now that my ultrasound went well and my nausea is subsiding, im starting to get excited and more like myself.

Happy New year everyone!

Such amazing progress to read on all of your u/s, baby's heartbeats and finding out gender.

We did our reveal over the holidays and we had an influx of love and support. 15 weeks today. I've started to show and want to go shopping for some new threads. My nausea has subsided but still feeling tired, hoping to get the increase of energy in this 2nd trimester soon :)

Hi Ladies,

Its so exciting that everyone is hearing the heartbeat and going for their ultrasounds! After I went for my 12 week one...it finally felt real to me! We also announced our pregnancy via facebook with our dogs and it was a huge hit!

Is anyone else having really bad symptoms? My first trimester was tough...I was sick from morning until night. I was prescribed the anti nausea drug but that did little to stop the vomiting.

Now that I am 15 weeks, I am finding that I am still sick frequently but am also dealing with frequent migraines and back pain. I don't sleep much at night so am exhausted in the morning (I feel asleep in a meeting last week....so embarrassing!!) I have missed quite a bit of work and its to the point that my doctor said that I should consider going on medical leave. I work in Calgary and live in Airdrie so the commute is about 35 minutes each way and she is worried that since I am feeling so awful, driving is an issue.  For me, I am worried about leaving work this early. I guess it just feels weird to have to speak with HR and tell them that I am feeling so sick already. I just feel weird about it. I know I can't help it, but still.

Is anyone else dealing with this?

I'm not dealing with it this time around, but I did with my first pregnancy.  Slightly different symptoms, but same end result; I was exhausted and in rough shape.  My Dr sent me home for a week to rest and had me come back in for a check-up at the end of that week.  I was feeling better enough after a week of rest that he cleared me to go back to work.  A couple of weeks later and I was in rough shape again so he sent me home for another week and we went through the motions again.  I basically worked 3 out of every 4 weeks for that whole trimeste, until whatever was causing me the trouble resolved itself, and then I worked right up to 4 days before my due date and was just fine.

I think for me the headaches were a hormone thing, so whenever it was that my pregnancy grew/changed enough that those hormones changed I stopped getting headaches.  My back pain was because the baby was sitting on a nerve (there's a name for it but I can't remember), so when he moved the back pain went away.  And then I was fine.  Hopefully whatever is causing your pain is just a phase in your pregnancy as well, but it's probably worth talking to your Dr about trying a short term leave and see if that helps!  It may not have to be a full leave right now.

Feel better and good luck!  Keep us posted!

Thanks Everhopefull!

Unfortunately I have chronic migraines so I get them quite often but once I started the fertility treatments and got pregnant, they vanished and I was so happy! But in the second trimester I have them frequently again. The pregnancy symptoms are okay to deal with...but once they are paired with one of my Chinook migraines....I can't cope.

I am going to speak with HR today ahead of my doctors appointment and see what my options are. Everyone in my family has had pretty easy pregnancies and I did not except to feel like this all the time. I am constantly winded. I can start making dinner but then will need to sit down and rest for a bit before getting up again and actually making it! They told me that the baby is sitting on a nerve as well which is causing the back pain. Hopefully I can get this all resolved one way or another. Maybe I just need a few days off to feel better. I took two weeks off at Christmas and was only able to come back for a few days before being off again.

Hope everyone else is feeling good! :)

Dawnkey- that's such an adorable announcement, I love it!

Sheena - I haven't really had nausea or vomiting but lately I have been noticing my headaches are becoming more frequent and my back is definitely aching already. Hopefully you can get everything sorted out with your doc and HR and come up with a good solution that will help you feel better.

I used to have chronic migraines too, and mine stopped when I got pregnant as well.  And just like yours, mine came back during a period of my pregnancy.  I didn't do anything different, but one day they just stopped again and I didn't have another.  Even better, I haven't had another migraine since that pregnancy, 6 years ago.  I still get some wicked headaches, but nothing compared to a migraine.  I'll just keep crossing my fingers that you'll have the same luck!

I do the same drive, Sheena. I only have to drive to the NE though. With road conditions lately, I can't imagine how tough it's been for you. Are you able to work from home at all? Even if its just one or two days a week? Also, try to get in to see Dr Melanie at Blessingways Chiropractic in Airdrie. She is great and getting adjusted on a regular basis may help with the headaches and pain.

If nothing else, take care of you. If you need to - take a medical leave... you need to stay healthy and happy. Maybe just take a leave for a couple of weeks... extend it if you have to.

I'm sorry you are having such a rotten time - feel free to PM me, we live in the same city. lol.

Hi Ladies! I've been following along daily and love reading everyone's updates. It's so encouraging that all the pregnancies are progressing well. Love it!

It's been a rough trimester for me so far. I'm 12.5 weeks and still feeling pretty rough physically. Nausea (although the ginger has really helped with this), headaches, pains, insomnia, and the exhaustion...it's killer. I can totally relate to you Sheena in terms of trying to make dinner and needing to sit down. Funny, because my first pregnancy was a dream once I actually got pregnant. I loved being pregnant and couldn't understand why so many women hated it. Now I understand where their complaints were stemming from! Thankfully the depression has passed because that was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Can we talk genetic screening/testing? I'm feeling very anxious about what to do. I had intended to do the NIPT (Harmony) test, but didn't want to do it until after my 11-week ultrasound because I was too nervous the ultrasound would reveal bad news. Well, the u/s was fine, but the hospital had run out of NIPT kits when I went to do it (go figure!) and because of the holiday closures it meant that I wouldn't get the results for a few weeks anyway. At that point I could already have done the first set of blood work and the NT u/s for the provincially paid IPS tests so I opted to go that route. My NT u/s is on Wed and I'm regretting not doing the NIPT, because the accuracy is higher than IPS. I'm torn because even if I get a screen negative result with IPS, I'm still going to worry it's a false negative. I'm leaning toward doing the NIPT as well even though I know it's not recommended to do both. I dunno, maybe I should have gone straight to CVS or amnio if I'm this worried about it. I know these are very personal decisions, but does anyone have any thoughts, advice or want to share your story regarding prenatal screening in this or previous pregnancies. Feel free to PM me as well.

We struggled with the same choices Kim2.  In the end we decided to go for the amnio because we're in a risk group, but if I were you I would do the NIPT test as well as the IPS.  It's only not recommended to do both because they don't feel you should have to, not because there is a risk to you or to the baby.  They're both non-invasive, so if it gives you peace of mind you should do it.  Particularly since you were planning to spend the money anyway.  I'm all for peace of mind!

Kim2 - If you think you will still worry even after getting favourable IPS results, then I would do the NIPT as well if I were in your shoes.  Anything to reduce your anxiety is a good thing, right?  You can do NIPT at PCRM if you want - it's a bit more expensive than elsewhere, but the genetic counsellors do a wonderful job of interpreting the results for you, which might be a good thing in your case, as you can ask whatever questions you want, etc.

As for me, I'm 12.5 weeks now too!  We had our FTS ultrasound yesterday and I was a teary mess again seeing our perfect little baby wiggling around on the screen.  I just can't believe this cycle was a success!  I still feel twinges here and there and can feel my uterus growing when I press around... I'm still in disbelief I think, since this was our last frosty and it was given such low odds of success.  Maybe karma is finally catching up with me smile.png  I'll try to attach a photo from the ultrasound.  It's a head-on view, so hard to tell what's what, but head is on the right, and you can see the little arms curved up on each side toward the face.  So darn cute.  I have been having so much fun planning my daughter's big girl room, which she will be moving into well before the baby comes.  We just announced our pregnancy to the world today, so hopefully today will be filled with happy messages from excited friends and family!  I'll also try to attach the photo we used to share the news.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Kim2- Same! My first IVF pregnancy I also had absolutely no symptoms. No fatigue, nausea, sore boobs... Absolutely nothing!. I also question the same thing about people bitching about it. And now this second pregnancy I get what they were talking about LOL. My biggest complaint of anything though has just been absolutely horrible fatigue where I can hardly function. Definitely messed with day-to-day activities, work, my marriage pretty much everything. But thankfully it has improved over the past week significantly.

I decided to do the Panorama and the IPS (mostly because IPS gives you an ultra sound and tells you about spina bifida). After my disastrous last pregnancy, i really felt that 800$ was a small price to pay (akin to cremating a 22 week old fetus) to find out early on about any issues. The panorama tells you a lot about a whole bunch of chromosomal abnormalities. In light of my history, my doctor didn't protest when i said i wanted both, in fact, she encouraged me to do it but was sad that i didn't qualify for government funding.

I have my 12 week ultra sound on the 18th and then i meet with my OB to review the results of the ips and the panorama. Super excited.

I love the announcements!

BTW, for those who don't have children already, how are you announcing it on facebook?

Thanks for the input ladies. Kadima, that really does put things into perspective. I'm so incredibly sorry you had to go to that experience. I just can't imagine...

I'm going to do the NIPT test, it's only money and I don't care if someone gets upset with me going ahead with both.

Love the announcements ladies!

I was thinking of just posting this picture and saying something along the lines of:

When this "bump ahead" street sign showed up on my front stoop, i thought it was just a sign of my mixed neighborhood and a random act of vandalism... I guess it took much longer than we'd ever imagined, but the bump is definitely ahead. So excited to announce that we are expecting a baby in the summer of 2017!
