Hello,

I did my first round of IVF 4 years ago and had precious twin boys. We just did a frozen transfer in Dec. that resulted in a chemical pregnancy and the rest of our embryos did not survive ( overall we lost six and were shocked) We were so sure that we would have one or two more from our frosties and were devastated with how it turned out. We have already spent 25k of our own money on fertility treatments. To have more means to start all over again and that means a huge chunk of money again.

We have been presented with an opportunity to be part of an invocell trial. This is a device where they put the eggs and the sperm into it and put it back into you for them to fertilize. To treat you as the incubator instead of a lab. Since this is a trial we should be able to try this very cheaply. I am curious as to if anyone else has ever tried this yet and how it worked out? Thank you for any info :)

So for an update: To make it into the trial I had to have two blood tests, one to test my amh? (i think its called) and another to test my fsh on cycle day 3. Had to have a normal pap within 12 months and then I had to go in for a chlamydia culture, all came back normal. Lastly my husband had to have his sperm analyzed. Thankfully all of this has come back great and we are good to go.

To be a part of the trial you have to do a test run where you wear the invocell device for 5 days, if all goes well with that you get to do the real thing next. I am scheduled to go in and have it placed on Friday.   I am nervous about the procedure since no one can really tell me what to expect.

For the test run we get paid 200 dollars, and then for the real deal we pay 3000. So in the end its about 2800 overall, which is an amazing cost!

Its exciting to be finding and hearing from others going through this now as well!

Hi Cassidy,

How did today go? Are you feeling ok?

We don't to a trial run, so no 200 bucks for us! :)

Do you know when your trigger, retrieval, "chamber insertion", and transfer will be?

We are anticipating around May 3 for trigger. Hope we get that far and I respond well to the injections!

Can't wait to here from you!

Rocky- I went in yesterday to have the invocell device put in. It literally takes about a min to put in, and you cant even tell its there! So that is great news :)

I go in Wed. to have it removed. Not sure when we will be doing the whole thing for real, hopefully soon.

Hi Rocky, I am in London too and was accepted into the study. I'm still on stims and will have retrieval next week. What about you? I'm freaking out about all this and very nervous. Nice to see others going through the study. Dying to hear someone with a positive outcome. We have had 2 failed IUIs, several medicated cycles and diagnosed with "unexplained infertility." Ugh.

If you're interested, I have a blog...http://onpinsandneed....wordpress.com/

I document how I'm feeling here. Maybe you can relate?

Hi everyone,

My stims are going ok so far. The usual...feeling anxious and bloated at the same time.

My expected retrieval is Friday, May 10ish. I'm very nervous. I really would love to hear some positive results from someone going through this.

Hi Cassidy. Unfortunately I ended up with OHSS so didn't have the transfer yet but did retrieve 23 eggs and I think the last count was that 13 or 14 were excellent quality embryos. We had to freeze them because of the hyperstimulation. I was pretty sick for at least 10 days and just now starting to feel better.

They said that the embryos in the invocell and the ones that were kept in vitro were almost the same so they considered it a success. My transfer won't be for another 6 weeks or so.

I think Rocky had her transfer (we connected offline). She had two embryos transferrred I believe.

I didn't really feel the invocell inside of me but had a hard time with the progesterone supplements getting to where they needed to be with the invocell in there!

Hi everyone!

When my husband and I found out we were going to need to do IVF to get pregnant (hopefully), and after seeing the cost (I'm a tight wad!!), I immediately hopped online and started searching for trials around the area. That's when I found the Invocell trial CARE fertility is offering... Well, I made an appointment to talk about the options, and our doctor suggested I have my AMH levels checked again. I thought this was crazy, because I had been told those levels don't fluctuate very much, but what could it hurt, right?!   Weeelll we finally got the call today saying my levels DID go down, and we are accepted into the trial! Yessss! Naturally, I started doing research about the "device" and stumbled upon this website. We go in June 4th to get it put in for the pilot trial and boy am I nervous already! Anyways, Cassidy, it seems like you are probably going to the same clinic as we are...good to see that the nurses weren't lying when they said other patients have already had the device put in and everything turned out fine! From what I've been told it's just a waiting game for them to fill the spots in order to proceed to the next step!

Sorry so long... I'm just so excited, and it's barely began!!

Sept 3,2013- Bloodwork- E2=60 (not so good-should be 100). Told to up the dose of Follistim to 150. I know this has to do with AF arriving late, I just know it!

Sept 5, 2013- Blood work and U/S. E2 is right where it needs to be! P.S.-Menopur sucks. Really! It burns, takes forever to inject and now it's leaving huge bruises!

Mollie,

That is great that you were accepted into the trial :) Yes I go to the same clinic and I finished the trial a few weeks ago. It was very easy with no issues. You can barely tell the device is in there. The only thing is that I was super paranoid so I would walk carefully, and go to the bathroom carefully, LOL! Its exciting to hear other people getting it done now because they are making us wait for the first round of people to do it together and I am very ready to get started :) We have a vacation planned in August and I am starting to get worried that we wont be able to go if they cycles dont start soon. We shall see. What area are you in?

Cassidy,

Thanks for the advice! lol When I asked the nurse how long it would be before we start the real deal, she said it's about half way full with participants so it should be about 3 more months or so... that would put it around august-ish. I would be calling in about every month or so to check up on the numbers and if they have any estimation of when we will start if I were you! I'd sure hate to miss a chance to relax, but I think this is more important... hopefully it will all work out! Do you mean what area do we live in? Or is that some kind of IVF lingo? :) If you mean live, we're in Midlothian-I believe it's south west of Dallas! How about you? Also, I noticed above you said you had twins from IVF; If you don't mind me asking, was it IVF with ICSI or was it just IVF? We were suggested by our last RE (which I was not very confident in) that we should use ICSI, and after looking up some facts it seems like multiples are more common if the doctor uses that action... I am just curious...we want twins, and they run in his side of the family, but of course we will be happy if we are lucky enough to get anything!

Mollie- Oh my gosh, they have gone longer on the time frame, lol> it used to me a month or two... Yeah I was asking about where you live. I am in the Lewisville area, I believe thats about 45 min to an hour away.

On our very first round of IVF we got pregnant with twin boys, no ICSI, my husband has above average sperm. All of the issues are with me, mainly my tubes.

We did a FET in NOV. and although I had positive pregnancy tests for a couple of days they went negative and it didnt stick :( We were sure we would have at least one or two more because we had had 6 little frosties waiting. Not only did they not take but we lost all of the other ones and are back at square one.

We do have one older son as well. We were blessed with him before my tubal issues (which were caused by a bad Dr)

Sometimes I feel guilty for wanting more, but we have always wanted a big family. After pouring so much money into this over the years we are so excited to be able to be a part of this trial :) This will be it for us though, if it does not work this time we will move onto adoption instead.

Sorry, I just threw a lot of information out there, lol. Keep us updated on how your trial goes :)

Hi Cassidy,

Yeah, I know exactly where Lewisville is...my husband taught there about a year ago! So sorry to hear the FET didn't work...I can't begin to imagine how excited you were and then how deflated you felt after. Also, it's scary to think a doctor caused any kinds of issues, especially something so life changing. You just never know... I think it's good that ya'll are open to adoption; but hopefully the trial works for you! We looked into fostering after about 1 year of not getting pregnant, thinking that would take our mind off things and we could feel positive that we were helping kids, but unfortunately our representative was awful and really didn't seem to show much effort in helping us get the ball rolling. I couldn't figure out how to get ahold of someone else to get another case worker, because apparently there are only like 3 people who handle fostering in this region, so I took it as a sign for us to focus on each other. Theres plenty of kiddos out there that need families...unfortunately it's just so dang expensive!

Well, good luck to you in the trial as well, let me know if you hear anything about the start date getting bumped up! I'm trying to stay positive about everything, but it's so hard not to think about the what-ifs...the wait is going to drive me crazy!! Talk to you later :)

Mollie
