Ok, so it turns out that the IVF Cancun Clinic that Rebekka works for and the Cancun Fertility Clinic Mark was talking about are two different clinics, hence the confusion. Oooooops. I pm'ed Mark and got some info on CFC (the clinic that opens in Oct).

- IVF with ICSI at no extra charge

- All ultrasounds and blood tests

- Vitrification of all leftover embryos (this can be a significant cost)

It does not include the cost of medication and I don't know how much that is right now. I know that the costs are significantly less than here though I have no idea how much.

This is what he says about the doctor: Here is a bio of Dr. Gaytan: http://ivfvacationce...om/dr-gaytan/#. He started the branch of IVI in Mexico, a world famous chain of fertility clinics based in Valencia, Spain. They are leaders in research and development in the fertility field.

Mark is going to see about being able to contact some of his patients, since that is something I would like to know. Mark owns a IVF Vacation Center where they help you with finding the right clinic/doctor and get special rates. He didn't want to spam the thread, so if you wish to contact him with any questions email him at mark@ivfvacationcenter.com .

I am still waiting to hear back from Rebekka about the guarantee and patient referrals. I guess I could could her, but I feel weird.

Ooooops, I forgot the price, lol. $5,800 but like I said that doesn't cover meds. Mark estimated about $1700 for them, but of course every patient will be different in what they need.

Mark also has info on other places, like South Africa and the Ukraine. Really great pricing for those.

4everjrny, I got a bit more info on Dr. Adan from Rebekka and more info from Sheri. Dr. Adan (not his full name) gives you a contract before you leave. The guarantee is in there. You pay nothing until you get there. Here is his old clinic. You will need a translator if you don't know spanish (I use a firefox add on, but google has one as well). I got the impression in his new clinic they are catering more to outside tourists (which I think is the case with most of these clinics). Lots of Canadians and Americans.

IPF (who Rebekka works for) has some guest houses and condos for patients to rent for $500/week. This is a guest house studio that is right on the beach,
here and these are condos in Cancun, here and here

All of the guest houses have a maid and Sheri or her husband pick you up and take you wherever you need to go. This is info on IPF:

and if you go to their youtube channel they have patient video type testimonials, although not for the ivf since that is fairly new.

If anybody is looking to going to a resort, I found some good packages.

Hi Jazmine,

Do you know if Dr Adan offers vitrification as well? I love the idea of the all-inclusive guarantee. Which clinic are you leaning towards? Any idea when you will be going down?

Deb

Hi Deb,

Yes they do embryo freezing because Rebekka had said that they will have our frozen embryos as backup if we need to go down again. She said we can use fresh, but in case for some reason we don't get good ones the next time, we will have the frozen ones on hand.

I keep flipping back and forth with my decision. I feel like I have as really good feeling about Dr. Adan, but I can't explain why. I want to look at the contract first and take it to my lawyer. Then I will decide. I.asked Rebekka a bit about the guarantee the first time I talked to her and am sure medications are not included. So I want to see what exactly is included in the guarantee. I know she said he waives his fees. It is still a savings.

We are going down in the fall, October or November. If I wait until December I have to have surgery again since my last surgery to clean up the endo was December 2, 2010. I think we decided to stay at a resort while there. We have never been, so we dont want to miss the opportunity. It will be a bit more, but in the grand scheme of things, it won't be much more. When are you thinking of going?

Just butting in to note that vitrification is not the same as freezing - vitrification is a newer (although not really 'new') process with, reportedly, less potential damage to eggs/embryos (because water crystals don't form inside). It requires specialized equipment/training and not all clinics offering freezing offer vitrification. Jazmine noted that at least one clinic she's referencing has it, but you may want to speak directly to whichever clinic you're interested in to confirm which they have.

Thank you so much for mentioning that! I am new to ivf and thought that that was the norm now. Good question to ask.

I know that Mark mentioned that vitrification of all leftover embryos was included. Maybe that is why their costs are more.

Tomorrow I am going to call and ask for a copy of the contract and a detailed list of what is included in the price and a detailed list of what is included in the guarantee.

In the meantime, I am looking at resort rates as we will probably be going to Cancun.

Hi Ladies,

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Sassy, you must be getting ready to leave soon. Wondering if you asked whether you could start meds at home? I'm trying to reduce my time in Mexico if possible. I definately won't be able to be there for more than 14 days. Any suggestions?

Hello 4everjrny,

I am officially in GDL. I am staying at Carolina Suites, which is very nice and quiet. I arrived on Friday 6/24 and headed straight to clinic where I received a tour, meet the medical staff and received vaginal exam, schedule, protocol along with 6 vials of menopur. I went back in on Saturday for my first hyberbartic chamber, which was better than I thought. Let's see how the rest of the week will go...

Hi Jazmine,

Just wondering if you have heard from Rebekka lately? I spoke to her once and she was supposed to call me back with answers to questions that I had but I've never gotten a call or email since. I am still interested in the clinic but not if this is the kind of patient service to expect. What have you decided?

I have to call Rebekka back actually because I have been too busy to call. I have talked to her a bunch of times though and she has always called me back. Same with Sheri. They both have spent lots of time on the phone with me, especially Rebekka.

I still am undecided as I was waiting to see about the contract and testimonials from other Dr. Adan patients. I will try to call tomorrow. Maybe you can give her a call tonight? She has called me at night before so it should be ok.

Just a quick note to say I'm thinking of you. Wondering how things are going. FX!!

KUP,
Deb

Hello 4everjrny,

I am officially in GDL. I am staying at Carolina Suites, which is very nice and quiet. I arrived on Friday 6/24 and headed straight to clinic where I received a tour, meet the medical staff and received vaginal exam, schedule, protocol along with 6 vials of menopur. I went back in on Saturday for my first hyberbartic chamber, which was better than I thought. Let's see how the rest of the week will go...

Sara

That is great, I will have my fx for you!!!!!!! Relax and enjoy your stay. Keep us posted. :Emoticons09780:

Hi Jazmine,

I just wanted to let you know I received an email from Rebekka today. She included a price list where I was shocked to see the Guarantee Program was an additional $2000 and freezing an extra $1500. She never mentioned any of this over the phone. I got the impression the IVF fee was inclusive. Have you received anything in writing? I feel like I'm getting the run around.

Hi Ladies! I am new to the forum, but have found it so interesting already! I am headed to Guadalajara in two and a half weeks, first day in clinic is august 4th. Just curious if anyone else will be down there then or know of anyone who has successfully conceived working with Dr. Medina Flores?

Me 36, DH 41, TTC since 1999
Went to fertility specialist in 2002
LAP in 2003 found ENDO and cleaned it up
2003 did 6 cycles of Letrozole and Clomid. Couldn't use every cycle due to cysts so it took well over a year.
2003-2004 hated the way I felt on the drugs so after my treatment I opted out for the recommended IVF
Another LAP to clean up ENDO in fall of 2005
Winter 2005 decided to adopt
2007 finished our PRIDE training and started Fostering With A View
2007-2008 fostered two beautiful toddlers that went back to their BM
2009-2011 fostered a 1 month old infant and 2 year old toddler for 706 days. Went to another adoptive family and because we were 3 weeks short of our two years our lawyer can't get us to even see a judge. We have no rights.
December 2010 had another LAP to clean up ENDO
April 2011 looking into IVF - Started acupuncture
January 16, 2012 went for IVF in Mexico via IVF Cancun and International Patient Facilitators

Nope, I haven't called her yet. I never heard anything like that. She always made it sound included in the price! We might have to wait till January so I was giving myself a break from the stress of it for a while. We are trying naturally to see if things have changed. My levels are perfect right now so we figured why not.

I will have to give her a call. Did you get the actual contract? Is that where these extra costs are mentioned? What did Rebekka or Sherri say when asked about it?

I have to get back to Mark as well. I just haven't been focused on it lately. I have been trying to get the strength to pack up my boys things and clean out their room. My acupuncturist says I really need to do it before I get pregnant so the stress of it doesn't cause miscarriage if/when I do become pregnant. I will try to make some phone calls this week.

Hi Jenelle and welcome!
I'll be in GDL at the beginning of September to see Dr. Medina, but I do know that both Prayers and Sassy have already been there. I'm not sure how things went for Sassy as she has not responded to any messages but I'm hoping for good news soon from her. I did chat briefly with a woman on another site that got pregnant with Dr. Medina. Best wishes and baby dust to you.

Thanks Jazmine! Looks like you have had a long road so far. I have heard great things about doing accupuncture with IVF, so I too have been doing it. I went and saw a naturopath and she taught me many things I didn't know about my body and supplements to take to help prep my body. Vit B6, low dose (81mg) aspirin and essential fatty acids such as cod liver, flax or COQ10(I think that's the name) apparently help alot when taken every day.Wishing you nothing but the best! I'll keep you ladies posted day by day if I can :) I can't argue an 80% success rate that Dr.Medina in GDL has :)

Jenelle,

Welome to the thread. I was looking into Dr. Medina as well. Wondering where you heard the 80% success rate from? I wish we could find someone who had a BFP there. FX. GL

I sent Rebekka a message regarding my disappointment with the change in prices and that I was under the impression everything was included. She replied back that the price list came out after our phone conversation but not to worry, she would give me a deal. WTH??? Not sure how that would work, doubt the clinic would change prices just for me. I sent another email asking for more info but haven't heard back. It's been over a week. Please let me know if you hear more from Mark. I think I need to keep looking.
