The new protocol concoction

Posted by LMC , 11 June 2011 · 378 views

After what seemed like a long wait, my RE has provided me with a overview of my new protocol concotion for our 3rd IVF cycle.  After our conversation I was excited!  When our FET turned into yet another BFN, I dreaded doing another fresh cycle.  I think my head is in a good place again and ready to tackle another cycle.  DH and I both feel eager to tr...

Let the pill popping begin!

Posted by LMC , 18 May 2011 · 259 views

Yesterday I came home to find the box I had been waiting for; all the supplements I'm planning to take for the  next 3 months (at least) and DH's too.  I consulted with a Naturopath and ordered all $700 worth of supplements recommended.  So right now I'm popping 9 pills a day, DH (bless his heart) is taking 13 a day!  I've learned...

It's alway comforting to know the next step

Posted by LMC , 07 December 2010 · 251 views

Today I had my telephone follow up with my RE.  I was so convinced that we would leave our frozen blast for another day and go ahead with a fresh cycle.  Funny how an RE can change your mind.  :D My RE addressed my worries, answered my questions, and assured me that I'm still young and have some good egg producing years ahead of me.  He also said that...

This is my first personal blog entry.  I hope that putting my thoughts and feelings into words will help me look ahead. It's another BFN! I just don't understand!  Everything went so well this cycle; the meds didn't phase me, ER wasn't painful at all this time, 6 eggs were retrieved and ALL 6 fertilized, we transfered 2 very good lo...

3-Day Transfer & Embryo Development

Days Past Transfer(DPT) & Embryo Development
3-Day Transfer

1dpt - embryo continues to grow and develop, turning from a 6-8 cell embryo into a morula
2dpt - cells of the morula continue to divide, developing into a blastocyst
3dpt - blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
4dpt - blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
5dpt - The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
6dpt - Implantation continues
7dpt - Implantation complete & cells that will eventually become the placenta & fetus has begun to develop
8dpt - Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
9dpt - Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
10dpt - Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
11dpt - Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy

5-Day Transfer
1dpt - The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
2dpt - The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
