Dear All,

I am 9 weeks 4 days today. I woke up feeling completely normal, as I was before getting pregnant. I never had very strong symptoms but over the last few days they get milder and milder and completely disappeared today. I no longer feel nausea, urge to eat, tender breasts. I am not thirsty and bloated any more.

2 days ago I had an ultrasound. Doctor told me that one of the twins heart stop beating a few days ago. Doctor was expecting this as the second baby appeared at 7 weeks with a very small sac and no yolk sac. This explains the lessening of my symptoms. Bu why are they completely gone?  I am very worried for the surviving twin. At 9 weeks 2 days u/s it looked very healthy, even moving when stimulated. But I cannot forget the image of the other one, and afraid that my healthy one also stopped growing.

Is it normal for the symptoms go away at 9 weeks?

Some advice and support would be really appreciated on this.

My symptoms would come and go in my first trimester. I would have no symptoms for days which was so worrisome. Do you have access to a doppler so you can check the heartbeat? I don't mean to alarm you but i do know of a girl that lost a twin and then lost the other one as a missed miscarriage and she did observe no more symptoms, but they were identical twins . I think if you're worried book an appointment with your doctor so that they can check on things. All the best >3

mountainchick thank you for your reply. I was told that the remaining baby will not be affected as they are in separate sacs. I know it's more complicated with identical twins. My symptoms also come and go but they never stopped all together. When I did not feel m/s I would still have tender breasts. Now nothing... I do not have access to a doppler and my next u/s is at 12 weeks. I hope everything is fine eusa_pray.gif

Try not to stress too much.  I had almost no symptoms for 20 weeks or so.  Also, I would advise against getting a doppler this early.  My midwife doesn't use it at all until week 14 because it can be hard to find the heartbeat prior to that which will cause more stress.

Best of luck to you!

9ay, I was pregnant with triplets, and there were many weeks where I felt little to no symptoms.  I'd go around poking my chest in a panicky way (I thought I was being discreet, but alas, it was rather obvious) and feel no tenderness.  I had zero morning sickness, no food aversions... I was stunned when they found Baby C at the 10w u/s, because I was convinced they would find nothing at all, due to my lack of consistent - or any - symptoms.  I spent the first 18w of my pregnancy in a state of serious anxiety over this.

Those worries are totally normal when we work so hard to get pregnant in the first place, and many of us suffer losses along the way.  My OBGYN used to tell me to only worry about the things I could control, and although that was supremely difficult, and I would be lying to say that I managed that all the time, I did find that I had to let go of some of these anxieties in order to function.

Hang in there.  Don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about how you feel.

Amp is right.. It's probably a little too early for a doppler although I was able to find a heartbeat consistently at 10 weeks. My symptoms would disappear completely for days at a time and that is normal.

I had the same fear as I lost the majority of my nausea and all breast tenderness mid 9 weeks. All is still well, but I was terrified of a missed miscarriage when I went in for my 9 week scan. Unfortunately, no one can guarantee a positive outcome, but for the vast majority of women, those horrible early pregnancy symptoms do start to fade at some point in the first or early second trimester. Thankfully most women don't suffer their entire pregnancies :).

I agree with others in strongly discouraging a Doppler. Not many women can easily find the fhr at 10wks. Remember that the uterus does not rise above the pubic bone in most singleton pregnancies before 12 weeks, thus making it difficult (if not impossible) to hear the fhr. Yes, some women will be able to as we all have slightly different proportions and anatomy, but it's not the norm and may cause major anxiety.

As hard as it was, I had to reason with myself that nothing would change the outcome no matter how much my heart wanted it so waited impatiently for that Doppler reassurance with my midwife at 12wks.

Hang in there. The fear is normal.....but most likely the lessening of symptoms is just nature doing what it's supposed to...giving you some relief. And as a final caution, you may still have days where those symptoms suddenly come back then disappear again. It's a fun ride ;-).

Me -29 31 - unexplained poor egg quality.  I was told I had endometriomas.....but repeat ultrasounds at other clinics have said no sign of endometriomas. Maybe PCOS-like ovaries, but no PCOS - AMH, AFC are great. No one can explain why my eggs are so poor sad.png

DH 30 - severe teratospermia, count and motility are excellent.

May 2014 - 2.5mg femara - BFN (ovulated night before)

June 2014 - IUI with 5mg femara - BFN (ovulated night before)

August 2014 -  IVF with ICSI - Antagonist protocol, 150Bravelle, 75 menopur, stimmed 8 days

                      - 19 follicles (all 15-22mm at trigger), 12 eggs retrieved, 7 mature,, 5 fertilized with ICSI sad.png

                      - only 7 mature eggs with an estrogen of 20000?! wtf?! Sigh...Freeze All

-only one BB Blast made it. Freeze "all" became "freeze one".  All others arrested between day 3 and 4 sad.png

As for the Doppler.....a medical student tried to find my baby's heartbeat when I went in for my first appointment, just before 12 weeks and could not find it. I was completely distraught! The doctor came in and chastised the student. He said he does even try with the Doppler before 14 weeks as it is not reliable. The doctor saw how scared I was and brought in the portable ultrasound machine and showed me my baby was fine.

Don't attempt the Doppler yet...you'll just scare yourself even more!

Agree with Frannie, I bought a doppler when I was pregnant with DD#1 and was able to detect from about 14 weeks or so.  I tried using it with DD#2 at about 9 weeks thinking that I had experience and it shouldn't be hard, but couldn't find it until about 13 weeks.  It was extremely frustrating when I couldn't find the heartbeat and made me more worried than necessary.  That being said though, I'm about 25 weeks and when I don't really feel much movement for a few days, I'll pull out the doppler to ease my fears.  It's super easy to find the heartbeat once you're into the second trimester, and I use it maybe once or twice a month, if even that often.

I've just entered my 9th week and find some comfort reading this old post. My feeling of fullness kind of disappeared last week, though I'm still having food aversion. That may even be weakening but it's harder to tell as I am taking diclectin. It is so hard not to be worried. I know in the end I have no effect on the outcome, but it is great to know that others had the same worries and for the most part the pregnancies were still okay. Four more weeks to the next ultrasound...it is so hard in this age of too much information when we expect to know immediately.

Returnable I felt the same way around 9 weeks.

I was worried when my boobs didn't hurt, or anything little thing that changed.  Then at 11/12 weeks when my fatigue went away I had next to no symptoms and felt nothing right through 15 weeks.  I was so worried going into my 16 week scan...I held my breath until they told me they saw a heartbeat.

I think those were the worse weeks for me for sure.  Now at 23 weeks I am feeling regular movement and that is the only thing that is keeping me calm because I have no other noticeable symptoms other than aches and pains....and having to get up to pee in the night.  But I have gotten so used to some of those symptoms that I almost don't notice them anymore.

I also had food aversions from 8 weeks until maybe last week...I am still not sure they have gone away completely.  Smells are very bad too.

Best of luck!!  Hang in there it is so tough.  I find it hard to get too exciting because I am so afraid of something going wrong.  I am hoping that soon I will be able to relax and get more confidence in this pregnancy to fully enjoy it.

Balance thanks for the further assurances. BTW I was inspired by your Lilypie to put in mine. I just want to be able to celebrate this pregnancy because it's been such a long road to get here.

Love your Lilypie!!

I do feel there is a bit more work to get excited and to be able to celebrate after our journeys.

I was most excited at the very beginning because I had actually gotten pregnant for the first time.  After a while when I didn't have any symptoms and it felt like nothing was happening is when my excitement started to wane.  That was about the same time a few of my friends started getting excited and congratulating me more for passing the 1st trimester.  They didn't understand that at that point I was more nervous.  My initial excitement was gone and I was now in the unknown territory with an unknown as to what was going on in my body.

I am still having a hard time getting excited again.  But I am a little more calm.  I am not sure how my emotions will go throughout the rest of my pregnancy but I hope I can get excited again soon.  Setting up the nursery now is starting to help a little but nothing compared to my initial excitement when I finally got a positive result.

Returnable have you noticed that the "days to go" on our Lilypie are exactly 100 days apart!  :)

Yes I did notice the 100 day thing :)

I keep telling myself that everything is okay and everything I feel or don't feel is a part of the normal process. It is difficult at times.

I hope your excitement picks up as you get closer.
