Hi Dr. Fiona,

Can you tell me how wheatgrass benefits female and/or male fertility? Are there any risks to consuming it while pregnant?

Thanks!

Hi Dana
Wheatgrass is very high in chlorophyll and so is a great cellular nutrient and detoxifier (without being overly detoxifying). Wheatgrass is thought to improve health of follicles, agriculture has found that it does so in animals such as cows, birds, and chickens, producing more healthy follicles and increasing successful reproduction overall while feeding on the supplement. Many women also find the same!
There are no risks to taking it in pregnancy. Do not consume wheatgrass if you are allergic to grass, otherwise it is generally very safe.
Wishing you all the best,

Dr Fiona

Hi Barb, wheatgrass is not a herb with hormonal effects so it can be used during your cycle. It is more of a food than a herb.
It is hard to know if you are affected by dairy without getting full testing, I usually ask patients to avoid drinking milk during cycles for that reason

Thanks and good luck with your cycle!

Dr Fiona
