We had a horrible experience with IREGA clinic in Mexico. IREGA staff and the IVF doctor were very nice and friendly at the beginning, offering us an IVF treatment package and medications at very affordable prices. We used an IREGA egg donor, after the doctor and owner of this clinic, sent us a few pictures of several women who currently work at the IREGA clinic as secretaries or nurses. He charges us USD2000 for 5 eggs plus medications. After we payed for the IVF treatment and eggs, and we started with the medications we bought ourselves, they told us many lies about new additional costs for medications that were not included in the initial package. We felt very confused and we did not get clear explanations to our questions. The doctor and the staff barely speak english. At the end, they squeezed us until we gave them all the money we had because we were very hopeful they could help us after all their lies and tricks. Mexico is a very scary country, full of drugs and violence. The U.S. Department of State is giving travel warnings to prevent people going there (.."The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens about the risk of traveling to certain places in Mexico due to threats to safety and security posed by organized criminal groups in the country"..from the U.S. State Dept. website).

I went to irega in cancun and didn't have a experience like this! Mine was amazing! I have a son from my first cycle there and as of this week I donated my left over embryos and she loved her experience with irega! My sister went last year to cancun and she got pregnant first try to! We did however use Sheri Burke to facilitate everything! So my trip was great! Sorry u had such a bad experience! I don't recommend going out of the country with out a facilitator!

I just came back from Irega, Acapulco.
I don't know why we had to go through Sheri Burke. We paid a clinic deposit of $2400 CAD but at the clinic they asked me what I paid to Sheri and it turns out the only money the clinic itself got was the subsequent $4,500 CAD.
Sheri made an appointment and half the time I was in direct contact with Dr Adan Oliveros or his english speaking director Rolando. I do not know how Sheri can justify this $2,400 cad markup in price (in the guise of "clinic deposit") to pay herself for connecting me to the doctor by email.
With Rolando's level of English going direct would have been the same and was what I wanted. However we had trouble emailing the clinic direct.
Sheri's husband Erick made me a booking at a hotel near the clinic where the windows wouldn't close. So I spent my first night in fear and then moved myself to a safer family type hotel (Hotel Mision, Felipe valle 12, Acapulco) at 200 pesos a night.
It seems that some comments I have seen on this thread mention the raising of Irega prices. With International Patient Facilitators skimming over a third of the money for setting up initial contact, is it a wonder?

Once we had paid we realized that we had been ripped off but were scared to lose our "deposit" by backing out.We felt we had made a mistake getting duped into thinking we had to deal with Sheri but we thought it might be a $1000 cad loss....not a $2400cad loss to this woman and her husband in Canada.

Initially Sheri Burke acted nice and was helpful until I was actually in Mexico and had fully paid over the other money at the clinic (same with the clinic).
Then she dropped me like a hot rock. I had questions about an error Dr Adan said he had made. I had concerns and asked for help from Sheri, a Spanish speaker, to tell me how to ask in Spanish for my hotel to help me get outside food to my room after my transfer. She blew me off and didn't help me. Every time I asked her a question she would text "I don't know" or "I'm in a meeting" and I had to tell her that I knew she didn't know which was why I needed her to get Dr Adan or his translator /director to respond to my email.
My concerns were met with "I just know you are pregnant" and on day of transfer , when a surprise additional embro turned up, " you now have your 5 babies".

Basically no helpful support or practical support or assistance after they got my money. Plus it took 2 weeks for Sheri Burke to get back to me regarding my concerns over the doctor getting pill numbers wrong to make my 600mg progesterone dose.(which ended up meaning my protocol progesterone was reduced by 300mg) And her response was that "the doctor changes doses " even though I have 2 prescriptions for the March 27 to May 27 period showing same doses and wrong pill numbers.

The clinic itself is clean and ok though I was surprised the doctor offered me a beer on the first day of my progesterone protocol.

Things to be improved about Irega, Acapulco

1) Post FET sheets in English would be nice
2) Not making people stay 6 hours without food
3) Not making people pay for water after spending so much money
4) Not looking over patient shoulder while patient is doing internet banking
5) Double checking dosages and instructions for protocols so they make less, potentially devastating, errors in protocol.
6) Don't ignore patients when doc gets something wrong medically. They need to take responsibility and work with patients when they make errors.
7) They need to tell clinic support staff not to share information with other patients about each other and need not to let Dr Adan's nurse to get other patients to translate medical instructions when Rolando the director is at hand.
8)They should not let support staff make "Who's the Daddy?"jokes and jokes about the director being the sperm donor to female patients.
Getting donors is hurtful enough without the pool guy making jokes and asking who are the "parents" of your child.
9) I wrote emails with medical questions to Dr Adan who told me to contact him with any questions. In two weeks he has replied to nothing. His director, Rolando, who was sitting with me and Dr Adan when Dr Adan admitted the protocol error denied there had been an error and told me to "stay safe" in Acapulco and hoped I was having a "lovely time" in Mexico.
Any medical question ( and there have been about 2-3 questions maximum) was met with responses telling me to have a lovely time in Mexico and no answers.

Despite all this fiasco (and I do have a sense of humour over the ridiculousness of the Irega experience) I am pregnant.
So even the error over the progesterone didn't quite stop my chances.

My biggest concern is that Dr Adan is very sloppy and forgetful over protocol prescriptions and many errors were noticed and corrected in the 2 months leading up to FET. So check your prescriptions and double check them again!
I don't like it that after admitting his error there was sudden denial or that once my money payment was processed I did not get the support or information I had been promised.

If you have a very thick skin, a smattering of Spanish, a big sense of humour and a mountain of patience and forgiveness in you then go to Irega, Acapulco. Just watch the prescriptions and make Dr Adan check and double check your protocol. Deal direct with Rolando not Sheri ( as she will not give you practical support beyond cheerleading you and that's not worth a loss of $2,400 when she'd just put you in touch direct with Rolando and the doc anyway and they do all the work).
Please feel free to message me wit

P.S. Prior to leaving for Mexico I felt positive about Sheri Burke, despite thinking at the time she had paid herself $1000 not $2400 of my clinic deposit without my knowledge).
She had offered me $100 us for any patient I referred who signed up for treatment.
I even thought, well maybe a small payment for her is ok. However since my experience is now that she is not supportive unless things are hunky dory and you don't ask for assistance, I realize that her services are not very valuable. The people I originally recommended I will now contact and tell them the truth.
I will also get some advice on the legal aspects of this scam.

Sheri Burke was wonderful and the sole reason why my husband & I chose to go to FCC for our donor egg/HS IVF. After speaking with her multiple times, she helped guide us to make the decisions that were right for us and she facilitated our trip. Without her knowledge and guidance and patience and kindness, we would not have felt comfortable traveling abroad for our ivf cycle. She was with us every step of the way. I highly recommend Sheri Burke, and FCC.

Sorry if others had a negative experience. A negative experience could occur at any clinic. I had a negative experience at ivf clinics both in Canada and in the USA.

But her near-daily support was invaluable to us. She works HARD and she's BUSY and she still always found the time to comfort me and answer my loads of (probably many silly and ignorant) ongoing questions.
