What a great thread! Such great photos & stories behind the tattoos.

I have one very small tattoo on my left foot below my inner ankle bone of Mickey Mouse's profile. As a kid, I loved our Disney family vacations and always associated Mickey with childhood & innocence. I got it done with 2 gals in University right before we went to FLA in our 2nd year. It's pretty funny when I do go to Disney World or Canada's Wonderland when little kids are crawling around on the ground while waiting in line & they spot it. I've heard a lot of "Mommy, that lady has Mickey Mouse on her foot" & it always brings a smile to my face. He's so small that many people I've known for years don't even realize I have it - good thing since I work in a pretty conservative industry!

I only have one, its a tramp stamp that I got a few years ago. I finished university, broke up with the jerk I had dated for 4 years and moved to Ireland for 4 months. It was the best experience of my life and I never want to forget everything that I learned from it. So I have a tattoo that is half of a shamrock and half of a maple leaf with the stems intertwined. I love it!

I want to get our wedding date along with something for our future children on my hip. It has to be somehting that I can add to as we have more children. I was thinking little hearts with the dates beside them. DH is totally not a tattoo guy, but he wants to get one when we have children. He is hugely into soccer and whenever a country wins the world cup, they get a yellow star above the team patch, over their heart. He wants one for each baby and one for me. I doubt he will actually do it, but I think its a really sweet idea!

I have three.
My first is of winnie the pooh, its on shoulder blade. I got it done when I was 15, it symbolized having a baby when I was still a baby myself and essentially getting "caught" with my hand in the honey jar.

My second is a tramp stamp, the butterfly is for my losses and the stars are for my children

The third is new (got it on Sunday) and its my sons initial with the ribbon that represents his type of cancer, the scroll like vine style it to represent life and continued growth.

I have always loved tattoos, my husband has the dodge ram logo from shoulder to shoulder on his back and he's adding to the piece soon, he would love to get sleeves done but his job would really not like that.

Cool thread!

I'm thinking about getting a small tattoo over my laparoscopy scar ... maybe a butterfly or a dragonfly. Sitting on the fence though because #1 DH is not a fan of tattoos and #2 I'm wondering if putting a tattoo anywhere near the abdomen might be a mistake ... just in case I gain weight as I age!

Did you end up getting the tattoo?

:)

It's been a while since anyone shared their tattoo stories or photos. :)

Hahaha ... no, no tattoo.  I think it's a good thing.  IVF weight gain would have made for a wonky-shaped butterfly, and the scar has almost disappeared now.  (Well, it's pretty hard to see anyway compared to the fresh two-inch scar on my pelvis from the last endo surgery!  LOL)

What about you GG?

You make a good point about body change, Impatient. Hmm.

No tattoo for me, but I still love the stories behind them.

My husband is considering a memorial tatto and if he goes ahead with it, I will post the photo here. He will be my stand-in, lol. :)

We got memorial tattoos on valentine's Day while we were in Mexico. There's photos of them right after they were finished in my gallery but I still can't upload photos in posts mobilely. I keep getting the stupid error message and no one from the site has responded.

Mine has the saying "i carry your hear i carry it in my heart" running down the middle and on either side is two little hearts for the twins, one is angel wings since it was so early and we didn't know what it was and the other is a kind of tribal design with Carter in the middle. It's on my lower left back.
Jay's is an image from one of my ultrasounds where the baby was facing forward. We always jokingly called it the skull baby. It also kind of looked like he was fist pumping, lol. That's on his shoulder with Carter written below it.

Me - now 36 Him - 37
Trying to conceive since our wedding day May 25, 2008.
Started Clomid Jan-April 2012.
Referred to RFP June 2012.
First consult at RFP November 2012.
First IVF cycle on antagonist protocol (GonalF, Luveris) January 2013.
Transferred two day-3 embryos, had severe OHSS, lost one twin between 7-13 weeks but was expecting one little one October 2013.
Found out at 6 mos that our little one had died weeks earlier and had to induce and deliver stillborn, July 25, 2013.
Something found on adrenal gland at follow up ultrasound, MRI showed what seems to be a benign tumor. Meeting with specialist Jan 8, 2014 - all fertility treatments on hold. :/
Tumour is definitely producing Aldosterone (causes high blood pressure) and Cortisol. Lucky me, only 34 similar cases recorded in the world! Tumour removed May 2014.
Approached about a possible adoption March 2014. Rush through all the paperwork and process.
Charlotte Evangeline born June 27, 2014. We brought her home on July 7 and held our breath for 10 days until she officially became ours.
Surprise BFP October 2014. Due to wonky cycles, ultrasounds convince Doctors I have a blighted ovum but detailed ultrasound reveals heartbeat at 6w3d. On progesterone support and waiting to see if pregnancy is still viable. Holding our breath again.
Adalyn Marie born on June 9, 2014 after a roller coaster pregnancy.

Those are really moving memorials, JacMac.

(I had asked our tech guy about a fix for the mobile photo uploads, but he's not available at this time.)

Mine is on my left hip and none too pretty these days. I got it when I was 17, my first month in college. I ended up marrying the first boy I showed it to, DH was just a friend and classmate then! The artist wasn't great and it has stretched as I've umm...'blossomed'. I still love it, I would just like to get it re-done. It's an image taken from an antique broach I have of my great grandmothers, a purple and green Scottish thistle inside a circle of knotwork. It's about 2.5 inches across
