Hi!

I am 27 and have AMH at 0,85.

Day 3 FSH and Oestradiol are right into normal range.

My cycles are regular and I detect my ovulation every month: ovarian ache, cervical mucus, little spotting in cervical mucus, basal temperature raise...)

Pelvic ultrasound showed normal sized ovaries and I big mature follicule ready to come out at day 15. (the report only mentionned this follicule but I remember also seeing smaller follicules around it and also smaller follicules on the other ovary - don't know how many...)

Hysterosonography showed a bunch of follicules (did not count) in both ovaries but bigger on one side at day 7. The RE even said "you see, there is a bunch of follicules on both sides, so you are not undergoing menaupose" - That was before he found out about the AMH!

I will be doing the day 3 antral follicule count next week... I am not too sure what to expect...

If I have normal AFC, normal FSH but low AMH, does that mean it is the quality of the follicules that is poor?
If AFC is indeed low, with normal FSH... Does this mean I am in early-early menaupose and FSH is likely to go up soon?
What is the difference between DOR and menaupose?
I am officially DOR because AMH is low?

Does anyone else has low AMH with normal everything-else?

At 27, even if your egg supply is decreased, the eggs you do have left should be good quality. Don't delay pursuing treatments, but don't sweat it either. You might start menopause at 42 instead of 52, but not likely next year or anything. Good luck to you.

I have a lowish AMH but present normally in terms of my other hormones (estrogen and FSH). Sometimes women with a low AMH tend to produce fewer eggs but keep in mind that quantity and quality are two different things. And sometimes people with a low AMH respond well to treatment too. A lot depends on protocol. You can have good quality eggs in there but have a low AMH! I think that this is especially the case at age 27. I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and have a low AMH and only had two eggs retrieved after doing a low stim cycle--and I was 39 at the time of my cycle. So...stay hopeful!

Thanks! That's also what my gynecologist thinks... With my cycles being regular, good temperature charts and everything else normal, he thinks that I do produce one good quality egg every month. So he is recommending natural IVF. Is low stim cycle the same as natural IVF or something in between?

Leeloo,

Low-stim is pretty much just like a normal IVF but with fewer drugs. I was just on Puregon (150) whereas in my previous cycles I had been on much higher doses. My doctor felt that with low stim we would try to get a few good quality eggs. I think he felt that sometimes higher dose meds could impair egg quality.

I guess I'll talk about that with the doctor... It seemed to me like my options were only full-stim IFV or natural-IVF... Low stim may give me a chance to get 2 or 3 eggs... Although it might not be offered because of the founding system... Here in Quebec, public insurance pays for 6 cycles of natural IVF OR 3 cycles of stimulated IVF... So I don't know how they deal with low stim... I guess if they count it like stimulated, I'd rather have 6 natural than 3 low-stim... I dunno... Will talk with the doctor...

I got a surprising AFC count of 24 today!!! I saw 2 doctors and both of them were quite puzzled about the discrepancy between an awesome AFC count and a lowish AMH... They concluded that AFC was more reliable, that it would be OK for me to do stimulated IVF if I wanted to, and that the implication of my low AMH would be that I shouldn't wait too much between children. I am still gonna go for natural as we are already on the list and I like the idea of not getting so much medication, we'll switch to stimulation after 1 or 2 if it fails.
