Hi all, Yes I am sure I am losing my mind. I have taken 4 hpt's over the last three days and they keep getting darker and darker,the last one was immediate and very dark. I woke up this morning spotting and I am now bleeding full on. I took another HPT (stupid sticks ) and it was a very dark positive. So here I am at 11:00 AT NIGHT BY MYSELF (DH is at a hockey game) feeling like I may lose it at any second. Can anyone tell me how this is possible. My Beta is on Wedensday.I do believe I will be clinically insane by then. Well I guess really I just wanted to vent a little but if any one has wise words of hope for me I would be soooo happy to hear them.

Sorry, I can do much other than state the obvious - I would ring the clinic first thing in the morning and ask to do the beta earlier on the basis of your HPT and bleeding. In the meantime, have a nosy around this site - there are lots and lots of stories of women who had spotting or bleeding but went on to have perfectly healthy and normal pregnancies.

Male factor (ASA), high FSH (15-30), poor responder; right ovary lazy (quadruple whammy!)
IVF#1, March/April '09 - 5 follicles, 3 eggs retrieved, 2 fert (ICSI), 2 good embies. BFN
IVF#2, Aug '09 (after two cancellations for high FSH) - 8 follicles, 4 eggs, 3 fert, 3 good embies. BFN, but 1 frostie in the bank.
IVF#3, Dec '09 (after more cancellations for high E2 & high FSH) cancelled CD7: 2 tiny follies, low E2, FSH through the roof, thin lining & a cyst - you name it, it went wrong
IVF#4, Feb/March '10 - FSH down to 15; 8 follies; 6 eggs, ALL fertilised; 2 embies 8+ cell transferred; 4 frozen - BFN (the perfect cycle, but for that small detail)
FET #1 April/May '10 (natural/unmedicated) cancelled due to no LH surge;
FET #1, take 2 - May (medicated) cancelled due to premature ovulation (so much for not taking any chances this time)
FET #1, take 3 (this is getting ridiculous) - May/June - medicated with supression, only one embie out of five survived the thaw. BFN.

Lining up for IVF#5 if FSH drops below 20 and on an 18-month waiting list for DE.
Cannot believe I just wrote either of those things.

As Saff notes and others have pointed out on your other post, there are other reasons for bleeding - even full on bleeding - that don't mean that you're losing the pregnancy (subchorionic hemotomas, irritated cervix, response to increased blood flow into the uterus, etc). It's also possible that you had more than one embryo attempt to implant but one was unsuccessful and you're bleeding from that. As I said on your other post, it's scary because it could be something bad, but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Like Saff advised, for your own peace of mind, if nothing else, it's worth asking your clinic to do an earlier beta and maybe even scheduling an u/s (although it may be too early to see much).

The fact that your hpts are still coming up positive is promising and worth focusing on at least until you have more info.

Feb 2009 - Lap. done, both tubes clear and open, were never blocked
March 2009 - Clinic gave us the wrong patients results - switched clinics
April 2009 - Started at ISIS
May 2009 - 1st B2B IUI - DH counts amazing, 72 and 42 million 90% mobility - BFN!!! devastated beyond words
June 2009 - IUI #2 - 3 Good follicles - June 16th (113 million sperm, 99% motility WOOHOO) and 17th!! Beta Day July 1st - 14DPIUI...AF arrived...wondering how much more we can take :(
July 2009 - IUI #3 - Changed to timed BD...CD10 (July 10th) Only one good follicle, 2.2 I think, chose timed BD instead of IUI#3, due to only one follicle - we are going to try "au natural " this cycle - BFN again...
August 2009 - Taking time off and enjoying each other, 1st adoption meeting Sept 16th, and I also have a free round of Gonal-F waiting for us at the clinic when we decide to go back - Became a Moderator here at IVF.CA!! Thrilled to be about to give back to a wonderful site and great group
September 2009 - Explored the adoption process with Halton CAS Sept. 16 then decided to take time off from TTC and save for more fertility treatments in the future...
October 2009 - Decided to submit our application for adoption (Oct 27th) and started acupuncture, will not give up we will have a family one day
November 2009 - Finally met Karolyn, she stayed with DH and I for 3 days, she is like a sister to me, and had a few wonderful meet up's with other amazing women from the site...words can not describe what an amazing weekend that was
December 2009 - Re-doing a bunch of tests - hopefully a few IUI's in the new year with a different protocol - Maybe PRIDE training in March
January 2010 - Results from SONO and HSG, all looks great, Right tube questionable, not a huge concern as per Dr. Saving for IVF as that is our next option...might be a few years, hopefully not. Hopefully our miracle will come before -Wondering why is this so hard??
Jan 2010 Cont'd - Accepted to PRIDE training starting in March, SAFE home study to follow...We can finally dream again...

I would definately call the clinic ASAP for an appointment. Hopefully nothing is wrong, but in the off chance that something bad is happening, there will still be the pregnancy hormone in your blood, that is why you may still be getting a positive HPT. I went through a miscarriage in December and my HCG kept rising little by little until I fully miscarried. I know it's scary, but keep your chin up and you will be in my thoughts. An early HCG is good for the sanity.

I would call the clinic for sure ~ in my experience there is nothing that will reassure you now except a check up on things at your clinic or doctors.

Thank you everyone for your advise. I have called the clinic and I am just waiting to hear back from them. However my heavy spotting has now turned into heavy bleeding,AF is definitely here! Maybe I had a chemical pregnancy? Anyway Thanks again everyone, Hopefully I will hear back from the clinic soon.

I'm so sorry...

Me (Nona): 34 DH (Greg):33 DH has a 10 year old daughter who lives with us, and a 12 year old son who lives with his grandma. I love my stepkids so much!

TTC first baby since 2001 (with ex-dh)and he never wanted to do anything more than Clomid); regardless I had two lap surgeries, 4 hsg's and a buttload of the standard IF testing over the years. Diagnosis was damaged tubes resulting from PID when I was 17.

TTC with current dh since September 2008. We started seeing my same infertility specialist and did 3 cycles of Clomid (all BFN), started talking to our doctor about IVF and unexpectedly got pregnant in May/09 "naturally"! Found out at 7 weeks pregnant that it was ectopic. :(
Right tube healed shut, left tube scarred. Trying "naturally" ever since.
Very first IVF coming in October 2010. Hoping, wishing, praying for my little miracle.

Either way, the confusion and emotion sucks, and you end up with the same result. I'm sorry you're going through this.

No words to make you feel any better, just a big hug.

Me: 34 DH:33

Started ttc September 2006
November 2007 - Initial consult at LifeQuest
January 2008 - Diagnostic testing.
February 2008 - Test results - No problems with DH. Dr. suspected I had a PCOS variant and that I probably wasn't ovulating. Suggested superovulation (injectibles) with or without IUI
Decided to forgo treatment for the time being and focus on improving my health.
March 2008 - October 2009 - LOTS of alternative therapy. You name it, I tried it!
February 2009 - confirmed via cycle monitoring I was now ovulating and my ovaries both look fine. Officially unexplained IF. Hmmm, now what?
Next Steps: Had initial consult with Dr. Virro at Markham Fertility Centre on October 1, 2009. Hysteroscopy/laproscopy performed on February 5, 2010. Post op appointment on March 8, 2010. Found out one small spot of endo removed from uterus and a very tiny septum resected.
Started BCP on March 31, 2010.
First IVF (first anything!) cycle after.
Last BCP April 20th.
Started stims: April 25 (Puregon - varied from 100iu to 42.5iu, Menopur - 75iu, and orgalutron)
ER date - May 5th.
14 retrieved, 11 mature, 7 fertilized - 4 via IVF, 3 via ICSI
3 days past retrieval - 5 8-cell embryos (3 via IVF, 2 via ICSI), 2 lagging 6-cell embryos (1 via IVF, 1 via ICSI)
ET on May 10, 5day past retrieval - tranferred 1 "superb, could sell it on e-bay" embaby - grade 5AB0! 4 more "lovely" totsicles (2 5day, 2 6day). The ivf embies did better than the icsi embies.
Beta - May 21s: BFP! Beta was 507! Still early days, but we're happy to be pg!
Viability scan - June 11. Baby right on track, heartrate of 140bpm, measuring 7weeks 1day at just over 1cm long. HOWEVER, big cyst in my right ovary. Going back for another u/s in two weeks to monitor the cyst.
U/S to monitor cyst - June 24 - cyst shrank slightly. Baby still measuring on track, 9weeks 1day and just over 2cm long, heartrate of 167bpm
12week u/s - July 12

Thank you for all your thoughts. I went for my Beta yesterday at 7:00am it is now 3:30 the next day and I still have heard nothing. I think this could be a form of torture. I just want to get a final answer so I can grieve and move on to whatever next step I have to take. If I dont hear from them today I am going to have to drive the 2 hours to T.O tomorrow morning and wait till I get an answer,I cant do this for another 24 hrs. Thank you everyone for letting me vent. I know each and everyone of you has unfortunately been through similar stress. I am praying for all of you.

Hello girls, I am back. The clinic called...it was positive...but my BETA was low only 32 on 10dpt and I am still bleeding alittle. so ??? another blood test tomorrow. Did anyone else have a low beta at 10dpt?

Although I think clinics like to see a beta of at least 50 by day 10, there've been a couple of women who've had positive outcomes with low betas on the boards recently.

I've been through that twice and while waiting to see what would happen, I think I read every website that there is out there that mentions low betas. It seems that there's about a 75% chance of an unhappy ending and a 25% chance of a successful pregnancy.

Will start Marvelon 21 when AF shows up!
Calgary called and said I should be getting called in next cycle!!!!
Had HSG done on March 17- All clear, and looks good!!!
Called AF in on April 6.. wait...wait...wait
start marvelon 21 again on April 10
Called in AF May 3
Got the Call!!!!...
start superfact on May 20th.
Leave for Calgary June 12th
Hopefully having ER June 20th
and tranfer on June 23rd!

Hi Ladies.. just to let you know that I bled throughout my pregnancy and I know how scary it can be... and I had no complications from the bleeding. It is best to consult your dr to rule out any complications. I spotted right up til the day I had her.. the dr's said I must have a irritated cervix and that a lot of women spot during their pregnancies. My grandmother had her period every month when she was pregnant. It is weird how things work, and I wish you the best of luck..

I am so sorry to hear that. Keep your chin up and next round may be the one!! I know we have no control over anything but having a positive attitude makes things go alot easier.. I am here for you if you want to talk. I know what it is like having disappointments. I did 12 months of clomid and had to face BFN for a yr and half. I pray you get your happy ending soon!!!
