Hello Mamaselina,

All the best to you and DH on your upcoming cycle.

We were also dealing with MF issues and when we cycled at SIRM, the doctor recommended a supplement called Proceptin. It helped my husband's samples and we went from "you should really use donor sperm" to "hey we can use his."

So I am an advocate. Prior to finding out about Proceptin, we both did acupuncture (which also helped my DH's numbers and quality) for several months. I also had him taking a lot of different supplements. He didn't like taking lots of different pills, and some were pretty large so cutting back to one kind of pill (3-4 a couple times a day as I recall) was more manageable.

BUT

My husband still resisted taking pills when he switched to 1 brand, and sometimes it was just like trying to get a pet cat to take a pill. You are very fortunate to have a DH who is onboard with doing that right from the get-go.

There are a lot of options and supplement regimens to follow. All the best in finding one that works for your DH and building a family.

My DH is on Fertil aid, we don't have male factor, but he had one sample with 0% morphology, (out of at least 12), so he takes it to give him the best sperm possible.  Can't say it's hurt him, but they are horse pills.

You can order FertilAid from a company called Fairhaven Health that has FREE SHIPPING within North America. We got FertilAid and MotilityBoost because DH's motility in Sept. was "too low to assess." :(  He recently had it re-tested for IVF and it was fantastic! I don't know if the pills did it or that it was just a longer time since his VR (vasectomy reversal), but I'm keeping him on both FertilAid and MotilityBoost until we get our baby. They are just vitamins and minerals, not scary stuff.

TTC since 2011. Started my first IVF Feb.-March 2013: BFP!! Positive beta Mar.19. DD born Nov. 19, 2013.

Thinking about a sibling... FET Sept. 15, 2015.

BFP on HPT Sept. 25. BFP on beta Sept. 28 & 30.

Ultrasound 10/16 showed a healthy little tadpole with heartbeat of 141 measuring 1 day ahead.

Second ultrasound scheduled for Nov. 6.

This is a great discussion. Thank you. I went to the Fairhaven website and it said free shipping to the US only. sad.png

When we are ready to cycle again, we will be taking Coenzyme Q10 in Ubiquinol form (or I I was thinking so anyway) and I also see there are brands available on Amazon where there is free shipping.

I have heard good things about these Fertil supplements, but I am curious about the CoQ10 amount. One of them I clicked on said it was only 100 g and to take 1 pill a day. I thought the recommended dose was 400-600 mg a day if it's Ubiquinol, and that some people even take 800. But more if it's CoQ10 which has less absorption rate so for the cost and amount of pills needed Ubiquinol is recommended (also just read a thread where Dr. Fiona was explaining this, since I'm not doing a great job.)

How did you choose to take a certain product over another is my question?

I am new to the supplement thing so genuinely asking smile.png

Yeah, I haven't found a website yet that does free shipping of Fertilaid to Canada.

As for the CoQ10 - from what I understand is that you'd take 300mg of ubiquinol or double the dose of ubiquinone (what is usually sold as CoQ10 in the stores; hence 600mg). At least that's the dose I take. Btw, your husband should take CoQ10, same dose (unless he's on a supplement that already has it, such as FertilAid)

I get all my supplements from the Canadian Vitamin Shop. I just did some Google research...not a lot of places sell ubiquinol, so I went with that one (believe it was also the cheapest I found, although it's still ridiculously expensive).

Big fan of fertilaid here - DH has gone from 0 count to over 6 million and counting. Motility was up to 72% on his last test. We are using donor but also banking his sperm for future use.

I have to ask, when you say zero, you mean none, not even a dead one??? My dh had a zero sa as well. We don't know the cause yet, but I like that you got to 6 million. That is so great! I hope we can get the same results. :)

I had my fiancé on Fertilaid for Men & CountBoost for two months, and his concentration went to 3 million from 1.5 million (or 6 million total from 1 million).  We are finishing the third and last bottles now, and our naturopath has him on L-Caritine 1000mg/day, L-Arginine 1000mg/day (we bought NOW brand), an ACES+zinc (Cyto Matrix, a Canadian brand) blend which includes Vitamin A, C, E & Selenium plus zinc, as well as ashwagandha capsules (Rejuvenox). Fingers crossed.  But FertilPro looks interesting... fiancé gets very discouraged taking 15 pills per day.
