Let's Have Some Fun
Baking soda gender test
So you put a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup then put a little bit of pee in the cup, and if it sizzles, it's a boy, and if it does nothing, it's a girl! Supposedly your urine is more acidic if you're carrying a boy, (hence the sizzling action) and more alkaline if you're carrying a girl.

I took it from here:

Welcome Meggg, good to see you here.
For my u/s I was told to come with a full bladder and usually the internal one is an empty bladder so I'm a bit confused now. Do you think it's an internal with full bladder or some clinics doing one and some the other?

Feb - Oct 2010 - 4 unmedicated IUI's, 2 medicated IUI's with clomid - all BFN

Sept 2010 - surgery for uterine polyp

2011 - successful IVF, welcomed baby boy

hopingtobe3 at 10 weeks there will be just few more weeks to see it with the U/S ... and there is never 100% warranty ... One of my friends has a boy that supposed to be a girl based on two or three U/Ss. The room was pink and everything else .... so we should wait 7-8 more months to be sure :D

Good luck tomorrow TCM and Laura - don't forget to ask for pics.

The Intelligender is marketed as "just for fun" ---kind of like a fortune cookie or furtune teller you pay $35 for a yes or no answer. They will be correct 50% of the time! Just know that before you spend $35 on it! Read more about the scam and pending lawsuit here andfrom Intelligender's website FAQs including not to rely on the reults (!!) here.

It's basically a $35 coin toss.

Hi Everyone,

To help with some of the u/s questions. I saw my doctor the moment I found out I was pregnant and informed her of some back pain, mild cramping. She was concerned and wanted to get me in for an early u/s, the earliest one was either yesterday or in 3-4 weeks, so she had me go yesterday at 5 weeks. I had to have a full bladder. They attempted a regular u/s but couldn't see anything, so they had me empty my bladder and they did an internal u/s. It wasn't uncomfortable at all and is completely safe because is stays vaginal, they don't in deep so that it will harm the baby. The u/s technician didn't say much other than she can see I'm pregnant, but it was too early to find out much more. I go back to see my doctor next Tuesday. I'm soooo nervous!!!

Well that's no fun! I thought it might be a semi accurate and yet still 'fun' way to get the result earlier. For 50/50 results I might as well go by my chinese gender chart prediction (girl BTW :)). I guess we have to wait until 20 weeks then.

I also asked some ladies at my clinic who are further along about the ultrasound and they said that you start off with a full bladder for an external and then they have you go pee and do an internal as well. Not sure why both, perhaps to get a view of different things from different angles.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update: my ultrasound today was great! We saw the baby measuring right on track. Heartbeat was strong and doc said everything looks perfect. Doc estimates it at 140-150 bpm but said they don't take the actual because at this young stage they don't want to be shooting things at it (pulse/sound waves I assume). Next U/S is in 2 wks and at that point we'll see the arms and legs and baby moving! I'll stop prometrium then as well, and they'll refer me to an OBGYN as I'll be cleared to go. Yay!

Today was also my first bout of nausea! I didn't throw up thankfully. I laid down and had a nap and it was better when I woke up. How's everyone doing?

Hi Ladies!

My ultrasound went great today! The doctor (Dr. M too - Valasia) was happy and said that he doesn't need to see me anymore and I'm off to an OBGYN for the next u/s in a few weeks. He said it was a strong heartbeat and we got to hear it too. AMAZING!!! He says his bet is on a boy. DH video taped it on his phone so I can play it back and listen to it. So great! My little lullaby! He is emailing us the pictures.

Off to bed for me...exhausted!

Hello everyone!
I would like to join your forum if you don't mind...

I am due around October 20th. First u/s Feb. 28th. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow--I am a Friday girl :)Cannot wait! Can anyone help me figure this out-I am going to be 5 weeks tomorrow or starting week 6???

I am scared and excited at the same time. I berely have ANY symptoms and that really scares me. At first I had a lot of cramping but since five days ago that stopped. The only thing I am feeling now is occasional pain in my uterus area. At the same spot where I (think) felt the implementation. It is a sharp pain, always in the same spot. I am getting really scared about this. Anyone else exsperienced the same? My bbs do not hurt at all but did get wider and little heavier.

"Just a quick update: my ultrasound today was great! We saw the baby measuring right on track. Heartbeat was strong and doc said everything looks perfect"

Yaaay! Congrats- it must be reassuring eh? That's interesting about your doc saying they don't want to shoot the sound waves at the baby. Never thought of that - that it could be harmful.

I still have another 2 weeks to wait for my FIRST u/s at 9 weeks. Last time I was at the clinic was for the transfer...so I am really really nervous about the ultrasound. I've got full blown morning sickness which is reassuring though and I pretty much pass out at 7:30 pm and sleep all night through, so something is going on :Emoticons01015:

Willbemommy, it's both. You're 5 weeks pregnant and you're starting your 6th week. It's like when a kid turns one and then they're in their second year but not 2 until the end of that year. At least that's my understanding of it, make sense? And welcome!

Congrats to Laura and TCM for their wonderful news yesterday. Laura, I wonder what would make the doc thing it's a boy. Seems like a pretty risky thing to say to someone given that he's only got a 50/50 chance of being right this early!!

AFM my general queasiness has now been upgraded to nausea. No vomiting (yet) but feeling really gross. I was reading up on diclectin last night and it seems safe but I'm still nervous about asking for it. No drug is 100% safe. My naturopath said to try vitamin B1 and B6 (and B6 is half of the ingredients of diclectin) so I'm going to go to the drug store and pick those up and try them first. Oh, And it's THursday so now I'm officially 6 weeks!!!

Feb - Oct 2010 - 4 unmedicated IUI's, 2 medicated IUI's with clomid - all BFN

Sept 2010 - surgery for uterine polyp

2011 - successful IVF, welcomed baby boy
