My same sex partner and I are navigation our way through the ivf process with an egg donor, my sperm and a surrogate. It cost $4k at the repromed sperm bank for blood and sperm diagnostics as part of their designated donor program. My question is can I claim all or pet of that amount when I do my taxes? Any info about this would be greatly appreciated.

It is a medical expense, so it is my understanding that it can be claimed. (I was told that the partner with the lower income should claim the medical expenses, but double check with an accountant.)

All the best to you.

We weren't sure what all could be claimed, so we just gave everything to the accountant and let her sort it out from there.  I think almost everything we did was, except for the actual donor sperm, but that may also be because we didn't have great receipts from repromed.

C&N our accountant told us to submit all of our bills to her and she believes most of it can be claimed.  No harm in submitting them and seeing what does/doesn't get claimed.  Good luck!
