Teagan - I did acupuncture during the cycle. I think it helped. If we do another cycle I think I will be much more relaxed. It was the not knowing what to expect that was super stressful. Those days following and waiting for embryo development updates were pretty terrible. I'm guessing that part doesn't change much between cycles.

It seems like the FET process isn't as consuming so if we get to that stage I'm hoping I can relax.

Congrats to you! All of these results give me hope.

Good luck on the ultrasound today!

I'm 41 with endo

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

    9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

    BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

     7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

     BFP:  day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

     .... it stuck and we welcomed our boy March 2017!

back on this crazy journey again: June 6, 2018: FET #1...

devastating day for me today. baby was measuring just over 6 weeks and I'm 8 weeks. ultrasound tech pointed out the fetal pole, yolk sac and then the heartbeat. she said she just had to confirm with dr. and left the room. she returned a few minutes later with a dr. and they repeated the transvaginal ultrasound. she told me the baby was small and there was no heartbeat. after that we met with our fs and he told me the baby had died and he prescribed me a medication to cause miscarriage. we didn't book another scan since he seemed confident that there's no hope. so I'm sitting here in bed crying my eyes out with a glass of wine.

I'm so very, very sorry to hear that Teagan.  I have felt that exact pain and it is absolutely heartbreaking.  There is likely nothing anyone can say or do to make you feel any better right now, so just know that we are all thinking of you.  Life is just not fair and I will never understand why some of us have to struggle so much and deal with tragedies like this.  Try to be good to yourself and take all the time you need to grieve and be angry.  I'm so sorry.

Me: 36, DH: 66 (failed vasectomy reversal in 2013)

IVF cycle #1 - August 2013

- early ultrasound (7w1d) --> one baby with a heartbeat of 125! yahoo.gif
- miscarriage at 7w4d, discovered at 9w1d ultrasound. Devastated sad.png Doctor suspects miscarriage was due to poor egg quality on a chromosomal level due to low estrogen during stimulation phase.

IVF cycle #2 - January 2014
- retrieved 29 eggs, 5 made it to blastocyst stage, transferred two embryos, froze three more
- 9dp5dt hpt BFP!!! th_abfp.gif beta test --> hCG = 12, 11dp5dt hCG = 22, 15dp5dt hCG = 22 --> looks like another early miscarriage or possibly vanishing twin?
- 24dp5dt hCG = 83 --> WTF?
- 26dp5dt hCG = 36 --> this cycle is over (6w5d).  Recurring Pregnancy Loss bloodwork panel done.

IVF cycle #3 (medicated FET) - June 2014
- June 27/14 transferred two embryos (still one frozen)
- 9dp5dt beta test #1 --> BFP!  hCG = 60 th_abfp.gif  So happy!!!! yahoo.gif11dp5dt beta test #2 hCG = 79, 13dp5dt beta test #3 (4w4d) hCG = 200 !!!!  Yay!!!  So relieved!

(surprised that when we saw the placenta, it WAS Velamentous Insertion after all!)

IVF cycle #4 (medicated FET) - fall 2016 - time to try to make a sibling for Kira!

May 12/16 - found out I have gallstones (caused by pregnancy) and need to have my gallbladder removed!  Grrrr!  3-4 month wait for surgery.   th_aggahhh.gif Decided to do a fresh IVF, freeze-all cycle while we wait.

July/16 - my screwed up cycle never showed up, so now we have run out of time to do a freeze-all cycle before my surgery.  Now we have no choice but to wait until October to do our FET.  It's always something. eusa_wall.gif

Thank you all for your kind words. It's encouraging to know I'm not alone. I'm going to take some time to grieve and heal before even thinking about what's next. It still doesn't feel real at this point.

Teagan I am so heartbroken to hear this news! Sending huge hugs your way. I'm so bitterly disappointed for you. At least in my situation things weren't looking good from the very beginning. But for you, everything pointed towards a good outcome. So very very disappointing.

I have to take misoprostol too. I'm a little terrified. PM me if you want a buddy to go through it with.

Misoprostol is not that bad, in the grand scheme of thing. Stay very, very near a bathroom at all times and expect nasty cramps. I really hope the misoprostol works for both of you. I so wish miscarriage wasn't a thing. Like, once you get your BFP it was certain. Hugs to you both.

Agreed - Misoprostil wasn't too bad at all. I found it started working very quickly, and the bleeding was similar to a heavy period. I think I had some cramps but nothing crazy. The worst parts for me were thinking too much when I inserted it (I kind of went into shock) and looking at the 'aftermath' (terrible word, sorry) before flushing... Unless you are ok with seeing things, maybe try to avert your eyes. Good luck. It should be over quickly. I found that in the following days, quiet time outside with my husband helped, as did taking a break from the boards because I couldn't handle reading about others' successful pregnancy news. Sending big hugs your way.

Took the misoprostol last night and pretty much nothing so far. I was hoping to avoid having to use the second dose. Tempted to take it a bit sooner than the 24 hour mark...

I decided to repeat ultrasound next Tues (just for closure I guess) before taking misoprostil. I feel kind of silly since I know it's over, but I think it will make me feel better about taking the meds. Does that make sense?
Violetta is that common for it not to work? I'm praying it goes ok for you.

When I had my first miscarriage the misoprostol didn't work. I did it for 48 hours and at the very end passed a big clot that I was sure was it, but wasn't. They offered me another try with it, but I opted to go the surgical route just to get it over with. The OB I was seeing said it works about 30% of the time.

Teagan, I don't think it's silly. You need to follow your gut at times like these.

Teagan I think that makes perfect sense. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope Tuesday brings you some closure.

This misoprostol is really not working for me. Even after the second dose, nothing. They say it works for 80% of women. But then again, so does reproduction :P

Teagan I'm chiming in with the wise words of others in  solid agreement of your choice.  I know I would do the same thing.

Violetta-sorry you are having to endure more struggle. I think the most negative thing I have learned from the IVF experience is how unfair it is and how little sense it makes. One would think that having gone through what you have, the meds would at least work and it would be easy!

Excuse my ignorance but why do doctors opt for the medication route rather than surgery-is it safer? A friend of mine in Kamloops had a d and c after no heartbeat and measuring 6 weeks at 9 weeks and was not offered any other options. She had to wait like 5 hours in the emerg department. ..

MegPC - if your friend was bleeding that might be why. Surgery is the more urgent route. But yes, medication is less invasive. D&Cs although generally safe, carry a risk (like most surgeries) of infection, hemorrhage, and scarring.

I don't know if anyone else from our group is still waiting on results, but beta was BFN. Worst day ever.

I'm sorry freshview. I've been there. Take whatever time you need to grieve. You never really know how you'll feel until your there. I found it helpful to think ahead and focus on whatever was next, but not everybody does. <hugs>

Teagan and violetta, I've been thinking about you both too. So awful that this process has to be so hard.

I'm 41 with endo

IVF #1: March 2016: Long protocol: Suprefact (200)/Menopur (225)

    9 follicles => 4 eggs => 3 mature => 3 fertilized (ICSI) => 2 blasts (one transferred, one frozen)

    BFN

IVF #2: June 2016: Microdose flare: Suprefact (40 BID)/Menopur (150)/ Gonal (300)

     7-10 follicles (?) => 12 mature eggs => only 4 fertilized w/ICSI => transferred 2 @ 3days and 1 blast frozen

     BFP:  day 14 beta = 93, day 18 beta 557 (37h doubling time)

     .... it stuck and we welcomed our boy March 2017!

back on this crazy journey again: June 6, 2018: FET #1...

Freshview, I am so so sorry. I'm saying bad words in my head right now because of how unfair this is. I was really rooting for you. Maybe I'll see you on here in a few months if you decide to try again. In the meantime, look after yourself. Big hugs.

hs - how are you feeling? You must be near graduating from your clinic! Wishing you all the best xo

Thanks. I feel mostly fine. Still nervous but I think it's starting to feel real. My clinic doesn't do much beyond the one ultrasound so I'm waiting for my family doctor (and of august) and will ask her for a referral then. Same time as nuchal translucency scan ... end of the month.
