Protocol (meds taken): 375 gonal-F, 75 luveris, suprefact, doxycycline, steroid (for AH), progesterone, estrogen, baby aspirin
How many follicles at ER: Not sure - they counted 10 in the beginning and then didn't count after a couple of days

How many eggs fertilized: 12 fertilized - 10 embryos
How many days between ER and ET:3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 5 - all 8 cells - that's about all I know
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Felt like i was getting my period - a few bad nights of cramps and spotting a couple of days before beta

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: That someone my age could actually respond well to the meds - my E2 was something like 600 on the first day of blood tests - they were worried and brought me in but it just meant I had lots of follicles. Make sure that your clinic is aggressive if you are over 40 - I lucked out I think because RFC obviously knew what they were doing...

How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: The last cycle, 3 (7cells) grade B

What day you got your BFP: The official one was 10 days past transfer
HPT before blood test: yes 5 days past transfer
Number of first beta: 986
Number of babies: 3... yes 3 beautiful babies
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: I wish I was told at first that acupuncture could help. I would never do another cycle without it. I also wish the Dr would have told me how animate he would be if multiples would accure about reduction.
My signature would be too long if I wanted to describ evertyhing in details. Short form, after 2 ivms, 5 IVf and I finally got to hold my beautiful babies. It was all worth it. Now ...on to FET

Age: 31 1/2 (at the time of the IVF cycle)
How long TTC: 3 yrs
Diagnosis or any known issues: Male Factor - 1%-5% Motility
Treatments you tried before IVF: Accupuncture
How many IVF did you do before success: 0. We were so fortunate that our 1st cycle was a success
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): Buserelin Injections for about 4 weeks. Bravelle/Menopur for about 2 weeks starting after 2 weeks on Buserelin. Projesterone Injections starting on day of egg retrieval until blood test.
How many follicles at ER: 18. I think. The drugs were very good that I don't recall the exact number :)
How many eggs retrieved: 11: 8 good, 1 weird one (discarded), and 2 immature ones
How many eggs fertilized: On DAY 1: of the 8 good ones they all feterlized, of the 2 immature ones 1 matured but split (not normal therefore discarded) and 1 did not fertilize. On DAY 2: of the 8 good ones 7 were very good (3 were grade 1 and 4 were grade 2) and 1 locked. On DAY 3: they implanted 4 of the best 7 ones. The clinic continued to monitor all the remaining eggs and 2 eggs made it to blastocyst stage and were frozen. Interestingly enough one made it to blastocyst on DAY 8.
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 4
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: None
What day you got your BFP: 14 days
HPT before blood test: No!!! Stay away from them!!! They can be deceiving!!!
Number of first beta: 191
Number of babies: In the end 1 but had 2 at one point (vanishing twin). 1st U/S showed 1. 2nd U/S showed 2 but one was smaller. 3rd U/S confirmed that only 1 had a heart beat and 2nd was disolving. U/S at 20 wks showed 2nd one as empty sac.
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Don't try to control the things you can't and just try and take it all in one day at a time. TV series on DVD are the best way to pass the dreadfull 2WW!

Married to DH 5 years
Together for 12.
TTC for 3.5 years
Unexplained, although I have a Hx of Ulcerative Colitis and have had 2 major abdominal surgeries, so likely reason is adhesions in my abdomen.

Sept 11th, 2008 - 27 eggs retrieved, 14 fertilized all embryos frozen because I was at high risk for developing OHSS.
Dec 17th, 2008 - 2 embryos thawed and transfered, both of great quality. One 7 cell and one 8 cell.
Jan 1st, 2009 HPT...BFP!!!!!!!!WOOHHHOOOOOO!!!

April 6th, 2009. 18 week detailed ultrasound. All 3 babies are perfect. All are measuring where they are supposed to. The identical twins share a placenta, so we will have to be monitored extra carefully for twin-to-twin transfusion. Praying each day that everything will be okay!!!

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process:
Grief and Heartache, you may become to know them well. Be gentle with yourself. Infertility may shape you. It becomes a part of your being. Just like having children changes your life, infertility can stop you dead in your tracks. Changing how you pictured your life. - Molding your persona.
"Sometimes we stare at the closed door of infertility so long what we don't see other doors opening for us." I am grateful for the extra time I had with my honey. You will be amazed what you will do for the one you love, how much courage and strength you can muster, how far you will go and how much IF can bring you together . . . or apart if you allow it. Love the one your with.
And through all of this, I am still learning and have concluded - The intention of all this is to conceive a child and I have conceived a stronger sense of myself.

Firefly - I don't know who you are - but wanted you to know that I've just read this thread for the first time and what you said here - and reading your story - really helped me. A lot. I'm having a hard time in our journey right now - and something what you wrote here has touched me. Thank you. I felt like someone out there in the world- understood.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process: Be patient, keep believing, trust your body and have faith in yourself and your dream. Put YOURSELF aside and commit to doing this for your angels. You've reached this point to provide them the opportunity, trust that they'll made the commitment. The more you think about yourself and your dreams the harder it will be if it doesn't work. When you put your ego aside and do it for them it gets easier.

Keep your e2 levels in check, I swear that's a major piece of the puzzle.

Dear Coco and everyone in this thread, :)

Thank you all so much for your stories, they have helped boost my confidence.

I am 37 this Sunday & hubby is 38 this Sunday.

I have been TTC for over 12yrs! :icon_cry:

TTC 10yrs with my late husband:
no luck.

TTC 2yrs with my new husband:
4 M/C
5 losses
1 Ectopic Pregnancy
1 Ovarian Pregnancy

I still have both my tubes and overies are just fine! Very lucky considering!

We have now had no luck falling pregant again since the Ovarian Pregnancy (twins) in April 2008, after having Chemo drugs (Methetrixate) to terminate the twins.

I was always so against IVF it in the past, I even cancelled appointments years ago, as it just didnt "feel right" at the time. Perhaps it didnt feel right due to my late husbands disease and death, I would hated to have passed that disease onto our children if we had had any.

Anyway, NOW we (my new husband) and I have decided to get a referal for IVF!! (Appointment is today!)
We are both so excited! We know we can fall pregnant, I just seem to have trouble holding them....and they seem to have trouble finding the right places to grow! .... I swear they must have all been boys...no sense of direction!! LOL! (laughter is the best medicine right?)

Well, I just wanted to congratulate all those lucky mothers in here, and I hope soon I will be adding to this thread with 'bundles' of good news too!

God Bless you all and your babies xxx
