So this is my first IVF cycle, and I am still trying to learn the protocol and lingo of this all. I have been on superfact for the last couple of weeks, and I am going in this week for my first u/s and b/w. I think I remember when I picked up my meds, the pharmacy said to bring all my meds back for that appt because afterwards they will be showing everyone how to I guess do the injections. My question is do I have to bring all the meds there, the gonal f has to stay in the fridge doesn't it?

dont bring the gonal f
they have a sample pen there and they will use that to show you how it works. Just bring a list of everything you are taking and the volumes (just that Yellow paper would be fine). They have everything in demo versions.
good luck!

All the best, ladies.

The teaching sessions are used to orient you with the injection process. The (teaching) nurses generally use empty needles and fill them with water to teach you with. They will also use it as an opportunity to go over the clinic's cycle-monitoring process. (This is based on my experiences at other clinics. I have not cycled at your clinic.)

If your DH/DP is helping with the injections, he will find the information-session helpful. But don't fret if he is unable to attend. The drug companies ususally have helpful videos and same with Youtube.

All the best to you!

Travelingsands, I am going in on Wednesday. They said to be there around 7:30, but I may try to be there a bit earlier. I find asking my questions on here i get a better more straight forward answer then if I call the clinic, plus I get a answer a lot sooner!

DH won't be coming, he actually leaves that morning to get back to work for 10 days. As long as everything goes as planned when he gets home, the next day they are hoping to do the ER

I'm going to be there at the same time!! I guess we'll see each other there :)

My estimated ER is Feb 25. This is my first IVF so I have no idea how well I'll respond to the stims.

Fingers crossed for both of us - we'll have to compare notes after our appointments!

Don't worry too much about the refrigeration and the gonal f - the refrigeration extends its shelf life many months, even years, but it can be room temperature for quite some time.  You don't need to bring it - and I wanted to just second what gibasgirl wrote - there are great youtube videos by the drug companies on how to inject - I just watched the one on follistim there.  I never actually got instructions at my doctors office - I'm sure they meant to tell me but it slipped through the cracks and with youtube, you can go back and look again and again - it's great!

Good luck!

I think my estimated ER is on Feb 25th as well, like you said though depending on how we respond to stims.

Hopefully we both have some exciting news around the same time :)

Just a tip for the injections ladies.........I really found that if you use ice to freeze the area, its SOOOOO much better. You honestly cant feel it and it helps with the swelling and bruising. Good luck ladies!

Another tip for the ER - I asked for more drugs when they were doing it, which was a bad idea because I'm quite sensitive to medication. I ended up getting sick when I got up from the procedure. Threw up a few times. They said it was from getting more pain meds. I would personally recommend just pushing through it, and not asking for more if you dont have to. Its really not that bad at all, and it lasts for like 10-15 min!

Clomid - 6 months (not sucessful)

Thyroid Issues (me) - Started Snythyroid May 2012

Doctor advised that IVF (ICIS) would be the best choice for us

Middle of Sept 2013 - Accepted Treatment

Sept 18, 2013 - Started Suprefact

Oct 2, 2013 - Hopefully starting my Injections
