I am new here. Found out I have a day 3 afc of 5 and amh of 0.5 and fsh of 8. Have been trying for about 1 1/2 years and had one miscarriage. any advice for treatments? Does clomid work? How about injectables? What about acupuncture? I am worried. I am 34 years old.

Hi! I have the same as you (my AMH is even lower). I have just been through two unsuccessful IUIs. The good news was that I responded well to injectibles; I produced more follicles. I am now moving on to IVF and I'm quite hopeful that it will work. There a lots of ladies on here that have succeeded in getting pregnant. We will too:)
Good luck!

Hello

I was the same. My highest AFC ever has been 5. Not impressive at all. My periods were all over the place. First scheduled IUI sis not start due to cyst, 2nd was BFN and 3rd one in Jan 2012 actually got cancelled since I did not responde to injectibles (according to my doctor). I was dianosed POF and told that I may not get periods due to POF. Same happened i did not get periods, got lotsa hot flashes, all signed of POF.

But surprise in May 2012 I found out I was 4 months pregnant. Loss of periods and hot flashes were not POF related but pregnancy.

I was taking supplements (COQ10 600 units, royal jelly, folic acid, B12), took fertility massage at irregular intervals. Not sure what worked but I am 29 weeks pregnant.

There is hope... I was reluctant to believe, but miracles happen.
Dec 2010 Dx - Hyperthyroid
April 2011 - Chemical Pregnancy
May 2011 - Dx DOR
AFC - 3, AMH - 11

Aug 2011 - IUI cancelled due to cyst
Oct 2011 - IUI BFN
Jan 2012 - IUI cancelled due to no response to injectibles
Doctor refused to change protocol or try IVF. Suggested egg donor approach.

Scheduled an appointment with doctor in India.
May 2012 - First appointment with doctor in India. To everyone's surprise I was 4 months pregnant.
EDD - October 14, 2012 Can't wait to see my miracle face to face.

I wouldn't waste time with Clomid. Your response and follicle count may vary from month to month, but it's worth trying injectables. If you don't get pregnant, you'll want to move on fairly quickly to IVF.

Unexplained IF/ DOR. Began TTC in 2008.
After a wild and crazy ride on the treatment train, our baby GIRL arrived on Jan 6, 2012
Hold on.... Surprise spontaneous just 7 months postpartum while still breastfeeding!!! Baby boy born May 2, 2013
My heart couldn't be more full :)

Thanks for all your advice. We decided to start injectables when my next period started. But my period didn't come and I am now 4 wks pregnant! All I did was one accupuncture session as well as took DHEA and co q 10. My beta is 630 and my estrogen and progesterone levels are great. I need some good luck but I am sure everything will be fine. Don't lose hope. Positive vibes to all of you.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!!!!!! I was going to tell you that high fsh at your age means little more than you may not make many eggs during treatment. However, your eggs should be good quality!

My RE said that Clomid wasn't likely to work for me (AFC = 5; FSH = 9). We were told IUI + injectables or IVF were our only viable options. We meet with the RE to go over another AFC and more FSH results, then he'll give us his advice on which option would be better. We think we'll be going with IVF.

Congratulations on your BFP! You give me hope :)
Me: 29 DH: 31
TTC#1
Diagnosed with DOR on Dec 11, 2012
AFC = 5
FSH = 9

Have tried acupuncture, herbs, supplements, preseed, OPKs, BBT, and checking cervical position and mucus

Planning on proceeding with IVF (max of 3 rounds because of finances)
