Hi ladies,

Are there any successful IUIers?

Starting my 4th cycle today, and this will be my last before moving on to IVF.

I’m just curious if anyone who succeeded with IUI may have any advice: (eg. Supplements, increased rest, acupuncture?)

Thanks! JoJo

I just read that Raspberry Tea is bad to drink after you find out you are pregnant? Is this true? I have been drinking a mixture of green and raspberry tea. Should I be concerned? I heard it could cause uterine contractions.

Anyone using Fertile aid vitamins or Tea. I just ordered them and it says on the bottle of the fertile aid vitamins not to take while using clomid or other fertility medications. I was woundering if anyone knows how many days in advance should you stop the vitamins before starting on HCG injections or clomid.

Hello everybody,

I am new member and glad that I found this forum. I started my Suprefact Nasal Spray today and this is my first IVF. Kind of overwhelmed at this point, but I am sure it will get better and now that I have access to this forum, I can have support.

I read the DOs and DONT's, which is so great. I have one question though, about Red Raspberry tea, is it ok to drink this tea during down regulation ....... in other words, I mean, while I am on my Nasal Spray (started today), can I still keep drinking this tea or should be drinking only after ET is done.

Thanks a lot.

I was wondering why this we can't swim 2 week after RE?

I feel so sad now... I read the don't and it says not to do hard exercice (which I did for the first time in my life when I was pg with my last lo) and I also swam and lost it... I was afraid of gaining too much weight for my last pregnancy and so I exercises. I did the walking on the carpet with music and stuff it was a bit fast but no running and once I tried the climber stuff for 6 min but stopped. I bet I would not have lost my lo if I hadn't exercise??

Really, I think everything in moderation and, secaly, it doesn't sound like you over did it. Ask your clinic - it is likely that they will reassure you that you didn't do anything wrong. Our heads are always looking for something to blame - well I am that way after every BFN. Try the ideas here next time, but you will go crazy if you start to think in fault terms!

I read about the pineapple core on one of the threads at this website. It seems a bit contoversial because it has been mentioned that, near delivery, it is thought to bring on contractions. But from what I read, you eat it around ovulation (and ET) and it is supposed to help with implantation. I ate a piece of pineapple including the core and drank a glass of pineapple juice every day for a few days before midcycle and then about 5 days after I thought ovulation occurred. Could just be an old wives tale - but I am trying a lot of natural type stuff while on a break from IVF and like you, willing to try anything.

Hi everyone...

Is traveling by air one of the Dont's on the list? that being during the two week wait?

Does anyone know?

My clinic wouldn't do an FET just before we were flying. They said it would be bad if I had an ectopic. But not sure if it was the flight part of it or travel part. I guess it depends on length of flight? I was going overseas (from Australia to Canada) and assured them that the Canadian hospital system would be able to take care of any problem, but they didn't go for it.

Hi Linus...

I actually just asked my clinic about going away, as me and DH were thinking about going right after the transfer, and they said as long as you have 2 days rest after the transfer and then go, it would not be a problem.
Hope that answers your question...but I think every clinic may answer that differently.

Hi Linus,

I travelled from Edmonton to Portland Oregon about 2 weeks after my bfp. Everything was fine. I had to change flights each time so I was on a total of 4 planes in about 4 days. I'm still pregnant. I asked my ob/gyn and the only stipulation they had was after 33 weeks. Hope this helps.

Can I ask about this wheat germ?
What are the known benefits? I haven't ever heard of it...
I am celiac though, so I am a gluten free type of girl, and wonder if this also is another "wheat" product for those like me to avoid...
thanks for all the great information. so great you are all here for the advice!
Good luck to all!

I am taking a vitamin called "PregVit"
Doctor asked if we have a plan, it's expensive, but it's because it's more easily absorbed, and thus much more benefit if you are getting more out of it.
It's a pink one for the morning, and a blue one for night time...thus there is no conflicting of certain vitamins which cause each other to be not absorbed. If we weren't covered he told me to take a maternity vitamin recommended at the health food store, or taking the vitamins at different times of the day.
P
There is a reason for it all

Here's something you guys might not know about. Don't garden or dig in dirt without gloves on and then wash your hands as soon as you come in. There could be cat feses in the dirt that can harm an unborn baby.

RE: calcium in supplements Calcium is quite bulky as pill ingredients go so most multi-vitamins have about 1/4 of the North American RDA. It's also not a bad idea to take calcium supplements apart from the other minerals (iron, zinc, etc) as it can hinder their absorption.

I absolutely LOVE this thread.

I had NO idea about pinapple core. Is that the same as just eating the pinapple? I love pinapple-it is my favorite fruit. I havn't tried accupuncture yet as my clinic doesn't offer/suggest it.

Any thoughts on taking DHA supplements?
Successful after 3 IVF and 1 FET. (1 chemical pg)
Blessed to have a beautiful set of twins!
Our journey to complete our family is now done-we are very thankful.

I went to see an acupuncturist/nathuropathic doctor last night for the first time. I am going to have my first acupuncture treatment tonight. I mentioned that I have poor circulation and she wants to review my bloodwork to see if I could have a borderline Thyroid condition that falls within the traditional medicine "normal range" but could inidcate a slight problem. She also recommended the following:

1) HYDROTHERAPY: End shower with cold water to return blood flow to your internal organs.

2) DRY SKIN BRUSHING: Brushing the skin lightly before showering with a dry loofa to stimulate circulation.

3) CASTOR OIL PACKS: Soak a piece of flannel in castor oil so it is damp, place over abdomen, cover with plastic and add heating pad. Says it improves lymph circulation, immune funtion, reduce swelling, menstruation irregularities, fybroids and ovarian cysts. IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO DO THIS IF YOU ARE PREGNANT OR MENSTRUATING.

4) DEEP BREATHING: 100 deep breaths in unison with DH. My DH thinks I'm crazy but I am willing to try anything!

5) FEMALE SUPPLEMENTS: Folic Acid, Fish Oil with EPA/DHA=500mg, Probiotic, Red Raspberry Tea

6) MALE SUPPLEMENTS: Selenium 200mcg & Zinc 50mg
Me (Kerri-Lyn) 41, DH (Steve) 37, TTC since April 2007Unexplained IF (possibly crappy eggs, AMH 10.4 = poor responder) - HSG, SHGx3, Lap, Cycle Monitoring, Recurrent loss bloods, EMB, Karyotyping, DNA Frag - all normal! 7 IUI's, 2 cancelled IVF's, 3 complete IVF's, 1 FET, 2 clinics, 1 early miscarriage, lots of debt, lots of heartache, lots of tears. We rolled the dice and got lucky on our last ditch "close the door" cycle and have a beautiful little girl. April 2014 - Had the crazy notion to try for another. Shocked with a BFP, miscarried @ 8W6D. See my "about me" page for more cycle details.

Hi,
I'm on my 2nd IVF attempt this month and on my 5th Stimulation day. I've read somewhere that we should also put hot compress on our tummy right after injection of the stimulating drugs for it to be more effective as medication will tend to flow easily. Is this true? How about baby aspirin too? My RE advised me to take it until 3 days before ER.

Thanks.

I"ve never heard about using hot compresses after the injections, but as for the baby aspirin - My Dr. had me on it all the way up to the day of my first Beta HCG test. I was told it helps to thin the blood and increases the chances of implantation. Good luck to you! I am 39 also and now 25 wks pregnant with our first baby. IVF does work!!
