Hi Kwmg,
I find your post very interesting; I can totally see where you are coming from. Let me tell you a bit about my story so you see where my advice comes from...
I remember clearly being single around my mid-thirties and hoping to have children at some point IF I met the right person. I also remember how fertility concerns just didn't feel as "real" because I hadn't met that person yet... At least that's how it felt to me.
I could never have guessed how hard it would be for me to conceive when I did meet a wonderful man and started trying around 38. At the time, I had no idea I had a fertility issue and how real the decline in fertility is for a woman after 35...
I am now 42 and finally (!) happily pregnant. To achieve this, I went through a lot (see my signature) and had to use donor eggs. I would never have guessed that in a million years before I met my husband... But I am so grateful I get to experience this because I was really starting to believe it would never happen... And I was utterly heartbroken.
Of course, we don't know the future. Maybe you'll meet a great partner tomorrow. Maybe you are one of the lucky women who would get pregnant easily at 38 or 40... But it is pretty rare. If having children is important to you, freezing your eggs as soon as possible definitely increases your chances significantly. I find you really smart to have looked into it. I wish I had. It is expensive... But the desire for children is something so deep... I really think it's worth it.
I should also add that, of course, a number of people here have decided to have children on their own. You can find some of them on this forum. It is another option out there for you:)
Best of luck making your decision,
