I found out over 3 weeks ago that I m/c at around 8-9 weeks. I should have been 11 weeks at the time. It was devastating to hear the news. What's been even tougher, is everything that's come after. I went in for a d&c on November 18. I was told that I should be back to "normal" in about a week and should get AF within 4 weeks. The chances of complications was supposedly less than 1%. I was fine for the first week...some cramping the night of the d&c and then absolutely nothing...no cramping, no bleeding, no spotting. about a week later, i started cramping and passing some big clots. the next morning I felt awful and passed a clot the size of my fist. I went to the ER, passed out in the waiting room and ended up getting admitted to the hospital with an infection from the d&c. I was confused. I stayed in the hospital for 3 nights on iv antibiotics and then was sent home with a prescription for 5 more days of oral antibiotics. while i was in the hospital i passed a lot of clots and had light spotting. i've now been home for a couple of weeks and am being monitored by my obgyn. i am having blood tests to check my hcg levels twice a week and she says the levels aren't coming down fast enough so she thinks there is still some tissue remaining inside. I am confused. I was told the chance of infection was less than 1% after a d&c and the chance of tissue being left was also less than 1%. I don't want to go through another d&c and am just hoping I will pass whatever tissue is remaining naturally. I am just spotting on and off. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? Also, does anyone know what it would feel like or look like to pass the remaining tissue? Also, I feel like my hcg levels have been going down steadily (started at 45000 when I found out about the miscarriage, went down to 800 a week after the d&c, 520 the next day, 460 the next day, 362 two days later, 180 three days later, and 101 four days later.) but dr says they aren't coming down fast enough. i'm scared, angry, sad, frustrated and no-one seems to understand!!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have had 7 d&c's and 1 that had complications. Not to the extent of yours but I did have no cramping or spotting for a few days but I had a really heaving feeling in my abdomen and trouble peeing. Then I began contracting and having huge clots as well. About the size of a softball. I should have gone to the hospital but I just couldn't (didn't want to go back) Anyways the contactions and heaving clotting stopped about 2 hours later.
I really hope things start to get back to normal for you. It's hard enough to go through a m/c but to have complications along with it is devistating. Again I am so sorry for your loss, Kaci
