Hello,

I was too dumbfounded to ask this question earlier today while in the REs office. Now that I have had time to digest the news I need more info, and my RE is gone for the day.

My first scan, last Tuesday, showed that everything was progressing really well, and the heart beat was 118, and we were 7 weeks. Today at my second scan, 8 weeks,  our lil bean had doubled in size, but the heart rate has dropped to 81. My RE, who is amazing, said all we can do is wait and hope. I couldn't think straight and left. Having had morning sickness this week I was full of so much hope.

My question is, is there really any hope at this point? What are the statistics on a successful pregnancy when the HB drops?

Appreciate any input, good or bad.

That happened to me as well; unfortunately, I went for a scan the following week and there was no heartbeat.

But as the doctor said; have faith and hope and rest as much as possible.

The average 160-180 bpm around 8-9 weeks.

I am sure you are doing the same thing I did; search the internet and seeing what Dr Google says. Wait to find out what doctor says next week.

I am thinking of you :) It is a difficult process; and there is always obstacles.

I have no experience but am thinking of you and hoping for a positive outcome.  This process is so difficult and it always seems like once one worry is gone, there is another to take its place :(  *hugs*

I also had this happen, and I'm sorry to say that the baby's heartrate continued to slow until it stopped at 9 weeks. I immersed myself in googling the question, which probably wasn't the best thing to do. I share only because you ask, that everything I found said that a heartrate below 100 is almost always not successful. I have always said that the 2ww after a BFP is much harder than the actual 2ww. So much can happen, and often it leads to more uncertainty, not less. In my case the transfer immediately following that one lead to my beautiful son. I truly hope that by some bit of magic your little one ends up being the exception to all of nature's rule and that you have wonderful news at your next US, but for the time being, and whatever happens, do what you can to take care of you. For me, even though I knew that it was almost certainly not going to go the way I wanted, I tried to visualize loving my tiny baby inside me, and mothering it in the few weeks that I had.
