Has anyone else had a low beta number and resulted in a positive pregnancy? I had my first beta yesterday and it was only 23 so very scared that it going to end in m/c.

My pregnancy which I had to terminate at 15 weeks due to a neuro-tube defect started out at 17.5. I would have had a healthy baby girl if it wasn't for the defect. HCG numbers can vary and low numbers don't mean a problem always. Sometimes high numbers also can result in a mc. Keep the faith and good luck

CARLAS, I know how stressful that can be. Unfortunately, the betas aren't a great predictor. Only 85% of normal, healthy pregnancies have betas that fall into the "normal" range and grow appropriately - meaning that 15% of healthy pregnancies start out like yours!

It is so frustrating that there's nothing to do but wait for further tests and an ultrasound. There are no guarantees, but lots of women on these boards have had low numbers that turned into healthy pregnancies - I'm one of them!
