Hey everyone I've I had a stressful couple days. How is everyone? Feeling okay?

I need some help... I am a card dealer at a casino where people are smoking right in front of me all night and some people are even rude enough to blow it in our faces. I have been getting really bad anxiety because of it and i am so worried about my baby. My IVF dr won't even talk to me until tomorrow and I'm supposed to work tonight.. My OB can't get me in until next week and my normal dr is supposed to call me back within 24 hrs but that doesn't really help me either. Id just quit and find a new job but my pay loss would be SO BAD. I wouldn't be able to live.. idk what to do sad.png

I don't think working one night is going to have detrimental effects.  I agree that you should talk to your employer for safer working conditions.  There have been lawsuits for servers who got cancer from second hand smoke for a reason.  They should be able to offer you a position where you are not surrounded by smoke all day.  I really hope they can accommodate you.  I am also curious what your Dr. will say.  Maybe you can get some kind of medical leave if they can't accommodate you?  Such a tough decision :(  *hugs*

travellingsands- Dont know much about thyroid issues, I am sure they should be able to treat it with some meds.

tattedmama- Agree with ML88. Hoping things get better for you.

Ladies, I am a little worried. I dont feel some of my prego symptoms anymore like nausea, itchy ears and sore throat.(after my accu session on saturday). I do feel sleepy though. I am getting concerned, if this normal or no, especially I did feel nauseous earlier but now I am not. Seems so long for the first u/s.Not sure if I am over analyzing.

Hopefully everyone is feeling good

For my first pregnancy, I had nausea for maybe a week.  No other symptoms until I got lovely acne on my back and chest.  Try not to stress over it.  Everyone is different.  Fatigue is really the main thing at this point.  I have some nausea but fatigue is my main symptom right now.  THere is nothing "normal" about any pregnancy as everyone has such a different experience even with subsequent pregnancies.  Do your best not to stress although it is so hard!

So my boss made it very clear that they wouldn't make people stop smoking. And if I get transferred to another department I won't make even half as much because of how much I make in tips :( My drs assistant said they'd start the disability papers but couldn't do anything about a note until tomorrow. :( but I'm pretty sure they're taking me off!

Tattedmama, I had one more thought...I'm not sure where you are, but here in Alberta we have HealthLink, a 24 hour line you can call to discuss anything health related with a nurse. Perhaps there is something similar in your area?

Binks, im pretty sure that means that acupuncture works! My acupuncturist told me yesterday that she will start treating my symptoms if I have any next week. It is supposed to help with nausea, etc. So I think it's great that you were able to ease your symptoms. I wouldn't worry.

Binks - I wouldn't worry either because symptoms come and go. Plus like Ml888 said the acupuncture treats symptoms so it's likely working! I haven't had any nausea this pregnancy, and I don't even feel AS tired as I did my first. But it's really hard not to over analyze things in absense of solid proof that there is a baby growing inside you!

Tatted - what a crappy situation :( but it sounds like this will be best for you and baby!

I saw my dr yesterday and started on synthroid today. He didn't seem all that concerned he said that's why he tests early, to catch this sort of thing. And from what I've read hypothyroidism can be pretty common in pregnancy. So I'm trying to just stay positive! I have my 7 wk scan on Monday :)

I'm going to a wine and cheese event tonight. Any good tips for keeping things under wraps and not raising suspicion? What do you think about non alcoholic wine (which is actually less than 0.5%)

I would have no issues drinking a bit of non-alcoholic wine if it didn't taste so gross lol.  I would just say I have a migraine and wine aggravates it or something.

Hi everyone!  I am new here.  We did FET on Oct. 6.  First beta was on 10/20 at 127.  My doc seems concerned it's on the "low" side.  I have another blood test on Monday, 10/24.  Feeling nervous, but trying to stay positive.  My previous fresh cycle had really high betas, but ended in miscarriage at 9 weeks.  Any experience with lower betas and healthy pregnancies?

Welcome Trish! I also had kind of low beta and had to go in for a second test. They were happy once they saw it had doubled and had no concerns. I'm only in week 5 though so who knows.

Travelingsands, if you go with your hubby you can walk around with the full wine glass then switch him once it's empty. I also heard about people walking around with a full glass then emptying it in the bathroom. A few weeks ago I went to my parents for dinner and they asked, hey do you like maple cream, and I enthusiastically said yes!! Then they brought out this maple cream liquor and poured me a glass. My hubby is lactose intolerant so he could even drink it for me! I pretended to take a few sips through the night, just getting a bit in my lips, then tossed it in the sink when no one was looking :) no one would buy "I have a headache and can't drink", lol

Welcome Trish and Shannon! Best of luck to both of you. It's exciting to watch this group grow :)

ML888 I love your story lol. I ended up telling the host (my friend) ahead of time that I'm pregnant and bringing non alcoholic wine. I poured a glass when I got there and hid the bottle in the corner away from the other wine and nursed my glass of grape juice all night (that's seriously what it tasted like). It definitely wasn't good lol, but it looked like I was drinking wine all night! Success!

Hey Ladies!  I have been a creeper for a while and decided to join. smile.png  We completed our FET on Oct 7 with a five day embryo that didn't reach blast stage so the embryologist said my chances pregnancy was lower. On Oct 19 I took a pregnancy test and it was POSITIVE!  Oct 20 clinic confirmed I was pregnant and my due date is June 26.  My first OB/GYN appt is booked for Oct 25 and my 7 week ultrasound is booked Nov 7.

After a fresh cycle that resulted in miscarry at 7 weeks and 1 failed FET our son was conceived in 2012 from a 2nd fresh IVF cycle.  At 27 weeks my son was born weighing 2lbs and 6 oz. He now is a healthy energetic little boy, no health conditions. With this pregnancy I will followed by a high risk OB/GYN which has given me some options on how to go to full term which I will this time smile.png.  This decision on having another baby didn't come lightly to me. I feel I will need some support through this pregnancy as I am a worrier. I just can't wait to have this little one in my arms smile.png

Binks, (hahaha, my phone autocorrects your name to ninja every time ), my clinic did one extra beta because my first one was low. I believe most clinics don't send you for a second unless the first was lower than what they like to see.

Hey Binks I'm sure by now you're almost at U/S but if it were me I would ask my family doc to send me for another beta, I have a good one that is sensitive to my concerns. If you really wanted the beta but didn't have a doc to ask you could always just go to a walk in and say you are pregnant but concerned and ask for a blood test to confirm, but I'm not sure if that's the high road... anyway fingers crossed the wait passes quick or you can get some confirmation or reassurance :)

Hi Ladies,

Big welcome to Trish and Shannon and Fergie! Awesome to see some ladies from the cycle buddy groups finally join us (Shannon).

AFM sorry I've been MIA lately. I'm finally over the OHSS and cleared to go back to work. What a ride! I'm nervous after almost 4 weeks total off unplanned in the last 5 weeks - the last 2 weeks have been unpaid because I ran out of sick leave. I hope and pray for a healthy pregnancy for baby, but also so I don't have to miss more work in the next few weeks. I really don't want to tell my boss until 12 weeks because right at the end of Nov she'll be making a decision of whether to extend my contract or not and I don't want my pregnancy news to affect their decision. I have a job either way but permanent job is in the call centre and this acting contract is in HR which i wayyy prefer and pays more too. I can't imagine being chained to my headset for 8 hours a day while pregnant. I get to move around a ton more in my current job.  And I'm already worried that these unplanned absences will affect things (even though they shouldn't)...

I'm excited to watch this group grow! It's hard to discern between OHSS signs and regular pregnancy symptoms so I'm sorry for not responding to the sign analysis comments (I had pretty much all of them at one point during OHSS lol) but now that all that jazz has calmed down (lost 14 pounds and most of my big tummy whoop whoop!) my breasts are incredibly sore and I'm super tired at the end of the day, like can barely move. I still have some AF like cramps in the early mornings. Just waiting for the nausea to come back from a brief 1 week break between OHSS and pregnancy kicking in... our U/S is this Friday at 1pm. We can't wait and hope and pray for a strong heartbeat.

I signed up on our provincial waitlist for a midwife - would love to be low risk and able to use one. Anyone else in Calgary using a midwife, if so which clinic? I'd love to know.

I appreciated the posts about drinking events as I have a few coming up, good ideas on how not to arouse suspicion.

Everyone keep well, I'm sending sticky baby dust continually to all of you until we get our heartbeats and out of the danger zone!

Re due dates. I figured it out. RFP counts ER day as the ovulation day and the day after as conception day so that's why the numbers are a bit different depending on what date calculator you use. The LMP date doesn't work at all of course because the stim period can be shorter or longer than a normal AF.

My ER was Sept 25 and my ET was Sept 30th. Multiple online calculators say June 18th and RFP says June 19th. I can handle that flow.gif

Hey Love, my day 3 transfer was on the 27th. The nurse that called after my second beta said due date was June 18. I was surprised because I have this IVF app on my phone that told me I'd be due June 15. So I have no idea how they calculate. Maybe from retrieval? The date is 38 weeks and 1 day from my retrival. There is an online calculator that says the date should be the 17th if conception was on the 24th (retrival day). You retrieved on the 20th? You should be 4 days before me?

I'm going in for prenatal blood work this afternoon that my GP (family dr not fertility) is sending me for. Feels a little silly but I guess it's just to make sure levels are good? There's no beta or anything included.

I'm confused about my due date too although I know if doesn't matter in the long run. The fertility nurse told me June 10, but the online calculator on this site says June 9. I had a 5dt on sept 21.

Symptom wise I'm feeling good these days but I've had some spotting since last Wednesday. It comes and goes. There isn't actually anything on my panty liner but when I wipe there's a bit sometimes, and it mixes with my progesterone so it can come out a light pinky brown colour instead of white. No one is concerned - fertility nurse, or GP...but I don't like it. It freaks me out to see any colour. My ultrasound is next Monday so I'm just hoping it doesn't get worse and that this really is nothing. I didn't have any spotting at all in my first pregnancy.

Thanks ladies for the warm welcome.

Loveislove- I too experience moderate OHSS with my son after our fresh cycle.  I feel your pain.  I was so sick and look 6 months pregnant at only 6 weeks.  So happy that you are feeling better.  The best sound in the world is hearing your babies heartbeat for the first time.

I heard that midwives don't usually like to take women who have used IVF to conceived.  I would have loved to have a midwife with this pregnancy but can't as I have to be monitor closely this time.

I had the best nap ever this afternoon.  Usually by 3 pm I am getting tired.  I haven't really had an appetite these past couple days and my breast are so sore. Looking forward to my first OB/GYN appt on Tuesday.  I have a list of questions for him on what I should and shouldn't be doing.  He was also going to do some research on what happen before I went into with my son so we can decide if he is going to do the stitch or continue progesterone at 20 weeks.

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend.  Grow babies grow! <3
