Heard from the lab this morning and I'm gutted. Only 1 blast and it's very poor quality. I only had 1 blast in my last horrible ivf cycle, but at least it was 'average' quality. I'm numb and don't know what to think or feel.
This cycle seemed to be so much better..but the outcome actually worse. 10 embryos to one poor quality blast. I think I'm just going to curl in a ball and hate the world today.

Me -29 31- unexplained poor egg quality. I was told I had endometriomas.....but repeat ultrasounds at other clinics have said no sign of endometriomas. Maybe PCOS-like ovaries, but no PCOS - AMH, AFC are great. No one can explain why my eggs are so poor sad.png

DH 30 - severe teratospermia, count and motility are excellent.

May 2014 - 2.5mg femara - BFN (ovulated night before)

June 2014 - IUI with 5mg femara - BFN (ovulated night before)

August 2014 - IVF with ICSI - Antagonist protocol, 150Bravelle, 75 menopur, stimmed 8 days

- 19 follicles (all 15-22mm at trigger), 12 eggs retrieved, 7 mature,, 5 fertilized with ICSIsad.png

- only 7 mature eggs with an estrogen of 20000?! wtf?! Sigh...Freeze All

-only one BB Blast made it. Freeze "all" became "freeze one". All others arrested between day 3 and 4 sad.png

January 2015 - FET of lone embryo - c'mon little figher

- BFP!!! Beta 1 475 at 10dp5dt , Beta 2 - 1495 at 12dp5dt

Baby boy born Sept 28/15

Watermelon I am so sorry.  This all sucks and it makes me angry.  I am sorry you have to go through this.

Yaena and Sweikum- congrats on the transfer.  Hoping this one is your BFP!

Sorry I am having trouble remembering everyone else, but it's good to see everyone moving along in their cycles.

Thanks for all the positive words.  I am a natural pessimist and it plays some ridiculous games on my heart and head.  During my transfer I had no discomfort (besides my full bladder).  I didn't have any cramping until 4 hours post transfer and then they went away.  Yesterday and today I have been having some cramps and twinges and I am trying not to look into every single tiny symptom.  In my head I am pretty sure this has failed and was a waste of money and caused unnecessary stress, but in my heart I am hoping for a miracle.  I am no way going to be able to wait until my beta.  I will have to POAS.  I am trying to get myself on board with waiting until Saturday (which would be 7dp5dt), but I feel that is probably not happening.  I bought some pregnancy tests a few months ago when we started our first cycle, I some how misplaced them.  Where do pregnancy tests even go?  So I bought some more today, I bought the expensive, the most accurate first response ones so I am hoping I can wait until Saturday and that that little stick has some good news for me.  Anyways I am off to finally take down my Christmas decorations.  I have been putting it off far too long.

Agh Watermelon that sucks. I felt like we were all doing so well, and then there's so much heartache that comes. Look after yourself.

cj123 - is there someone you can talk to? My clinic included a free counselling session with my IVF cycle, and it was so amazing to just sit with someone impartial and have a good long cry. Not sure if helpful or not - sorry if not. Thinking of you.

Went in for CD3 monitoring. Waiting on FSH but AFC was 12 (was 13 our last cycle so very similar). Picked up the meds but waiting for a call from the clinic in terms of blood work. I think we should be good to go.

Getting nervous now for some reason.

Also, they had me drink a litre of water before my appointment and now I cannot stop peeing.

Well 7 day check in wasn't horrible I guess. Lining is less than 5. Left side about 5 biggest one measuring 7 I think. And right side about 6 more biggest one measuring 5. They are keeping me on the same doses and go back Saturday for another look. So 7 days in and 3 more to go. Just happy something is happening. Slow and steady I am fine with I would rather them be decent quality than just a whole bunch. And as we all know not all the follies will have eggs in them so hopefully we get one really good one that turns into a blast.

How's everyone else doing today?

Hi all, thought I would give you a quick update. My egg retrieval went well and I got my '18 hour' call yesterday, where they checked how many had fertilized. I went from 14 eggs to only 8, which I was a disappointed about. I was hoping for at least 10. We told my Mother-in-Law who was all excited, and had to try to explain that they all don't make it. It's such a weird experience. I also feel insanely guilty for leaving my little embryo's growing in a lab with strangers - which sounds insane.  If there is anything this process has taught me it is the weird times I feel things, and the bizarre feelings I have. Pandora - you are right, nerves can hit at any time!

The CRAZIEST thing though... My clinic doesn't check on my embryo's again until day five, when I am lying there ready for the transfer. I was totally expecting a day three call, and I don't know how I am supposed to get to Sunday without bursting. Just thinking about it now makes me a little short on breath. They won't even know if there is anything to transfer until I am at the clinic with my knickers off.

I am also still feeling a bit sore, bloaty, crampy. I'm worried my body won't be ready for transfer on Sunday, and I'm even thinking about doing a freeze-all to give it some time to heal.

Secret- glad to hear things are starting to really happen for you!

I have never heard of that before! I too would be freaking out without knowing how they are looking each day! Glad you er went well though!

Are things really progressing?!? I have been googling. Bad I know and now I am worried that I am way behind for stimming for 6.5 days and worried that they aren't changing my med dosages etc.

Lisa - That would drive me insane not to hear that long!  That's so crazy.  I found it hard enough to have no call on days 2 and 4.  I can't imagine how you would be feeling!

S_secret- I hope your next appointment goes better and that they see some steady growth.

Tellette - 12 is a great number!  I hope they all fertilize and develop into healthy embryos!

AFM I caved and POAS this morning knowing it would be negative (only 4dp5dt).  Sure enough it was.  So that's that.  It didn't seem to upset me or not upset me because it was just as I expected.  I will likely wait until at least Friday if not Saturday to test again.  But we will see how good my will power is.  At least I work the next couple days so the 12 hour shifts will keep my mind occupied at least.  Beta Monday, still being my pessimistic self, hoping I'm wrong, but fully expecting this cycle to fail.

Wow - no checks between day 1 and 5? That would be awful to wait through!

Secret - On day 5 for me, I didn't have anything larger than 7mm. Day 7 I finally got a better report (even then most were under 10 still). They didn't bump up my meds until about that point - I had a hard time understanding why too, but in the end I had great results (not a lot of eggs but really good quality). I think often they prefer the slow and steady, and I know my clinic's goal is only to get 8-12 eggs for that reason.

AFM - got my last update today, Day 6 for my embryos. We ended up with two to freeze in the end :) :) We are very, very happy with that - of 7 eggs, three ended up being frozen/used - I feel very lucky. Now just to wait it out until beta on the 26th.

Yaena - That's amazing news! FX for beta!

Baseline was today, AFC 12, FSH was 13 which is higher than its ever been before. I was freaking out that we would be cancelled but just heard back from the clinic that everything looks great and to start stimming. I am not going back in till CD7 which is different than last time when I went in almost everyday so hopefully that means a slow longer stim time to give more eggs to come in and the quality to be better quality

Secret - its so hard to trust the doctors, I tend to google everything too so I get it. I know my numbers really took off after the 7 day US. Hopefully you get good news on Saturday. I was on the stims from Dec 30th until Jan 11th and retrieval was the 13th so 15 days in total but 13 days of stims. Also I think it was you that asked me before but they did have to do ICSI for our embryos.

Yaena - congrats on your 3 embryos! Did they say what quality they were?

Pandora - my first check was on day 7, hopefully that means good things for you.

Lisa - lmao!! I totally get it, I've been feeling over protective about my embryos too. I also teared up when they showed me a picture of the one they transferred, hahahah! Then I text my parents and my friends a copy of the picture.. I was also a little insulted that my mom was the only one who said it was cute. lol so I get where you are coming from.

AFM - I had my transfer today and apparently the embryo they used was very high quality so so excited for that!  They also did the assisted hatching thing. I went for acupuncture on the way home and am taking it easy watching a movie and relaxing the rest of the day. The lab said we had another high quality embyro that they are freezing today and 4 or 5 more that were really trying to make it. They are calling with an update tomorrow to let us know if they were able to freeze anymore or not. It ended up being a doctor on call that did the transfer but he ended up being great. I'm always so nervous cause of my unicornuate uterus but while the nurse seemed to struggle a bit with the ultrasound the doctor was great and seemed very knowledgable about my condition. The worst part was the 45 minute delay waiting to get in the room, I thought I was going to burst.

Thanks ladies and thanks pip for the info. Makes me feel better as we are at the same clinic. I called like a loser to see what my blood work was like and if there was anything I needed to know and the nurse was like "nothing to report. It was as expected". Kinda mean in her tone. Whatever I am probably over sensitive. I really hope this doesn't become a cancelled cycle.

Congrats pip on being pupo. How long we're out here for? Was it like an IUI or did you get to see where they put it in on the ultrasound? Could you see the blast?

Oh and that new dr Elliot took me by surprise this am too but he seemed nice. He made DH take notes in my chart while he read out numbers lol

Secret - I do find sometimes they can be a bit short/rude. They also only ever called me and gave me numbers when my estrogen was too low. We were in the room I think for about 15 minutes. The geneticist talked to us about our embryos while the doctor and nurse got everything ready. I never did do iui. With my uterus I can't carry multiples so we decided it wasn't worth the risk. They do put the ultrasound up on the screen and Dr Elliot was great. He did show me the embryo once it was injected which was really neat to see. He seemed very confident and competent, I was nervous at first and the nurse didn't seem to know about my uterus issue (she was having a hard time finding my "whole" uterus) but he piped up right away and said "that's it right there, she only has the one side." He also took the wand from her a couple of times when she was having a hard time positioning it and he would find whatever he was looking for immediately. I hope they keep him on.
Lol! Smart! Saves him time and keeps your Dh involved. Good luck with everything, Saturday I would think would me a more quiet day there.

Thanks pip that gives me a good understanding of what to expect. I liked dr Elliot too. I don't know what's going on but hopefully he can stick around for a while! So awesome that you got to see it once they put it in. I hope there is a lot of digging in and getting nice and sticky in there for you!

I have to admit - I'm a little jealous of you ladies who were able to see the embryos being transferred! I only got to see it being sucked into the catheter in the incubator - no "internal view". (DH though had his eyes glued to the ultrasound screen. Also, just like you Pip, the nurse had troubles finding the right spot with the ultrasound at my clinic too! My doctor took it from her a few times and corrected it.)

And yes to feeling so protective/emotional about the embies! I think it is why I feel a little calmer now - because at least it is in me, I am caring for it. Total nurture instinct! When I saw inside the embryology lab at transfer, it only added to that feeling - I mean, all these incubators/isolettes like in a NICU, each with someone's embryos inside. It was amazing. And we shared our "baby photo" with our parents too! My mother in law cried :) DH and I just keep looking at it - we're planning to put it on the fridge :)

Pip - not sure what the quality of the second frostie was. The first was a 3B yesterday (possibly a 4 - the doc said both it and the one transferred were 3's early that morning, and she suspected they would be 4's by the time of transfer/cryo.) I know there was another letter but I can't remember it :( I asked the embryologist who called today what the quality of the last one was, and she just said "Good. It would have to be good quality or we wouldn't freeze it." Haha - I didn't push her but she is new. Clearly hasn't realized that women actually want the real grading info.

You guys are so good! You totally 'get' going through this.

Secret - I meant to tell you... On my day 7 they cancelled the ultrasound because I was responding so low, but they didn't change my medication which confused me. They said some women just take longer - hopefully there are more follies there for you at the next one.

YaenaSK - how are you going with the 2ww? The 26th must seem so far away. Are there any foods you are eating/avoiding? My Mum said I have to put my legs up the wall for the whole 2ww and she offered to come and cook for us during that time - I had to explain to her that's not actually necessary, but it was so funny.

I can't believe you guys have encountered rude nurses/clinicians. That is so bad!! I feel like I have asked so many questions (including specific blood test results like my estrogen/progesterone levels etc). Make sure you stand up for yourselves and get the info you need - it is YOUR body after all.
