Normal amount of follicles on day 5 of Stimms??

Hi Everyone,

That's pretty much my question, how many follicles did you have on day 5 of you stimms? I went yesterday and they said I have 13 on my left side and 17 on my right, seems like a lot at this point. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just nervous about OHSS, I don't want quantity over quality eggs.

I should have asked the nurse more questions, but everytime I talk to them I feel so overwhelmed with all the new information that I don't think of these things till later.

May '12 - First appointment at OFC.
Short Protocol w/ Puregon & Orgalutran
Nov 18/12' - First day of stimms!
Nov 30/12' - Egg Retrieval! 9 eggs from my left ovary, RE was unable to safely get into my right so we had to leave them all behind!
Dec 1/12' - 8/9 Fertilized with ICSI! Scheduled for day 5 ET on Dec 5/12'!!
Dec 5/12' - ET of TWO Day 5 Blasts! GROW BABIES GROW! XO!
Dec 12/12' - BFP on Multiple HPT's! Pinch me, is this real??!?
Dec 17/12' - BETA 259!!
Jan 10/13' - FIRST ULTRASOUND - TWO beautiful babies measuring on track. Heartbeats 141 and 153.

Jan 18/13' - First OB app't - Heartbeats 171 and 180! Already so in love with these two beauties!

Feb 11/13' - NT Ultrasound - Everything looks perfect! HB's both in 160's

I had a whole bunch while stimming too, as I got further into my cycle some grew and others didn't. In the end I wound up with 7 retrieved. The docs at the OFC will look after you, sounds really promising to me Jess! Fingers are crossed for an extra special Christmas gift for you and hubby this year :)

I think I had about 10 to 12 on each side when I was stimming - they did change my trigger med and had me take dostinex to help prevent OHSS (which I did not end up having problems with) We ended up with 11 eggs as only the follies that are 15 to 16mm or higher on day of trigger will have eggs. Good luck with your cycle!!!! I'm sure your clinic will take good care of you!

I don't really remember all the numbers, but I would say I had similar numbers to you. I did have OHSS but only after transfer and due to a twin pg. If your E2 numbers get pretty high before retrieval(around 20,000 I think at my clinic) they may prescribe you the OHSS med, or you may be able to request it then. Wishing you lots of luck :)

I had about 10 or 12 on each side from the beginning, and the nurses and docs thought that was just fine! I forget how many they retrieved, but we had 9 mature, and 8 fertilized. 4 made it to day 5. I had mild OHSS (big bloated abdomen and some nauseau), but nothing serious enough to need medical attention. Good luck!

On day 5, I had 4 lead follicles with 27 small on the right and 17 small on the left. I ended up having 25 eggs retrieved and being at risk for OHSS. They gave me dostinex before retrieval and I drank at least 2 litres of water and 1 litre of gatorade every day in addition to eating a lot of lean protein and some higher sodium foods. I didn't end up getting OHSS. OFC takes this very seriously and will tell you that they only have 1 or 2 cases of OHSS a year.

I have 8 lead - 4 on each side and 28 others in there.. Yesterday was day 7 of stimms. I'll go back in tomorrow morning to see where we are at.. I asked if I should get more medication because I only have enough orgalutran for tomorrow and none after, the nurse said well we'lll see because you might trigger and we won't have to worry about it.. So, I'm kinda anticipating a Thursday morning ER. Anxiety is already setting in..

wow! You guys stim well!!

On my IVF (10 yrs ago) I had 6 follicles on day 7 of Gonal-F. (150iu). E2 was at 1108!! I was a young pup back then too!! LOL..
Me: 39. DH 43 TTC:18 yrs DX: stage 4 endo @ 20 yrs old.FSH- 10-12DH - fine 7 corrective surgeries for endo & blocked tubes open 5 ectopics (natural) (cilia in tubes do not work) IVF #1 ... 2 Grade C 8cell - one healthy baby boy!! 2 frozen 4cell and 6cell- Grade BEctopic (natural)2004 - 8 weeks pg - tube exploded - internal bleeding - surgery - other tube closed Feb 2012 - FET - no transfer IVF# 2 (OFC) March 15 2013- 300iu, cetrotide, hcgONE mature follicle - no fertilization.

July 2013 - EPP - BFN
November - 2013 - EPP - One follicle, one egg, natural fertilization = BFP!!
