I'm 25dp2dt. My beta's indicate that this is a chemical pregnancy and should expect it to fail. I just want to move forward and feel normal. Whatever that is.
Anyhow, I was wondering how long after transfer did others have AF finally show up?
Was it much heavier than normal?
How far along does someone have to be before they need a d&c?
Thanks

Hi Hopeful, so sorry things didn't work out for you this go 'round.
I expect everyone and every case is a little different but for me AF was always a good bit heavier after a chemical. The timeframe varied a lot; I think once AF arrived just a day or so after beta and a couple of times in the 7-10 days late range. My Dr told me if it went longer than 10 days to come in and they'd assess what the next step might be (I think they can try to bring it on with drugs as well as the D&C option).
Fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear your bad news.
After my first chemical (very low beta), yes, AF was a killer, and AF after that was late by almost a week, and then also pretty heavy.
After my early miscarriage (at 6 weeks), I have never bled that heavily in my life - I couldn't even compare it to AF. Now, I'm on the next AF, and it's also pretty heavy. To answer your question about a D&C, I was offered one, but declined. I felt that I was too early along to really warrant one (given the risks). However, my RE told me that if the bleeding didn't stop or got heavier instead of lighter, that I would have to do it.

Sorry, dissapointed.
Everyone keeps telling me that 'at least you know you can get pregnant', but that doesn't cheer me up. There's nothing good about a chemical/early miscarriage - it makes for a really, really, really long and stressful 2ww!

Disapointed, there is no tmi for me. I need all the info I can get to understand what the F is going on. My 4th beta today at 6 weeks prego is 263. I am meeting with my RE later to find out what to expect. My beta is rising but so slowly that I am not holding out much hope for a miracle.

hi hopefull39 and everyone else,
Hopefull39, I've been following your story in the Jan IVF thread and I just wanted to say how sorry I am for what you are going through. I too have had both a chemical pregnancy and an early M/C (some might also call it a chemical...) so I can relate very much to your experience. I always said I would rather a BFN than a chemical, because at least you can move forward, whatever path that may be.
For me, the true chemical pregnancy was quite brief, and my beta was only ever as high as 20. I think if I had not been on the progesterone, my period would have been on time. It was definitely heavier though, and that probably also has to do with the prog.
The M/C / chemical that I had was a bit longer. It was a totally natural conception so I wasn't on any prog. We figure my beta was somewhere in the 200s, then started declining. I spotted for a few days, then started heavy bleeding at about 5.5 weeks, which is why for me, I call it a M/C, a this was not a normal AF. The cramps were quite bad as well...
My RE at the time said that a D and C was not necessary.....usually only necessary if your beta is above 500 if I recall correctly. But I was already bleeding at the time of this convo so the process was underway naturally.
If you are at all planning on trying again, I would avoid a D and C, because you do have to wait at least 3 months after that to start again. There are definitely meds that they can give you if nature doesn't take it's course. They prescribe methotrexate for ectopics, and mesoprostol for inducing miscarriage in a lot of places.......
I just pray this will be over for you soon, it is such a cruelty to go through what you are experiencing, I've never understood how these things are allowed to happen to good people
Take care of yourself,
SF
