When do you expect the period ofter the Lupron-depot.

I am having two shots a month apart, after the endometrial bx, and Dr C told me should see him 4 weeks after the second dose, to plan the IVF.

Well, after calling the clinic found out he will be away and my appointment is now almost 7 weeks after the second dose...........so I am frustrated..th_agrr.gif ............( I wish one day I pick up that phone and they tell me oh yes come when is convenient for you,......like tomorrow...!!!! ...........wel.....l enough dreaming............!!!)

Lupron puts you on menopause, shuts down everything, but not sure for how long. The secretary tried to convince me that we have enough time, but what if the period comes ????? The uncertainty kicking in again, mostly because I dont know what happens in that appointment, when is this IVF coming, hopefully not in the summer.....1087.gif

Me 40, DH 49

IVF 1 - 5 embryos - PGD - all abnormal

IVF 2- 8 embryos - PGD- 2 N, one transfer - BFN, the other gone after thawing

IVF 3- 4 embryos - none on day 5

That is the end of IVF journey

Hi Sophie_H I just had my app with Dr C. last week he said that I will get my period 3 mths after my first shot. My second shot was jan 4 so he said I should be getting my period mid March. Hope this eases your mind a bit. I have been having mild abdominal cramps on and off have you been experiencing the same symptoms?

Hi Sophi- Sorry to hear of the scheduling conflict, but just in case this happens again I wanted to let you know you can request to see someone else in Doctor C's absence. I once asked what happens when he's not there and he said "I've basically cloned myself so there will always be someone here to take over. We all cover for each other."

Just two weeks ago, they gave me my schedule and I realized I was on Lupron for an EXTRA two weeks to accomodate his vacation time and I said "no way, let me see someone else then", and they adjusted it accordingly.  Personally, I've already had delays because of the clinic's holiday closure so I was tired of being on the clinic's schedule instead of my body's. Plus, why should any of us have to be on medication longer than necessary...

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I am a patient of Dr. Cadesky. I have been on long courses of Lupron twice. This last time, after two and a half months, I asked for Provera to induce my period.

Don't want to upset you, but i was first put on the Lupron in May of 2011 (at 41) and I am just doing the first FET from my first retrieval (never did a fresh cycle) NOW. I will be 43 in May.

It is so hard to be patient. You can talk to me anytime.

Hi Girls, thank you all for your responses.

It is easy to get frustrated with the wait times in this process.....but we have to be patient.....so I am telling myself at least when I start IVF dont have to deal with the snow.........!!!

Dannee - yes I am experiencing some cramps, even some spotting after the first shot. My second shot was febr 4, so I guess the period will be in April. What happens next ? When you start the IVF ?

Hopefulbrooke- Hope this cycle is going well for you. I was thinking of what happens if DrC is not there during the IVF but you answered that question for me, I will keep an eye on the meds and calendar when I start the IVF  dont stay on any meds longer that I should........all these meds are extra hormones and who knows the long term side effects?

Poppy - hopefully all goes well with your FET. I was thinking about the Provera, but how long you wait after the lupron ? Maybe I will ask him in the appointment do give me the script and a time frame.

Hi Just Hatched,

Thanks for the well wishes.

I had my last lupron shot on September 24ish and by early December I was getting frustrated. I called Dr. C's office and asked Sharon the receptionist for Provera. She said yes and had Dr. C prescribe it immediately. Said it would work in 2-10 days and it took 14!!! Started the pills on Dec 8 and got my period on the 22.

This waiting really is for the birds. I cannot even possibly believe how long it's been since I started...As a result, I simply cannot believe the FET is FINALLY here on Monday...:)

Provera had some unpleasant side effects too. Not as bad as the Lupron. Mood swings, cramping, exhaustion...

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Hi girls,

I had my first Lupron shot on May 29 and my second (and last) shot will be on June 26.

I read that some of you have considered taking Provera to induce a period after Lupron. My questions are whether you know:

1 What effect Provera might have on Lurpon's effectiveness?

2 What the medical advice is in terms of the desirable time period between the last Lupron shot and the first day of taking Provera (i.e. how long would the doctor's advice to wait with Provera).

Thanks for any advice.

Elisabeth

Hey everyone!

I have a question regarding lupron also. I have severe endo and Dr. McNaught at Fertility Ontario put me on Lupron for 3 months (one shot that lasted 3 months). I had the shot on March 13th and my period came June 1st. We are now ready for our next appointment where they will do bloodwork and an ultrasound on day 3. I am waiting for my period to start. I usually have a 33 day cycle, but I am now on CD 37 right now and I'm freaking out because I don't want day 3 to land on a Friday or a weekend because he doesn't do the ultrasounds on those days, so I'd have to wait until my next cycle. My question is, how long will it take for my period to show up? I've already had one since the shot, but how long does it take to het another?
