Hi ladies, I am scheduled for my second FET June 1st.  I am so unsure what I should and should not do afterwards during the 2WW.  My clinic nurses are so inconsistent that I am confused.  One says take it easy, no exercise, another says resume normal activities right away just no heavy lifting. . . ummm, not helpful!  I know a lady at work who did at FET well after 40 and she was told by her clinic in the US as she was an older first time mom she was on strict bedrest for 72 hours then very restricted activity and rest for the full 2WW.  That seems crazy. . . Help!!  I am taking the day off after FET and trying to decided how much more to do, or not to do!  I am a nurse in a busy unit and work 12 hours...

Thanks for your help ladies!!

I don't have specifics for FET or due to your age but when we did our fresh cycle, I was just told to take it easy for the rest of the day.  I read some things online that doing some activity helps with blood flow to the uterus.  For me, I didn't really do anything extreme.  The day of I just watched TV and hubby brought home dinner for us.  Had my last glass of red wine :) And the next few days just did normal stuff but no exercise or heavy lifting but certainly not bedrest.  You aren't going to make the embryo fall out or anything.  Once it is in there, it is in there.

Age 40, DH 44 in Oct.

TTC on and off since 2007 before our second IVF, in 2014, brought us our beautiful son and our first FET brought us our second son in 2017.  Our family is complete!

IVF #1 - April 2014 - BFN - no frosties

IVF #2 - July 2014 - BFP - 5B-AB and 4 frosties (5B-BB, 2x4B-BB and 3B-BB)

Apr. 13, 2015 - Daniel Erik was born at 5:05 am, weight 8 lbs, 13 oz, and 22" long.  He is perfect in every way.

FET #1 - September 2016 - BFP - 5B-BB and 3 frosties (2x4B-BB and 3B-BB)

June 18, 2017 - Matthew William was born at 2:46 am, weight 8 lbs, 11 oz and 21" long.  He is perfect in every way too!

Here is my take on things, it doesn't matter what we do! I have taken weeks off work and I still had failed cycles. No lifting, no sex. no nothing and it still failed. I don't believe anything anymore, because truthfully we continue to find ways to make it so that it is not our fault. In reality, pregnancy's happen each day regardless of age or circumstances and so I have come to accept the fact that if it is not meant to be it won't, I have stressed numerous times and hours over pure nonsense, spotting, twinges, no symptoms, symptoms, faint line, no line, beta low numbers, beta high numbers, just pure waste of energy. So I hope all the best for you but whatever life has in store, it will be.

I think amazing grace has it right. Live your normal life. Dont make any drastic changes or do anything extreme like sit in a 120 degree sauna.

When an embryo implants, it because it's a viable embryo and a receptive endometrial environment. ... it's not because you personally did or didn't do something specific.

I'm 41 with endo

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

    9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

    BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

     7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

     BFP:  day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

     .... it stuck and we welcomed our boy March 2017!

back on this crazy journey again: June 6, 2018: FET #1...

Butterfly Baby,

While I do agree with Amazing Grace and hs4816 - if it's meant to be it will be regardless of the percentages and statistics - there are some things my specialist recommended (which applies to any age).

1. Minimal to no caffeine - increase in other fluids

2. DHEA 74mg daily

3. 5 Methylfolate (folic acid) 2mg daily

4. Like hs4816 says, do what you normally do.  (although I plan to take it very easy and rest more than normal).  If you walk every day - continue to do so but don't take up running.

5. Don't raise your body temp to high.

6. Try to stay positive - visualize your baby in your arms - unless that makes you sad.  I'm big on picturing what I want to manifest - I am knitting little baby things already.  I'm sure that could end with buckets of tears but for now I'm enjoying it.

I am 41 & on day 3 of my IVF hormones with hopeful FET in July after PGS.

May you receive what you wish for.
