TTC since Dec. 09
Me (35) him (30)
Unexplained infertility but have only one ovary (lost right to dermoid cyst in Nov. 07) and he has low morphology (5%)

July 10 - Consultation at OFC
All test results normal (did not do Kruger test or AMH test) and was told to try for another 6 months
FSH around 6, antral foli count 9 (on the left)

Dec 10 - Asked to be transferred to MTL (OVO) from OFC
April 11 - Saw Dr. Jamal, antral folli count 8 (on the left) and AMH test show low ovarain reserve (due to a single ovary). Given Clomid for two cycles, had bad reaction (very cranky) and BFN. Dr. Jamal suggested Natural IVF without stimulation. Hated OVO dearly (long wait time, extreme lack of organization, nurses, etc). Googled and found MFC. Consultation booked in Sept. 11

Sept. 11 - Saw Dr. Sophia at MFC. She suggests a standard IVF.
Sept. 11 - Learned that private insurance thru work have coverage up to 20K for IVF (Thank goodness!)
Decided to go for 1st trial at OFC given proximity.

IVF #1 (Oct 11) at OFC (Dr. Haebe) - Puregon 400 IU for 9 days. 9 leading follicles (and 8 smaller ones), which resulted in 5 eggs (but one degenerated). Only 2 fertilized thru ICSI (embryo quality second best and average). Day 3 transfer of 2 embryos, which resulted in BFN

IVF #2 (Nov 11) at MFC - Puregon 300 IU and Menopure 75 IU for 10 days. 8 leading follicles (and some smaller ones). egg collection Nov. 16/11. 7 eggs collected out of 8 follies. 6 are mature and ALL SIX FERTILIZED!!! 5 day transfer of 1 blast Nov. 21/11. Beta scheduled Dec. 2nd 1st Beta 10dp5dt 287. 2nd beta scheduled Dec. 5th 2nd Beta 14dp5dt 1,524

1st U/S Dec. 19th (6wks & 6 days): heartbeat measured at 137bpm, baby measuring 7.2mm, cervix measured at 32.9mm

Stimulated for 8 days trigger April 8. ER April 10. Out of 8 follicles, 6 eggs retrieved. Only 1 egg was mature & fertilized. Clinic recommends Day 2 transfer. We declined Day 2 transfer given this may be a complete waste.

Dr.M. understood our concern & agreed. Booked for a Day 5 transfer (but will be a miracle if this one embryo makes it to Day 5). Dr. M. advised that the embryo on Day 2 is 4 cell grade 1. So there is little hope.

Ok no call until Tuesday, which means we are going in for a transfer on Day 5. ET on April 15. Transferred an excellent quality blastocyst. Now 2WW. Blood test April 28. BFN

Thanks everyone, for warm welcomes!

Welcome ewok! PM me if you ever want to chat about the post-beta waiting.  I'm never sure if I'm happier with a BFN or  BFP, the BFP starts an terrible anxiety cycle...

Melissabonbon, I am already starting to feel the afternoon exhaustion.  I remember by week six of a past pregnancy I actually had to fight the urge to lie down on the ground and sleep at times.  ugh.  Hang in there!!

Yep Anaïs, I got a BFP Monday, and the line gets darker every day.  Hope this one's sticky!!

UGH the name debate.  DP is a big fan of obscure, Lord-of-the-Rings-sounding boys names.  So I am hellbend on having a girl - if I could only control that!

I found acupuncture helped a lot with my morning sickness and gave me some temporary energy boost if anybody is up for it.

In terms of fatigue, no suggestion there. I myself thought aoubt lying down under my desk at times :)

Hundred: when is your beta? cannot wait for your bw!

Anxiously waiting for US next Tuesday. It feels like light years away.

I am also doomed on the names. We can never agree on things....He also likes that stuff, Lord of the rings, Harry Potter....boy stuff....ARGHHHH

Welcome Ewok - here's to your little embie staying nice and sticky and safe and sound this time around!

Anais - I did acupuncture pre-transfer so maybe I should go back - good suggestion - it might help with fatigue. I've been a little resistant because it hurts a little and I'm a little needled out from the whole IVF experience but I think the benefits may outweigh in this case.

I hear you guys on the boys' names issue. Why are there so few to begin with and why are there so few that aren't crap?! My DH and I can't agree on any...he is a Brit so all the British names are out because they've all been ruined by someone he's known and the same goes for me with the North American names!

Well today my goal is to try to remember and enjoy the fact that I'm pregnant a bit more. I can feel the anxieties creeping in and I want to balance them out with some good stuff. Funny how I get anxious if I have too many symptoms, like I've been quite crampy, and then I get anxious when my symptoms like the cramps go away! I feel like I keep climbing this ivf mountain - and the climb is stressful - and when I finally successfully get to what I think is the top, I look around the corner and realize there's another summit to climb. I don't have time to enjoy the last success before the new fears about getting to the next peak set in. And when I reach that point, I realize I am not at the top again and so on and so on... Now it's getting to that first ultrasound in two weeks! Then it'll be getting to 12 weeks...

Wishing everyone a great day! Raising my glass to being pregnant, with all the highs and the lows :)

Anais - I feel silly but what is an NT scan stand for. I know my sisters went for a 12 wk scan but it's all so new to me I'm not sure what is involved in each one - hence why I want a doctor! I know my 7 wk is to check for heart beat/ viability and that I will go back for 12 wk scan but not sure what's really involved.

Names - we have had a boy and a girl name picked out for five years. However, I feel like rethinking them as I was attributing those names to the baby I carried before mc. I think I still like the names - we shall see.

Melissabonbon- I hear you. You think ugh symptoms and the moment ur not cramping or peeing twice an hour you think oh no! I'm trying to remind myself to enjoy some of it. I think we are guarding ourselves.

Canucks - welcome!! Congrats on your bfp!!

Hopingforbaby - welcome!! Congrats on the surprise natural pregnancy! I think your experience of having one already can def help us! I got my bfp while on suprefact, before my FET. Was a huge surprise. I actually cried when I found out bc I was so worried about the harm i had done w taking the suprefact. Only time will tell. I hope it becomes a healthy baby!

Also; is anyone else having any food aversions? I Get really hungry but the thought of pretty much everything makes me feel like getting sick. I am making myself eat as I need to. But am I just weird or does anyone else have anything similar?

Congratulations everyone! I'm hoping it's ok to join in. July 3rd is our expected due date. ☺️

I just got confirmation today that our lil one is in utero & things look positive (this after 2 ectopics & numerous early miscarriages). It's still early but so far so good. We've never made it this far without complications so I'm a ball of nervous but excited energy.

No food aversions for me yet. I am actually a little worried that I am eating too much already lol. Had a super long nap today . . . so sleepy but constantly interrupting night time sleeping with a need to pee. I don't know how I am going to keep on top of work with this crazy fatigue.

Anais - the wait for the ultrasound is *almost* as agonizing as the TWW. I still have over two weeks to go that feel like an eternity.

Although i am holding out on buying any baby things until 2nd trimester, I am already scanning our home to assess the changes we will need to make to accommodate the little bub. DH saw me looking into a room today, and knew exactly what I was up to. LOL.

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies!  I really hope this time, but will be very nervous until my 7 week scan.

jlynn, do you have a cause for for multiple miscarriages and ectopics?  I'm curious, our stories sound similar, not something I've seen often.

We're not talking about names yet, way too early...   And some many of the names I liked were picked by close friends & family over the last 8 years, that I think it may be hard.  Another negative side of infertility I guess.  I would also love a name that can be easily pronounced in both languages, so that does complexity things even more.

I'm protecting myself a lot, but once I a while I steal a look at the baby room stuff on Ikea!

And I booked my pregnancy appointment Monday morning already.  Here you don't need a referral to book these with most doctors.  You just have to call in very early in the pregnancy if you want to have some choice.  Otherwise you take whatever is left, or the hospital coordinators find you someone.  I live about 2km from an hospital, but did NOT want to deliver there (I hate 2 of the ObGyn that work there, and would not want them doing let's say a C-section should I need it), so I called early to find a doctor working at another hospital (30 minutes from home).  This is a very new hospital with all private rooms where you give birth and stay the whole time.  Very popular, and with the 10-12 weeks window for the first appointment falling over Christmas, I'm lucky I found someone!

Meliss: NT stands for nuchal translucency. It is to measure the fluid behind the fetus' neck to look for abnormalities. Here is the link.

http://www.babycente...y-nt-ultrasound

You have to go during a very specific time of your first trimester (around 12 weeks) so that is why I suggested booking it as early as possible so you can make sure. My family doctor (who I do not think competent but still went to a medical school I think) told me to go right in the middle of the allowed time period. I am booked on December 19th (my due date July 4th).

August 12, 2012: A beautiful baby girl born at 11:21 pm measuring 8 lbs 3 ounces/53 cm long

Trying for Number 2

October 7, 2013 - CD1

October 9, 2013 - First consultation

Start stimulation Friday October 11 (Puregon 300 & Menopur 75) for 10 days

Last us on October 21, 2013 7 leading follicles - Trigger shot tonight (Ovidral)

Retrieval October 23, 2013 - 6 eggs retrieved

Ferti report October 24, 2013 - 4 mature eggs and only 2 fertilized

At this point, I am losing hope.

Oct 25, 2013 - Surprisingly Dr. M. wants us in for 5 day transfer

ET October 28, 2013: one young blastocyst to transfer

2WW

8dp5dt HPT Positive yahoo.gif

Some spotting on 9dp5dt and 10dp5dt huh.png

Beta scheduled November 8,2013

1st beta 11dp5dt 106

2nd beta 14dp5dt 525.6

Viability scan scheduled Nov. 21, 2013

Viability scan shows fetus behind schedule by a couple of days

Repeat U/S

Discovered on Dec 10/2013 that fetus stopped growing at 7wk4days (Missed miscarriage)

2.2.

CD1 March 29. First consult on March 31. Same protocol.

BFN

2.3.

CD1 August 18. First consult on August 19. Spoke with Dr. M about two wishes - minimum 10 day stimulation & 5 day transfer. Stimulated for 11 days. ER September 4. Out of 9 follicles, 6 eggs, 4 mature and all fertilized. Dr. M called and suggest double Day 3 transfer. However, DH veto a double transfer. Sticking to Day 5 transfer. ET September 9. Suprisingly out of 4 embryos on Day 3, 3 made to blastocysts. Transfer 1 Day 5 blastocyst. Shocking call the next day saying two left over embryos were good enough for freezing. 2ww Turned out to be a chemical pregnancy

2.3.1.

FET CD1 Sept 27 First consultation Sept 30 Oct 16 Transferred two blastocysts 2ww

Started nausea 3dp5dt it can`t be this early POAS 5dp5dt readable BFP! Wow

7dp5dt POAS show dark test line (never had such a strong positive)

Worried about risk of multiples

11dp5dt 1st beta at 382.8 13dp5dt 2nd beta at 850

Viability scan booked Nov 11th (6wk 4days)

Viability scan at 6w and 8w are both fine. Now graduated to OB.

NT scan in December 2015: all is good

Anotomy scan in Feb. 2015

Welcome all the new ladies via IVF or non-IVF the more the merrier!

This thread is becoming a full house.

Yes the other 2ww for viability scan is as agonizing as the first 2ww. I would say more agonizing because for the first 2ww, at least you can POAS. I don't own an ultrasound machine (I actually do have the muscle kind but not for gynacological use).

I definitely feel more hungry and do have cravings. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was living on Vietnamese food.

Now I crave meat. This evening, I badly wanted chicken wings so I had some. I don't eat that stuff often but was weird to feel that kind of urge.

Hope everyone is doing great. I don't know how long I can keep this as secret at work because I cannot hold my tummy any more in the afternoon. It takes efforts to hold it. Oh well we will see how long I can keep it under.

Nice evening everyone!

Jlynn, so sorry to hear about your rough experience with you past pregnancies. I hope this is a super sticky one for you :)

I developed a little jelly belly just through the ivf process - hormones, bloating, comfort eating, not exercising. People at work certainly noticed my weight gain so I do hope my little bub just hides in my jelly belly and people will be none the wiser until I'm ready to share.

Welcome Canuck, hopingforbaby and jlynn...congrats on your pregnancies!

Re. Names - All of my twenty-something cousins keep popping out kids, and have taken all the good family ones :-(

Melissabonbon, I appreciate the mountain metaphor.  I'm holding out for the beta summit, but I know there's the viability scan after that, and then the 8 week mark (I've never made it past that week), and then the NT scan and second trimester, and then... ?? Just trying to breathe and look at the steps right in front of me.

Anais, my clinic does FET betas super late and I'm scheduled Monday (4 days after AF is due?).  But I think I will lose my mind before then.  I'll probably try and sneak in on Saturday.  I hear you re Vietnamese food, pho is the first and only thing I've been craving.

TTC since February 2013

5 unsuccessful DIs (3 unmedicated and 2 with injectables), February 2013-September 2013
DI 6, unmedicated w trigger, October 2013 - "last ditch effort" before IVF - BFP!!
Due June 28, 2014 - our pride baby!  HB on 6 & 7 week U/S.
10 wk scan showed missed MC just after second U/S. Beyond devastated.

DX, December 2013 -  DOR, homozygous MTHFR mutation, and karyotype translocation.
Moving on to reciprocal IVF, my uterus & DP's eggs.

IVF #1, May 2014 - 12 retrieved, eleven fertilized, 4 blasts!  Way to go DP!!
May 11 - transferred 5 day blast
May 16 - poas - very faint BFP!!
May 23-June 1- beta limbo. Levels not doubling.
June 2 - U/S - sac, pole, but no HB visible
June 6 - MC. So sad, but less shocked this time.
mid July - betas still up, rpoc and polyp on US
Successful polypectomy September 17

FET #1Oct 29, 2014 - transferred one beautiful hatching 5 day blast
6dp5dt: th_abfp.gif!!!!!  Beta 189 at 10dp5dt, 433 at 12dp5dt.
Nov 24 - 6w3d - Tiny fluttering heartbeat on U/S!  121bpm, measuring right on track.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Ewok: there is no rhyme or reason to our issues. The doc found that I have a clotting disorder but didn't think this would cause the issues we've had. It's been a complete mystery really. My first ectopic was misdiagnosed & almost killed me at 10 weeks in...I was actually told I wasn't pregnant at all & suggested I was having a hysterical pregnancy. I had HSG 3 times and tubes have always been clear...yet I had another ectopic ???
As for miscarriages, thats another mystery.

Canuck: the lack of symptoms is actually what tipped me off that this time was different! I have some minor symptoms now but nothing that I couldn't ignore...with the exception of being tired.

Many of you were talking about cravings - I'm a complete bad cliche because I can't get enough pickles ☺️

I had a super nightmare last night. In my dream, dr.O. who I saw less frequently (I mostly saw Dr. M who is her husband) put a plastic bag over her hand (like how rural vets do when they check cows female organs) and sort of did an us.

She said left sac was a boy and the right sac was a girl and they are both empty. I got up super scared and anxious.

Obviously the dream is just a dream but OMG cannot wait for the viability scan.

August 12, 2012: A beautiful baby girl born at 11:21 pm measuring 8 lbs 3 ounces/53 cm long

Trying for Number 2

Start stimulation Friday October 11 (Puregon 300 & Menopur 75) for 10 days

2.2.

CD1 March 29. First consult on March 31. Same protocol.

BFN

Canuckschick, I didn't have any symptoms with DS other than being a bit tired.  Once I had my viability u/s I was able to relax a bit.

Anais, I totally agree with you on the wait for the viability scan being much more agonizing than the 2WW for beta's.  Your mind can definitely play tricks with you.

I am hoping my dr will give me a requisition for a viability u/s at my appt today, I don't think I can wait until 12 weeks.  No cravings for me as of yet.
