Off to get the bloodtest... fingers crossed for my couple and this cycle!

Is everyone else having their estradiol levels checked? This is the first clinic I've ever been with that does this check.

Sounds like you are doing a very special thing Sally! The needles are starting to bruise me as well. Not too bad though.

I have been on Lupron for awhile now. Last night I got my first terrible headache (they say it's a side effect). It was a bad one! Soon I start on the gonal f.... So the headaches will disappear. I still have a mild one today.... Anyone else experience this?

I am so tired today. I can't wait till the work day ends so I can go home and hang out on my couch! Some days seem so long!

Fingers crossed, my retrieval will be not this weekend but next..... !!! Weird thing to say... BUT i can hardly wait. :D

Buffy, I know what you mean about being excited for the retrieval. It is just so close to becoming pregnant that even though it hurts, it is something to look forward to.

I am on Suprefact nasal spray and it gives me a headache and night hot flashes; but I know it is temporary so I am not even worried about it. Good luck with the gonal-f.

Sally, good luck with your tests. My clinic does the bloodwork and ultrasounds every second day leading up to a retrieval.

Buffy, I had headaches the first week on the Suprefact, always around 11am-2pm they would hit! With the Lupron injections I had headaches and hot flashes for the entire time I was on the medication.

My estradiol came back at 260 so it was still too high. The RE said the suprefact didn't work for me and I obviously have some follicles or a cyst. So I got my period yesterday and started the ortho-tricyclen which I will stay on for the month and then we are trying again for the cycle after that! So we've been bumped to the January cycle :) Goodluck everyone!!!!!

Hello,

I was looking for cycle buddies so I hope noone minds if I join in. I started nasal spray on Nov17 and have baseline u/s on 30th and start injections the same day. I'm feeling overwhelmed and nervous about taking the injections and the retrieval. Too many bad medical experiences have turned me into a bit of a baby.

This is a kind of stupid question but I've read on the other boards about beta tests for pregnancy. What level are you looking for if your pg?

Thanks for listening,
Lisa

Hi Lisa, Welcome to the site. Beta numbers are a result of a bloodtest. It measures the level of the pregnancy hormone in your body. The numbers are a range; but from what I understand, they should be doubling every day or two if there is a viable pregnancy. I hope I explained that right. A lot of clinics don't even test the beta numbers, they just send you for a urine test to see if you are pregnant. IVF is a pretty scary journey; but it is not so bad and the end result is so worth it. Good luck to you.

How is everyone else doing?

Hello,

Sarah and Jenni thank you for the welcome and kind words.

It's nice to see our cycle dates are pretty close. I started my suprefact on Nov 17. My ER/ET should be about Dec 12/15. I was wondering if either of you has had any bad side effects from the suprefact spray?

I wasn't able to do much of anything yesterday my period started and I felt extremely dizzy and sick all day? Not a normal symptom of my period, pain "yes" not dizziness.

Woke up today and it was mostly gone thank goodness.

It's making me even more anxious about the shots starting on Thursday.

Hope everything is going well for you all!

Hi Lisa: I am on the suprefact injections and other than tiredness, I am having a small reaction around the injection site (it gets really itchy and I get a bunch of bumps). Don't worry about starting your injections - it will be ok. One step closer!!

Heidi: How's it going?

Tomorrow I go for my suppression check and if everything looks good, I begin Menopur in the afternoon. I am really nervous. Not so much for tomorrows test, but for my day 5 ultrasound next Monday. My day 5 U/S in my cancelled cycle my rt ovary had only recruited 6 follicles and my left 0. I just want to get past the point where my cycle got cancelled last time. If I could wish away time, I would bypass this entire week . I am frustrated, anxious and nervous. Last time I was really excited to be at this point in the cycle. I wish I could get that back :) .

Hope it's going well for everyone!

Hi everyone, haven't posted in a long while. I had a cancelled cycle this past spring that was gruelling, 23 days....so we waited for a bit and are back into the stims. I just started puregon yesterday with 200 units as I failed to respond last time. Lisa, the needles aren't so bad, you actually get used to it! I hope this cycle goes better than the last.
We were fortunate to have a successful cycle in Nov. 2003 that resulted in my perfect little man arriving the following summer. He is now 2.5 years old, so the cycle that failed to get to retrieval was devastating for us. Glad to have some "buddies" to keep me company, hope everyone is well.

Hi all. This is Sarah, seems to be a few Sarah's! I am cycling in Burlington, Ontario, but will have my procedure at ISIS in Mississauga, Ontario. I am fortunate as my doctor's office is just down the raod from work and he does all the ultrasounds there. HOwever, I do have to drive into the Mississauga clinic (45 minute drive) for bloodwork. Anyone else cycling nearby??
I'm pretty excited this time, I just have a good feeling about it. Maybe it's the time of the year!

Hi everyone!

Sarah: I am cycling at McMaster. I only have to travel about 2km to the clinic (thank goodness!). I too had a failed cycle (Oct/06) that failed to get to retrieval. It was so frustrating - I hope it doesn't happen again!!

Well, I had my supression check yesterday and I started the stims last night. I hope the next few days fly by - my next appt is on Monday.

Hello ALL! This thread is hot! LOL. My headaches basically went away when i started gonal f. thank goodness! The nurse said they probably would disappear at that point.... I have been doing gonal for a bit now. My retrieval was suppose to be this sunday.... But now it looks like it will be sometime in the next week. More waiting! They added in repronex shots to keep the blood work jumping in numbers.... It seemed to do the trick (thank goodness, i was REALLY starting to worry that my numbers were not climbing!!! That is so stressful!).

This been a long road for me and DH. I hope this works! I am so worried that I won't make it to retrieval..... But hopefully it is just being paranoid.... My DH has been through so much this year, it would be nice to end the year on a wonderful note....

It is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and yet be so stressed that something will go wrong before the transfer! I know I am being WAY too paranoid right now. It feels good to write it though and get it off my chest.

But let's all be positive... Sounds like we all have lots of hope. AND 'tis the season right? :D

Hello :flowers:

Jenni: Thanks for the support.

Heidi: How are you? You must be getting really close to your retrieval!

Buffy: I'm happy to hear it's going well for you and your headaches have gone away ! Only a few more days to your retrieval! Did they give you a count of the # of follicles and size? I keep a journal of everything they tell me at my appointments (and I read my chart :) ). I has been really useful - I can easily compare this cycle to last cycle .
Last cycle, my follicles were between 13 to 17mm after only 5 days of stimulation. I kind of hope for a similar situation this time - less days on stims the less $ spent !!!

I am keeping my fingers, toes and everything else crossed that this cycle is successful for everyone!

Hi ladies,
that's funny you are cycling at McMaster Sarah, we must live nearby. As my screen name suggests, I live in Grimsby, but work in Burlington. I went to McMaster U!
Not sure when my retrieval will be, but I would think somewhere between dec. 11-15th? Although, last time I cycled forever...my stomach looked a pin cushion!
I have to see my doc tomorrow for US, and I would think likely the bloodwork will begin shortly thereafter.
talk to all later,
Sarah
