I'm shocked by the lack of information out there about this recall - has there been any discussion of a Canadian class action lawsuit?

@cowtowngirlinthepeg I was so devastated when I received the letter ragarding the pull out of Bravelle. I think reimbursement of cost of Bravelle was not enough because of all the anxiety that I went thru during my IVF and we devoted not just time and money. IVF is not only one regimen that we need to follow, if one regimen fails and the rest will follow.Im looking also for Canadian class action lawsuit.

Some of us in Nova Scotia have contacted a firm, Wagners, that does class action suits.  They are doing there research on the topic to see about proceeding.  The more that call the better.  I just called to check on the status and she said they have been getting more calls and that is good, but think its just a handful of us here that have called so far.  If you have been affected consider calling them, certainly no obligation on your part, but it doesnt hurt.  They can represent anyone in Canada in a class action ( I just called back and asked).  If we don't get anywhere with them I am considering calling a firm called Merchant as well, they do lots of class action.

You can easily find the firm by googling Wagners Law.  It is based in Halifax.  Due to site restrictions I can't post the link.

Hi ladies,

I have now given my name to both law firms (Halifax and Klein in Vancouver). Penny from Klein said I should still ask for my refund from Ferring. I hadn't so far because of a line in the document Ferring asked me to sign (to get the refund) says: "I understand that I can not receive a refund from Ferring if I have already received a refund for the returned vials". But maybe this only discusses the Bravelle vials and nothing else?

Did any of you ask for the refund and are still contemplating the class action?

Thanks,

Make sure to watch the video.  I'm all over this.  I can't even tell you how much worry this has caused me. I did one round and only had two viable eggs. I thought that my fertile days were over and almost gave up. Now I know!  I want not just the cost of the drug, but the entire cost of the course back.

I am pretty upset upon receiving my letter. I actually had two failed IVF treatments, both with the recalled Bravelle. I can not even begin to describe how devastating that was for me and the stress it has put on my marriage. I have contacted Klein and am waiting to hear back from Penny. I too would like the full cost of the treatments (in my case over $24,000) reimbursed. The sad thing is there is really no price to be paid for the loss of potential eggs (I only produced one viable egg the first time and two the second time.) Unfortunately I am not on Facebook.

Me: 35 DH: 41

TTC since 2011 - Unexplained infertility.

2 failed IUI - natural

6 failed IUI with clomid

IVF # 1 with ICSI

June 19/14 - Start BCP Marvelon

July 4/14 - Sonohysterogram, mock embryo transfer. AFC 12. Looks good!

July 5/14 - start Lupron 20 units between 7-9pm

July 17/14 - decrease Lupron 10 units, start Bravelle 150 mg/Menopur 75 mg 7-9pm

July 21/14 - E2 - 213. 5 follies on right, 3 follies on left. Decrease Lupron 5 units, Increase Bravelle 300 mg/Menopur 150 mg

July 23/14 - E2 - 313. Stay on same dose. If no response by Friday, stop cycle.

July 25/14 - E2 - 767. Still 8 follies; 4 @10mm, 4 smaller but RE figures they'll grow. No changes to meds.

July 27/14 - E2 - 1960 - 1 @ 15mm, a couple at 12 mm. Going daily for bw/us now.

July 28/14 - E2 - 3345

I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles, Furbaby.  Just as an FYI, I talked to Penny last week and she said that due to all the notices being sent out about the recall, Klein has been flooded with calls. They already had 30 people on the class action before the recall notices, and had 100 calls left to return. She did tell me to go ahead with the official reimbursement request to the pharma company so that at least I could get that money back for now, as a class action could take years to settle.  She also advised to get a full copy of my health records from the fertility clinic as they only have to keep the records for a certain length of time and since class actions can drag on, it's best to get a hard copy for your records.  It's little consolation, I know, but at least we all have a little information now.  Hope everything goes well for you.
