I don't know about everybody else who's been through IVF, but I have found that follicle growth/ovulation in my natural cycles has been more painful. I am not sure if because I am more aware now, but I do find it more painful.

Pandora89 - Hopefully with the changes your husband has made things will be vastly different this time around.  It sounds like even small changes can have an impact on the numbers.

I think in general now I am just more aware of growth or ovulation during any of my cycles.  I never thought I would become so knowledgeable/aware about cycles and what it all entails.  Actually, I never thought my husband would be as knowledgeable about a women's cycle as he is!  He used to be the type of guy that would squirm whenever 'that time of the month' was mentioned, now he adds his two cents when he can lol.

Happy new year everyone!! I hope everyone had good holidays!

I got my period just before Christmas. I felt like my body was all weird because of the IVF and I was supposed to have my period right after the letrozole. I even (very optimistically) googled if you can get pregnant after all your eggs are taken out and you have no sex. Haha. So this period really felt like a good reset of my hormones. I have been feeling a lot better since. We have an appointment with the doctor in 2 weeks to discuss the FET. I expect to get my period a few days after the appointment, so depending on what the protocol is for a FET I may have a transfer in early February. Very exciting thought, although the idea does not really register in my mind yet. Right now, it is just nice to be away from the clinic for a bit.

How is everyone doing? I think quite a few will start cycling soon, right?

Hello everyone and happy new year!

I just had my wtf appointment with my RE today. I think it went well, we covered everything I wanted to know. He said I was doing better than he expected (egg quality, etc) and basically, my issue is down to implantation and they don't know why exactly they didn't implant. So then I asked about immune testing, my RE said he is not a firm believer as there is not enough evidence to back it up, etc. He can get me do "Lupus anticoagulant" and "anticardiolipin antibodies", but that's about it. If I decided to try again with my current clinic, he wants to wait 3 months so that my body can reset.

I did mentioned that I want to seek second opinion and he supports my idea as well. I have submitted my referral to two other clinics that are out of town and now I am just waiting to hear back from them.

Hope you all are doing great!!! flow.gif

Has anyone done a menopur only antagonist cycle? RE has advised that's the protocol he wants to try for our coming cycle. I was googling online and reading that women with DOR shouldn't do menopur only/high levels of menopur because we tend to have already high levels of LH. Any experience?

He wants to do 450IU of menopur starting from CD3.

Wen1218 I am glad that you are moving forward and have found the direction you want to take.

V016 I hope your symptoms ease.

SunnySkies so happy that you are gearing up for FET. It will feel real for you very soon I am sure.

Pandora89 I am sure the doctor has measured your LH levels. I know mine are fine and not elevated despite DOR. I would say to have faith in your RE. It is impossible to brush everybody with DOR in broad strokes and expect the same protocol (just read about the variety in this small group).

Returnable - Thank you for being a voice of reason. My LH levels were always within normal range so I should trust my RE. I thought I was doing much better by not obsessively googling everything this time around but I guess not. I will stay off google going forward.

Pandora - I am in the same boat right about trying not to google everything.  This time around, I am working on trusting in the process.  I mean IF I was to be googling I am sure it would tell me I shouldn't be on BCP, but I'm not going to google it (at least anymore).

Clearly not being on BCP hasn't worked either......

I had to remind myself the same thing when my protocol changed. I was also weary of OCP, but understand more why they are used with DOR. Honestly I still google things, but with a different perspective, trying to learn why something is done, not why it shouldn't be or what someone says is better. All I try to do is educate myself to understand how my body works. I find all of this really interesting.

What helped with trusting my doctor and not doubting every aspect of the protocol, was to google my doctor. Turns out she went to medical school and then did an additional 7 years (!!) of post graduate training to become a fertility specialist. No way google can compete with her clinical expertise. Knowing this really helped me to just go with the flow and focus on the things I could impact. Eg doing the right amount of injections, take my prenatal vitamin and show up for ultrasound and bloodwork.

I still Google some stuff and ask questions but mainly because I like to understand how my body works.

Hello Ladies! Happy New Year :)

Made it to Vancouver today. Day 4 of stims and blood work tomorrow morning. I totally obsess on Dr. Google too!!! LoL Especially during stimming.... I am doing the same protocol as before and but this time the added benefit is I've been taking CoQ10 and Vitamin D faithfully for 4 months now. Hoping this makes a difference this time. Meds are going good so far. Just feeling tired a bit but we did travel pretty far the last couple days. The Menopur sure likes to burn tho after a few.

Where is everyone at so far? Anyone stimming too?

Aurora I never really tracked my estrogen, plus I was estrogen priming right before, so that may effect the values anyway. Hope all is going well for you.

How is the stimming going aurora? Hopefully still feeling well. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

How is everyone else doing?

I got a bad cold, so it made me extra happy to get that out of the way before the transfer. Less than a week before we see the doctor again and should get some information on the FET protocol. Getting very excited for this!

SunnySkies thank you for asking! I feel a bit alone this cycle compared to all of us ladies before.

Yesterday was our first U/S we measured 6 follies. 13,12,9,7,7,6 and E2 was 931. Another one tomo morning...that will really show us where we are at. I've had headaches this go around.... probably scrolling over google too much lol

Hope your cold goes away fast for you! That's so exciting to get to your FET :)  Will you have to do alot of injections/meds to prepare?

SunnySkies the colds have really been bad this year. I hope you get through it quickly. Good luck at your protocol appointment. Let us know how it goes.

Aurora that's great news! I think this is better than your last cycle? The January IVF thread is very small. So far the February one is as well.

AFM AF arrived today so I called in my day 1. Should be going in for bloodwork the next couple of days and finally find out what is coming up for pre-treatment. I have found that since my last IVF my cycle lengths have increased from 27/28 to 30 days (consistent now for three months). Anyone else notice a change in their periods after IVF? When I was younger my periods were about 30 days, so it's like I have gone back to that.

returnable - My cycle lengths have changed after my first IVF as well. My regular cycle length is about 26 days. But my last two cycle lengths were 30 days and 29 days. Other than this, my period is also much heavier.....I hope my body can reset soon.

Hi EOE!! Hope you are all doing well.

Wen1218 I'm glad I am not the only one. I don't mind for the most part, but it's hard to be patient with a new IVF coming up when I expect to have a 28 day cycle. I know just two days, but this IVF journey is just a trial in patience and accepting what you cannot change :)
